Well, just by accident this morning, I discovered that pressing Insert-Windows key-C invokes a hidden JAWS command for solving captias. I happend to be on a web page in IE that contained a captia image, and when I hit this keystroke, JAWS announced to my surprise, Captia Result Saved On Clipboard. Sort of like Webvisum. Re: [JAWS-Users] MS office 2007 v. MS office 2003 uninstall folders
I don't like 2007 ribben in word, so how can I make 2007 act like 2003? Patti You can go a couple of ways on this. If you uninstall 2003, you will not lose any of your documents, but you will lose the program folders. However, you can install 2007 right over top of 2003. In this way, you can hold onto your 2003 folders if you have a wish to. You can also operate a hybrid. For instance, I really don't like Outlook 2007. So, I installed Office 2007, and unchecked Outlook 2007. So, 2007 is in place for everything except Outlook which is running 2003. This works fine. [JAWS-Users] List Guidelines Reminder
Hello and welcome to the JAWS Users list. This list has been created for The purpose of discussing all aspects of the JAWS for Windows screen reader Program. So everything that pertains to JAWS is fair game. Such as asking about what software packages work well with JAWS or how to make them work even better with scripts, keyboard short cuts and so forth. Another example could be requesting information on how to do something in Microsoft Word, which as we all know works very well with JAWS, but you need to know how to do a certain task or want to learn a way to accomplish it more efficiently. Now this is a very important point in my opinion, asking the list for exact instructions every time is not a good thing to do for a major reason. It creates a dependency situation even if you don't realize it does. The ideal place I am hoping the list will arrive at some day is that everybody no matter how new they might happen to be with JAWS or computers will have the confidence to try things on their own, and yet feel if they get stuck the list will be there to help put them back on track. Trust me when I say that help is quicker to arrive for somebody who is well known to ask for it last than first. So try it yourself first what ever it might happen to be. If you get stuck then let the list know what you've done to try and resolve your current dilemma. Then I'm sure help will arrive with in short order. Next a post asking if there is a software package that does a specific task and works well with JAWS is perfectly fine. The rules of conduct are quite simple and straightforward. Be polite and Patient with others. There will be absolutely no fighting, and no bashing of Freedom Scientific on here at all. If you have a problem with them then I suggest you take it up with Freedom Scientific directly. Please try to keep subject lines relevant and descriptive as possible. Also any news letters except those that directly pertain to JAWS should not be posted to the list prior to receiving moderator approval. Attachments are removed before any message is sent to the list. This is done for your protection. The message list might state that there is an attachment but in fact Mailman does remove them. When contacting any of the list moderators privately please be descriptive in the subject line as to the purpose of the message. Many of us simply delete messages from people we don't know. At the present time there are over 450 subscribers to this list, so we can't possibly know everybody on here. Also, if you have a question for the list that falls within the guidelines, then post it accordingly. Don't contact the management team with questions that are more appropriate for the list itself. Your question may or may not receive an answer for a number of reasons. Everybody should familiarize themselves with the content contained in the footer message that accompanies every message posted to the list. There you will find the group web address along with some other relevant information pertaining to contacting the management team ETC. Occasionally there might be some difficulty with your email address and you may receive an email from the Mailman program asking you to reactivate your account. Please do not simply delete this message. Instead open it and follow the directions to reactivate your account. If you do not after receiving a number of such messages then we will figure that you no longer wish to be a member of the list and remove your email address. The discussion of anything illegal is absolutely forbidden, along with flirting or other such inappropriate activities. this is not a high tech swap shop or anything of that nature at all. This means that goods and or services will not be bought or sold using this forum. If you know a given subject is off topic then don't post it. Simply placing off topic in the subject line does not make it all right. Cross-posting is not permitted, and members should only post in the following manner: Using the TO: field with only one list address. The SUBJECT: field should be short and to the point without including any member names. The reason for this is that in cases where people setup their message rules to go by the To: field often times such rules get fowled up and in effect do not work properly. Also cross posting might allow you to reach many lists at the same time but the fact is such a post might not be on topic for each and every list. This practice does nothing but clutter up such lists with unwanted off topic messages along with annoying the list moderators. Lastly please no jokes, virus warnings, recipes, safety tips, or pleas to help dying kids, should ever be forwarded to the list. No auto responders are to be used on this list! Those who use auto responders for vacations and so forth must make sure that this list is not included. Any person who sends an auto response message will be removed! My hope
Re: [JAWS-Users] new netbook, removing trial version of Office 2007
Not sure. I thought it actually listed the trial version under the uninstall programs aplet as Microsoft Office 2007. A lot of those computers not only come with the 60-day trial, but some have the Microsoft Works suite as well. You can safely dump them both if you are putting HS 2007 in there instead. Take my advice, I don't use it anyway. [JAWS-Users] Help with understanding classic menus for office 2007.
Hello everyone, I can't remember who gave the link but I have downloaded classic menus for office 2007. Anyway expecting to see the ribbons such as home and many others that I can't remember at the top of my head go back to stuff like file edit view etc with installing this programme. Well I just got more compuse! Am I missing something hear? I did download the programme a while ago and uninstalled it because I couldn't figure it out and I am thinking that might have messed up the trial licence which means I can't use it anymore apart from buying it which I don't want to do just at the moment. Put simply does this programme get rid of the ribbons and replace them with the menu bar for things like file edit view etc? and following that can you arrow down into the menu and hear your good old things like new open save save as etc oh and not forgetting the sub menus as well. If anyone is using this programme and it works like as I have discribe then please can they let me know. Or maybe it doesn't work like how I thought it would at all and I got the wrong end of the stick so to speak. I must admit when I installed it I got no documentation what so ever. So I'll await for some news on this programme from all you jaws users out there! Many Thanks. Daniel For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with understanding classic menus for office2007.
The classic menus do not come up by default. When you install the program, something called the Quick Access Toolbar is installed. A mouse user can smimply click on this toolbar, and the classic menus will appear. A keyboard user can invoke them by first hitting the ALT key, then hit the letter Q. I run into this problem every day after I have browsed through my list of RSS feeds using the feed reader in IE 8. The progress bar slowly reaches about 38% and then I get the dreaded Internet Explorer cannot display the web page error. There is apparently no fix for this problem that I am aware of other than rebooting , which always restores page loading to normal. Sometimes, hitting Enter on the problem link again and then repeatedly pressing Alt-right arrow and Alt-left arrow gets the page to load, but not always. Hello Andy, many thanks for your help with the alt plus Q command. Honestly its never that simple as you think its going to be a? Lol I must admit I have not really used it yet but in the future I guess I'll have to start trying to get to grips with it. Thanks Again. The classic menus do not come up by default. When you install the program, something called the Quick Access Toolbar is installed. [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 going silent in Outlook
For reasons I cannot detect, and on no pattern I can see, JAWS 11 occasionally goes completely silent when I open certain emails in Outlook. If I use the JAWS pointer, I can see there is material there and read it that way, but the virtual cursor does not work, and the arrow keys do nothing. Total lack of any feed back at all. Restarting JAWS doesn't fix it. Rebooting the computer will fix it until next time. JAWS 9 does not do this. In fact, if I don't feel like going through a reboot, I just turn off JAWS 11 and launch JAWS 9 and it will read the email just fine. I have made sure that the settings for JAWS 9 have been ported to JAWS 11. I have heard at least two other people express this problem, but none of us has solved. it. I checked the JAWS support pages and they mention that undocked tool bars, or large font sizes can cause this effect. However, I do not have undocked toolbars, and when I adjust the font size it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas? Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 11 going silent in Outlook
I've had the same problem with Both JAWS 10 and 11 in both Office 2003 2007. However the problem is much worse in 2007 with JAWS 11. I have found that I have to do a complete shut down, and not a restart to fix the problem for a while. I only have this problem at work using the above stated combinations of JAWS and Office, and not at home using JAWS 11 Office 2003. At work I am also having problems where JAWS 11 is taking a very long time to start reading an e-mail message in 2007 that I have just opened, and when I press Enter in the body of a message while I am composing it. I've not found a fix for this besides just waiting it out. Sometimes it appears that after waiting for a while, the only way to get JAWS to say anything is to press the up and down arrows. It does not make sense to me. Any ideas? [JAWS-Users] omnipage version and jaws
Which Omnipage version (might have spelled that wrong) works best with Jaws v11? Thanks. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
