Don,

Yes, I've tried that and any other key combination I can
think of and I can't hear page #'s etc. Most times I convert
PDF docs to text or word because I get too frustrated with
Adobe and getting around in documents. Back in older
versions such as 7 etc it sure seemed much easier.

I have found that it is now displayed at the top of the
 window. Not nearly
as convenient! Now you will need to perform the following
 keystrokes:
JAWSKey (Insert on desktop layout, CapsLock on laptop) +
 NumPad Minus (-) to
route the JAWS cursor to the PC currsor
NumPad Minus (-) to turn on the JAWS cursor
PageUp to go to the top of the window
Down Arrow down until you hear the page inforrmation.
Just
 before or after

 of 45, to inform
you are on page 1 of 45 total pages.

have to use my computer until I can get this fixed, and I don't know when. But
I digress. I want to play a Dasey book from our library, and I am not sure how
to open the book. I did every thing it said to do, place Disk in player, open
FS reader, control O and hit enter on the book, and nothing happens.
I am trying to go through the training Material, and so far, it just talks
about reading Dasey books from FS, and I am not sure if this is going to work
with other dasey books, is there a phone number for FS a 1-800 number for
Canada? thanks so much susie

hi

after pressing open wait quite a long time, fs reader is loading all the
books and files that it can read on your hard drive and it takes quite a
long time but hopefully they willl all appear in the open dialogue box after

This used to happen to me, I used to think something was wrong But it was
just that I was not waiting long enough for the files to appear.

Re: [JAWS-Users] terminology

2010-05-13 Thread Ishe Chinyoka
A split button is just a button with more than one option at a time; to get
to any of the options, you simply have to press the right arrow and you
would hear other nested items. You can decide to just activate the main menu
item without expanding the split button by pressing the return key.

Sure, Windows 7 changed the layout of some of its windows, especially with
the Folder Selection control. Instead of Folder View, List View, other
buttons you hear have to do with your preferences in arrangement of these
itmes. Some folks prefer to have documents listed alphabetically, from a
certain range to a certain range without necessarily showing all the
documents in the folder. So, for instance, if you know that you wish to open
an |Excel document that starts with D, you have to pick from the displayed
command buttons to let the arrangement be from A to H, etc.
However, you can turn this off if you feel that this distracts you.

As for me, to quickly get to a list of documents, I just use the Shift+Tab
instead: I only skip this set of command options and get to the list. While
here, you can continue to browse as in the classic XP style.

Hope this helps a little.

Cheers,

Ishe

Just
 before or after
announcing the menus, it should announce something like 1
 of 45, to inform
you are on page 1 of 45 total pages.

Whichever version of JAWS I use, I'm not able to find a

Can the old version 7 read ePub books? Some of Adobe's comments regarding

Hi,

While on the subject of terminology in windows7, can anybody
recommend where one can learn the differences between XP and
windows7? I sometime find it confusing using windows7 after using XP
for 6 years and I am hoping that a clear comparison between the two
operating systems will make it easier to get acclimated and become
accustomed to it. Is there such a comparison out there?

Many thanks in advance,

Sure, Windows 7 changed the layout of some of its windows, especially with
the Folder Selection control. Instead of Folder View, List View, other
buttons you hear have to do with your preferences in arrangement of these

certain range to a certain range without necessarily showing all the

an |Excel document that starts with D, you have to pick from the displayed
command buttons to let the arrangement be from A to H, etc.
However, you can turn this off if you feel that this distracts you.

As for me, to quickly get to a list of documents, I just use the Shift+Tab
instead: I only skip this set of command options and get to the list. While
here, you can continue to browse as in the classic XP style.

Hope this helps a little.

Right. If you have JAWS 11 installed you will already have the full

You get a demo version of FSReader with JAWS 10 and earlier. You can
however download the full version free from the FS website. You do not
even need to be using JAWS to use FSReader full version.

Re: [JAWS-Users] 64 bit computer

2010-05-13 Thread Steve
It all depends on what software you have, if any, that won't run on Win 7
but does on Xp. If you have a lot of older software that hasn't been
updated, then it might be worth it; if you are set on getting a Win 7
machine. Otherwise, its probably not.

Remember when considering the price: not only will you pay $100 extra for
Win 7 Pro, but you also need to pay for Jaws Professional and of course, not
only does Jaws Pro cost more, but so do the yearly SMA's.

I was looking around for a new machine. One of the sales people at Staples
suggested a computer with win 7 professional. He told me that the
professional operating system has an option to run windows xp software. I
wonder if it is really worth the cost to upgrade the license from the
version of jaws that runs on home premium to professional for that
capability.

I think many of you, who have this problem, should report it to adobe. They
have to fix it, because it's not legitim that we have to convert documents

If you search in google for report adobe reader problem you'll find a form

Just
 before or after
announcing the menus, it should announce something like 1
 of 45, to inform
you are on page 1 of 45 total pages.

 Hi,

Whichever version of JAWS I use, I'm not able to find a
 consistent way to
read the current page number and the total number of

Is there any way to accomplish this task with a minimal

 Thanks.
