Go to Zamzar.com.
There you can turn any PDF into doc, or docx.

That's the fastest and easiest way.

I am not prepared to produce podcasts. I have an old detailed set of

need to update a link or two.

I also will post detailed instructions to create a better, simpler Vinux
Emergency installation on a 4 to 8 GB USB Flash drive. I like this
better than the DVD because it has some persistent storage to save
settings and personal files. I will work on this today and should be
able to post the links here tomorrow.

Be aware. Entering your product code is a little tricky. You only have
about 10 seconds to press Enter when first launching Image for Windows.
JAWS does not read the dialog nagging you to enter your product key. If
you do not enter your key, it will appear to backup properly, but the
backup image will only be valid for 30 days.

Exactly. It is a good idea to have the key in your clipboard. Yes, it
can be pasted in the edit fielde. I do not think the focus is
immediately on the edit field. I Tabbed around the dialog first. As I
remember, it also wants your name as it appears on the order.

These are for creating a minimal Windows nbootable disk. It was
originally for Windows 2000, I think it still works for XP. but it is
hard to create and does not have speech unless you can figure out how to
add it. After failing to create this disk, and adding SpeakUp to the
Image for Linux disk, I found Vinux. Vinux is a great tool to have
around for other things than restoring a disk image. It has many tools
to partition disks, scan for viruses, recover files, break a missing
Windows password and so much more! I am now a Vinux fan!

When you have installed TBI you will need to reboot your pc, the program
will tell you this.

Once your computer has restarted you will then need to launch Image for
Windows which should be on your desktop.

It is at this point a box will appear on-screen but as people have said jaws
will not read it, so if you have very poor sight it is probably a good idea
to get someone sighted to help you will this step - they need to click on
the Enter Key button and then Jaws should come back and speak to you.

[JAWS-Users] re-is it possible to delete old messages in

2011-04-07 Thread James Flusche
Hi Randy, Yes, you can delete all your messages at once. I just deleted 20
messages at one time.
Here are the steps I use on the regular face book sight.
1. Press control+home, to make sure you are at the top of the page.
2. Press the semi-colon key 5 times, this moves you by landmark divisions.
3. Arrow down 3 times to messages, press the enter key.
4. Press H. for heading, I think it is 2 times, you will hear messages.
5. Arrow down until you hear select all, press the enter key.
6. Arrow down until you hear, Delete, press enter and all the messages will be
erased.
I hope this helped, the regular sight is not to hard, to use with Jaws. Just
give it some time and practice.
God bless...

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to remove Paragraph Mark from A Word Document

Hello all.
I am currently using Jaws 11, Windows XP and Word 7.
Incidentally, from time to time I share my computer with a sighted user.
Today, for some reason, I notice that all my Word documents say Paragraph
Mark even though I nor the other person know what was done to insert this
mark.
Question: how do I remove this paragraph mark?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I didn't find it. Another user on this list gave me that tip.
So, I just stored it in my head because I have sighted coworkers who turns
that stuff on and it drives me nuts to here paragraph mark paragraph mark
when reading through a document.
I think it was called show all feature.. and that keystroke is how you turn
it off

Use the m.facebook.comma. It is much easier to use than the facebook site
itself. You have to setup an account giving your email address or phone
and password and birthday and I believe there is also a capture to fill
out so you will need firefox and webvisum or salona and qwitter I believe
it is as I don't use that program. I hope I am telling you right because
it has been awhile sense I have done it. I am doing this from memory so
anybody jump right in there and correct any mistakes that I might have

That's how windows works, often enough there is at least 2 ways to do the
same thing. I ran in to this problem last year on a guy's system in town and

my wife looked up the answer for me at that time. Then I tandem up and had
it fixed in a split second.

That also works and to turn it back on if someone so desires press that same
keystroke again.
So we have two key strokes here. alt h followed by eight under the function
keys and CTRL shift 8. Funny how there is so many keystrokes to do the same
thing. :)

Control shift 8 on the number row if memory serves.

If I remember right it is alt h followed by the eight under the function

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to remove Paragraph Mark from A Word Document

Hello all.
I am currently using Jaws 11, Windows XP and Word 7.
Incidentally, from time to time I share my computer with a sighted user.
Today, for some reason, I notice that all my Word documents say Paragraph
Mark even though I nor the other person know what was done to insert this
mark.
Question: how do I remove this paragraph mark?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Pete

[JAWS-Users] Laptop automatically connecting to network

2011-04-07 Thread Russ Hubley
Hi everyone,

I have asked this question before, but I have some additional evidence and a
question.

In three cases I was able to connect to a connection and have my laptop set
up to automatically reconnect to this network when I was in range again. On
other cases, this has not worked.

Examples

After successfully connecting to a network, I went to manage wireless
networks link and found the network here. I went to properties and found the
checkbox checked which would always allow me to automatically reconnect.

On two different occasions, I have successfully connected to a network, but,
when I went to the manage wireless networks, i did not find the current
network, and could not set up this automatic feature.

One of these was the Laquinta Inn and the other was our auto dealership
network.

Are there certain networks that do not allow you to use this automatic
feature, or is there something I need to change.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Russ

Is that router configured not to broadcast it's SSID? This is the
name that should appear in the Connect to dialog. If it does not, you
will need to enter the SSID manually as well as it's pass phrase. The
other possibility is that the laptop is just too far away to make a
connection. It may be set up in a bad place or around something causing
interference. Try connecting with the laptop close to the router. The
best place to put a router is near the center of the house (or central
to all of the areas you want wireless Internet)and up high.
Microwaves, cordless phones, and neighbor's routers can cause
interference. Try to keep these items away from the router and laptop.
Logging into the router and changing the wireless channel number can
make a vig difference. I think the channels go from 1 to 11. Changing
my router to channel 11 made a big improvement so that I no longer get
drop outs.

Thank you, Don,
The signal strength here at the laquinta inn comes in as excellent. The name
I here is, LQ net.

The routers I was able to successfully set up for my computer to always
connect when in range are as follows
They are also in my manage wireless networks. Under properties, the checkbox
is checked concerning always connecting when in range.

My home router, (required a password)
My son-in-law's router, also required a password
Our local computer shop, uncertain if this required a password.
All above connections were excellent.

Is there something I can adjust to take care of this issue?
Don, this is not a big deal, just kind of a challenge. As long as I just put
the laptop to sleep, it retains the wireless network connection.
Thanks again,
Russ
