[JAWS-Users] Issue With JAWS 15 And Internet Explorer 11
Hi, At home, I am using WINDOWS 8.1, Internet Explorer 11 and the latest build of JAWS 15. When I open IE 11, I used to hear a page read out and JAWS was in Virtual Cursor Mode. Now, although I can read menus and can hear the names of various Tabs which I have, it appears that the main website content window is blank. JAWS does not read anything and remains in PC Cursor Mode. I can open Google Chrome and it works, however, I prefer to use IE. I have tried refreshing the page, to no avail. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? My internet connection is fine and working for everything else. Hi all, I have a win 7 and JAWS 15. I got some type of message indicating that Windows Defender needed to run a scan. I don't think that I even haveDefender on my PC. Re: [JAWS-Users] Is it possible to use Jaws as a stand alone software?
Hi, Yes you can, FS hass a page in their website that will explain how to do it. You'll need two thumb drives, one for the jaws confirmation number and the other one you will install a couple different files and jaws will be able to read certain things only in that computer, I believe. The only down fall is, you will need some vision or help to install the information from the thumb drive into the unfamiliar computer. Then, from then on, you should be good. HTH and that's all I read a long time ago. Check insert-z to make sure that is turned on. If that isn't it, try going to a webpage, it could have had its home page changed to blank. if that isn't it, get malware bytes and run it, such behavior changes often indicate a problem. --- Blogging at tech-mysteries.blogspot.com On 2/18/2014 04:00, Charles Nicol wrote: Hi, At home, I am using WINDOWS 8.1, Internet Explorer 11 and the latest build of JAWS 15. [JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer 11 and JAWS 13?
Hi, Please forgive me if this has been asked before. Re: [JAWS-Users] Is it possible to use Jaws as a stand alone software?
Hi There are portable versions of JAWS that can be run on a flash drive. However, there is still some installation work, unlike NVDA. The JAWS Video Intercept modules must be installed on the computer, and the computer rebooted, before you can use the portable version. Also you can put in your JAWS authorization number and authorize JAWS, or you can just run JAWS in 40 minute demo mode. If you authorize JAWS, it does eat up one of your authorization keys. You can look on the FS site and look for JAWS potable or JAWS thumb drive. I believe that the most recent version is a release of JAWS 14. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Angela Delicata Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 09:58 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Is it possible to use Jaws as a stand alone software? no, maybe I was not able to explain. Re: [JAWS-Users] Win Defender on Win 7?
Hello Al, In Windows 7, Windows Defender is an antispyware program and can be used in conjunction with MSE and Malware Bytes. Although, if you are running Malware Bytes you likely don't need to have Windows Defender active. In Windows 8, Windows Defender replaced MSE and is an antivirus and antispyware program. In Windows 8, it should not be used in conjunction with another antivirus program but can be used in conjunction with Malware Bytes or other antispyware applications. Also, in Windows 8, Windows Defender needs to be turned on. If another antivirus program is on a system then it should be uninstalled before using Windows Defender in Windows 8. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer 11 and JAWS 13?
I don't think that this is a good enough reason. It might be simpler to just choose not to update. If I E 9 is working fine with no problems, why bother? There may be complications with I E 11. My computer updated to I E 10 automatically and since for my purposes, 10 worked the same as 9, I left it that way. I am using Jaws 13. I have 14 but have no reason to use it. Re: [JAWS-Users] Win Defender on Win 7?
Hello Al, It really doesn't matter. Malware Bytes is a very well-respected antispyware program. It doesn't hurt to have more than one antispyware program running at the same time. There should only be one antivirus program running on a system. I don't think Windows Defender will find any spyware that Malware Bytes misses but whether or not a person uses it along with Malware Bytes is a matter of preference. However, in Windows 8 Windows Defender became an antivirus program as well as checking for spyware and should not be used when another antivirus program is running. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Win Defender on Win 7?
Hello Rich, In addition to what I mentioned in my earlier message, Chris Hill pointed out that MSSE replaced Windows Defender as well as becoming an antivirus program in Windows 7. If I remember correctly, if you install MSSE in Windows 7 it turns off Windows Defender. However, if you are using Avast, AVG or some other antivirus program in Windows 7 then you can use Windows Defender as an antispyware application. It's kind of strange but in Windows 7 Microsoft made MSSE their antivirus and antispyware program and turned off Windows Defender when MSSE gets installed, but in Windows 8 they chose Windows Defender for their antivirus protection. Take care. [JAWS-Users] thunderbird
when I launch thunderbird and it opens I get a window and jaws announces system intergration and it has three selections one being email so I choose that and I can view my email after pressing f8 the problem is when I exit thunderbird then go back into it I get the same window ‘system intergration’ its quite annoying to keep selecting email is there a way to remove that window at startup because all I use thunderbird is for email if it can be used for other stuff too. email is golden ! Hi, The below link you'll find IE 11 with MSN and Bin and IE 10. The new IE should push out the old one, but the foot print is still there in the program folder just in case you want to go back. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40907 HTH, Jorge -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dacia Luck Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 12:08 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Internet Explorer 11 and JAWS 13? I am using JAWS 13 would love to upgrade to 15, but that costs money, and who has that? lol Anyway, I currently have Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7 64 bit. I know I need to upgrade IE and want to upgrade to IE 10 but when I tried to find a link and download it and install it it keeps telling me I still am using IE 9. It keeps telling me to upgrade to IE 11. How does IE 11 work with JAWS 13, could I upgrade directly to it or do I need to find a link to download IE 10? if I need to find a link to download it, where can I find it, and do I need to uninstall IE 9 before downloading and installing IE 10? Thanks all for all of the info. Rich -Original Message- From: Brian Lee Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 6:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Win Defender on Win 7? Take care. Hello Rich, The Windows Defender program in Windows 7 is an antispyware program. You should use an antispyware program in addition to your antivirus program in Windows 7. It doesn't hurt to have more than one antispyware program running at the same time. If you are using Malware Bytes, Super Antispyware or some other antispyware program, using Windows Defender in Windows 7 is a matter of preference. It might be a good idea to use it as a second antispyware application and it should not clash with your antivirus or other antispyware program. In Windows 8 the Windows Defender program replaced MSE as an antivirus program and should not be used with any other antivirus program in Windows 8. In Windows 8 you can still use other antispyware programs while using Windows Defender but not other antivirus programs. Take care. Take care. [JAWS-Users] How to stop jaws announcing graffic number before file name?
Hi learned members, when ever I brouze files in an open file dialogue box or installed programs list, jaws announces some grafic number before the file name. say for e.g. grafic 208 c cleaner, grafic 304 kurzweil 1000, graffic 405 microsoft word 2007 etc. I am annoyed of these grafic announcements. I want to listen the file name directly to brouze fast, is there any way to stop it? -- Mohib Anwar Rafel 2009 - 2011 M.Phil, International Legal Studies, JNU. 2011 - 2013 LL.M, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. 2013 - Pursuing Ph.D in International Law, JNU Skype: mohibrafel Phone: 09811767506, 09211192333 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] How to stop jaws announcing graffic number before filename?
hmm. What simply I do whenever I found myself in such situation is that I press insert+v for quick setting or similar, I press down arrow one time to overcome from added field, and then I press the later g until jaws says the options of graphic, and by default it is set to all. Now I press spacebar to toggle non, and press enter to close this dialog box, and save the changes I have made. Now when I press up/down arrow, jaws won't speak such graphic. But remember. It is only for temporary purpose. I even don't know how to turn off the jaws by saying graphics permanently. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Mohib Anwar Rafay Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2014 11:09 AM To: jaws-users-list Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to stop jaws announcing graffic number before filename?
