Hi All,

Are all Vipre products accessible with Jaws? The reason I'm asking is that I
received an e-mail from Vipre today with the same $49 offer for the Internet
security that was mentioned on the list over the weekend, but the regular Vipre
antivirus will also be on sale at some point this weekend and I thought I might
go with that if all of Vipre's products are equally Jaws-compatible.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Vipre

Hi All,

Are all Vipre products accessible with Jaws? The reason I'm asking is that
I received an e-mail from Vipre today with the same $49 offer for the
Internet security that was mentioned on the list over the weekend, but the
regular Vipre antivirus will also be on sale at some point this weekend and
I thought I might go with that if all of Vipre's products are equally
Jaws-compatible.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How Change Keyboard Layout to Laptop?

2015-11-24 Thread David Moore

Hi Jim,
In the JAWS Window, just press enter on options sub menu. Then, press enter
on basics. Next tab until you get to the keyboard layout and choose laptop.
Then, just press enter and you are set. If JAWS is running in your system
tray, press insert + J. After that, follow the same instructions starting
with options then basics. Have a great one.

It changed my layout from laptop to desktop.
Exactly how do I change it back to laptop?

Re: [JAWS-Users] WIN10 upgrade advice from our computer people

2015-11-24 Thread David Moore

Hi Jason,
Same here. I up graded to win 10 in August with the media creation tool and
everything has been great. Using JAWS 17, I can access almost everything
except for the Edge browser and a few apps. I have learned a lot about using
win 10 with JAWS, so anyone, please ask any questions. Please do not be
afraid to upgrade to win10. Once you do, you will forget about all other
Windows versions. Have a great one, all.

Here's a blip from the Oregon Computer Consultant's organization. I see
no reason to doubt their objectivity.
"Updating to Windows 10 - NO!
At meeting of computer consultants on Oct 27 we discussed windows 10
updates. - Not clean installs but updates from 7 or 8.1 to 10. Every
consultant recommended
waiting. Despite that, many had tested the update on their own
non-crucial systems. Also, some clients had updated accidentally or
against advice or demanded
the consultants update them.

The consultants had experience with 33 update attempts. 11 failed. Most
failures could be reversed and returned to their previous condition, but
some lost
their computers completely. This isn't a large sample, and computer
consultants might not have heard from clients who updated successfully,
so my guess
is that much less than 33% fail. Probably more like 10% or 15% and of
those probably 80% can return to their old operating system and continue
to run fine,
but it still seems crazy to do this with an important machine.
Furthermore, possible that if you aren't getting the latest versions of
all your software,
you could have some incompatibility there.

Tech support centers say that the problems caused by the Windows 10
update are double that of most other Windows operating system upgrades.
This is probably
not because the upgrade process is worse, but because people are being
forced to do it.

Wait a few more months before you succumb to the Borg."

[JAWS-Users] blocked content via Viper

2015-11-24 Thread leonard morris
The other day I tried to access a webpage but Viper said it was
suspicious and blocked it from loading. It suggested I copy the link and
send it to them for analysis. I tried to use the appplication key to
look for a method to copy the link to the clipboard without opening the
link in IE11 but there did not seem to show that option. So, using IE11
and jaws v17 how do you copy a link E.G. that you located via google
without clicking on the link to open it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] I need directions to put Windows Live mail on Win 10and add Gmail to it.

2015-11-24 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein (Jawslist)

Hi Kurt.

Download the Windows Live Essensials package from
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/download-windows-essentials and
install it.
If there is program's in the package that you don't want to install, then
uncheck the box'es before pressing the Install button.

Open Windows Live Mail, and follow the guid to set up your account, by
typing your Name, your email address, and selecting the gmail.

Than adwise the user name and password, and you should be done.

Good luck.

Hans Pauli.

Hi all,

I have had Win 10 on a desktop now for almost 2 months. I have tried every
way possible that I can think of to get Live mail on it with my g mail
account attached to it. This computer was freshly cleaned out before 10 and
I am trying to get it all put together like my laptop so that I can start
learning 10 but can't get mail on it.

If someone could give directions before I throw this thing out the window it
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kurt

open your start menu by pressing win key
arrow to all apps and open it
arrow to windows accessory folder and open

if you don't see windows live mail you need to reinstall
here's a link for it

when you install it make sure to only check windows live mail because I
think microsoft retired all the other apps

when you first open wlm it'll ask you for an email
type your gmail address enter type your pass check remember pass

don't check manually configure email server
enter on gmail email help wait until gmail configures gmail on wlm

A followw up to this posting. Looks like NewEgg is offering Vipre Antivirus
2016 one year digital download for $5.00. Other antivirus programs too, but
Vipre is specifically mentioned. Perhaps an option for those who may be on a

Hi Cristóbal,

We run Vipre & MalwareBytes on all our computers with no problem. You will
probably have to tell Vipre that MWB is okay because Vipre will see it as some
sort of malware or virus or, whatever the correct Vipre terminology is.
Vipre, to put it nicely, is a much better protection program than MSSE.
Take care.

Let me ask this. I've got MS Essentials along with paid Malwarebytes on a
Win 7 laptop, but am considering this deal for my Windows 8.1 desktop. Is
there any advantage in security with one over the other? I'll probably get
this for the desktop, but am wondering if I'm better off just leaving
Essentials on the laptop and saving the second instalation for some other
machine the wife and I may qcquire down the road. She's a little more
flexible with what she can use since she doesn’t' have to consider screen
reader accessibility and Essentials is pretty good about this and I've heard
good things about Vipre in conjunction with Jaws.

Hello group,

For anyone interested, the most JAWS friendly Internet Security software,
Vipre Internet Security, is going to be on sale Thanksgiving day for 24
hours, from 12:01 AM Thursday Morning, until 11:59 PM Thursday night. The
price will be $49.99. This license is for 2 PC’s for the life time of the
computers. This is a $150 savings. So, if anyone has been wanting to make
the switch, Thursday will be the day to do so. I personally have used this
product for years with JAWS, and have never been disappointed. I just
recently upgraded to the new 2016 version, and received an email notifying
me of the upgrade.

This is not so much a solution as a workaround and is viable only if
you have an apple device. But I usually rearrange songs on my phoe
then sync the playlist back to the computer.

I am not sure what is going on at apple accessibility, but I received
the same nonresponse when I recently reported my inability to confirm

I have some very good and detailed instructions for creating ring tones
which I can send you off-list, if you would like. Just let me know.

As for your question, and I am going from memory here so beware ...

If you put focus on the track you want to turn into a tone then press the
context key, there's an option for get info or something like that. There
are several tabs under that selection and the one you want is called
something like options. In there you find some checkboxes for start time and
end time along with the default values. You'll have to tab around play to
get what you want but it's there.

Sorry I can't be more exact, but I'm not on the computer where I have iTunes
installed.

I hate to point this out, but mirror drivers stopped working in
windows7, they only applied to xp or earlier.

On 23/11/2015 23:31, jim wrote:

Hi Jaws Users group,
This email only concerns Windows 10 Users.
I just finished helping Neil one of my members, by doing a tandem into his
computer.
The reason he could not follow my instructions was because the F S mirror
drivers were not removed, the drivers were still installed on his w-10
computer
The F S mirror Display drivers, do not work in w-10, they will cause
unusual problems as far as the way Jaws 17 sees information on your
computer.

He is not the only one who still had these drivers installed.
This is why Freedom Scientific needs you to run the tool they provide
before upgrading to w-10, This should work 99 percent of the time.

So, for the 1 percent of you who might be having problems, read below:
How to check your computer to see what display drivers are installed on
your w-10 computer.

Type, Device manager, into the search box, press enter on device manager.
Or, Windows key+X, down arrow to device manager, press enter.
Tab one time to, Your PC opened.
Down arrow to, Display adapters closed, right arrow to open.
Here is what my computer says for the two items under display adapters:
ATI, Radeon HD 4250
Freedom Scientific accessibility display drivers
If any of you have, F S mirror display adapters in addition to, Freedom
Scientific accessibility display driver.
These drivers need to be removed from your w-10 computer, here is how to
do so:
Highlight the driver that you wish to uninstall, press the application
key.

Go down to, Disable, press enter.
A warning dialog will come up, asking if you are sure you want to disable
this device.

Tab to yes, press enter.
Now, highlight that same driver again.
Press the Application key.
Go down to, uninstall, press enter.
Again, you will get a warning window, Tab to yes, press enter.
You should get a dialog about restarting your computer, if so, restart
your computer.

After any drivers are uninstalled, please restart your computer.
Hopefully this will fix all issues.
Also, it’s a good idea to run a repair on Jaws, after doing something like
this.
This way, you get a freshly installed Jaws on your computer after removing
the unnecessary mirror driver.
This is why, F S has you run the tool before upgrading to w-10, so you can
avoid having to do this.
If problems still persist after removing the mirror driver from your w-10
computer.
Then uninstall Jaws 16 or 17. then install, again fresh, this should
straighten out things for you.

Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed
reaching His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with

Re: [JAWS-Users] Toshiba or hp laptop?

2015-11-24 Thread Hicks Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST)
They are both good machines in my opinion so I wouldn't be concerned about
that, at the end of the day, as previously advised, just compare the specs and
feel free to come back to me personally if you would like any more specific
advice, I have quite a lot of hardware experience.

Mike, I do not remember the ram in the Toshiba but it has a 500 hd and the hp
has 8 gb ram and a 1,000 hd. I am leaning towards the HP because at the end it
will be the same price. If they do not have Bluetooth I think an adaptor is not
too expensive. I would like the larger HD because I could slowly move all of my
saved stuff on the old desktop to a storage area on the laptop. Maybe then just
use the laptop as my main computer and recycle this boat anchor. If I get rid
of the desktop, I have a copy of the oem windows setup disk. I would then be
able to create a dos partition on Karen's macbook and install windows. She
likes windows much better. Since she gets the macbooks free every 3 years she
has to use it.

Hi Lenny,

Toshiba and hp are both good machines. You should not have any trouble out of
either one. If the laptop has blue tooth capabilities, then you should be able
to connect from 3 to 5 devices to the computer at any one given time, maybe
more. If something refuses to connect, then disconnect something that you are
not using at that time and try again, the device should connect then. Either
machine will work equally well with Jaws, I am curious what makes up the
regular price difference. Does one laptop have more memory than the other, or
maybe a larger hard drive? If so, go with the one with the largest amount of
RAM. I find that I can get by with a fairly small hard drive, but having enough
memory is crucial to having the computer operate well with jamming up and it
can minimize crashes. Good luck with your new laptop, that is the type of deal
that I have been looking for. I may have to check it out myself.

I never used a laptop computer. I am sure that I will have to purchase a full
size wireless keyboard as well. For the black Friday specials Staples has a
Toshiba regular $499 and an HP that reg is $599. Both after sale and rebates
drop down to $299. These are I3 processors.
I only plan to use it for MS word, browsing, email and maybe Exphinity to
listen to some TV shows. I am the committee chairman for a Boy Scout troop.
Using my I-phone to run the meetings with an earpiece is a little difficult at
times. With just having the keyboard in front of me, I would be able to read
my agenda and immediately update it for the next month meeting. I would be able
to place the laptop somewhere else in the room, keeping it out of the way on
the table.
Is there one brand or the other that will best work with jaws? Also will
Bluetooth work with several appliances on the laptop, keyboard, mouse, wireless
head phones?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS And Outlook 2010

2015-11-24 Thread Hicks Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST)
Hi friends,

We have just moved to Microsoft Outlook 2010 as our primary client for mail etc
from Groupwise.
I am just trying to get used to things and am wondering how people get on with
the calendar for accessibility?
I Have just opened the calendar and I seem to be able to move around the half
hour slots with no problem, just wondering if there are any trick and
accessibility tips?
The shortcuts are still there for most things as far as I can tell using mail
but they are multi layered and take some remembering, I may have to re-map some
of them with scripts :)

Re: [JAWS-Users] ituens question

2015-11-24 Thread Kimber Gardner
I have some very good and detailed instructions for creating ring
tones which I can send you off-list, if you would like. Just let me
know.

As for your question, and I am going from memory here so beware ...

If you put focus on the track you want to turn into a tone then press
the context key, there's an option for get info or something like
that. There are several tabs under that selection and the one you want
is called something like options. In there you find some checkboxes
for start time and end time along with the default values. You'll have
to tab around play to get what you want but it's there.

Sorry I can't be more exact, but I'm not on the computer where I have
iTunes installed.

Re: [JAWS-Users] F S mirror drivers in w-10

2015-11-24 Thread Bob
Close, mirror drivers were introduced in Windows Vista replacing Display
Chaining from XP.
They were also used in Windows 7 but have been replaced with another
technology in Windows 8 and 10.

Sorry

Bob

On 24/11/2015 00:17, Alex Stone wrote:
I hate to point this out, but mirror drivers stopped working in
windows7, they only applied to xp or earlier.

On 23/11/2015 23:31, jim wrote:

Hi Jaws Users group,
This email only concerns Windows 10 Users.
I just finished helping Neil one of my members, by doing a tandem
into his computer.
The reason he could not follow my instructions was because the F S
mirror drivers were not removed, the drivers were still installed on
his w-10 computer
The F S mirror Display drivers, do not work in w-10, they will cause
unusual problems as far as the way Jaws 17 sees information on your
computer.

He is not the only one who still had these drivers installed.
This is why Freedom Scientific needs you to run the tool they provide
before upgrading to w-10, This should work 99 percent of the time.

So, for the 1 percent of you who might be having problems, read below:
How to check your computer to see what display drivers are installed
on your w-10 computer.
Type, Device manager, into the search box, press enter on device
manager.

If any of you have, F S mirror display adapters in addition to,
Freedom Scientific accessibility display driver.
These drivers need to be removed from your w-10 computer, here is how
to do so:
Highlight the driver that you wish to uninstall, press the
application key.

Go down to, Disable, press enter.
A warning dialog will come up, asking if you are sure you want to
disable this device.

Tab to yes, press enter.
Now, highlight that same driver again.
Press the Application key.
Go down to, uninstall, press enter.
Again, you will get a warning window, Tab to yes, press enter.
You should get a dialog about restarting your computer, if so,
restart your computer.

After any drivers are uninstalled, please restart your computer.
Hopefully this will fix all issues.
Also, it’s a good idea to run a repair on Jaws, after doing something
like this.
This way, you get a freshly installed Jaws on your computer after
removing the unnecessary mirror driver.
This is why, F S has you run the tool before upgrading to w-10, so
you can avoid having to do this.
If problems still persist after removing the mirror driver from your
w-10 computer.
Then uninstall Jaws 16 or 17. then install, again fresh, this should
straighten out things for you.

Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed
reaching His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you
with good health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be
spiritually balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the
heavens where God sits.
