Hi. If you have any, try pairing your bluetooth headphones or speaker to it and a bluetooth keyboard, and see if you can disconnect it from its dock and still be able to operate it. Re: [JAWS-Users] Kangaroo computer and JAWS 17
Here is some info for those that did not google it: InFocus, an American electronics company has announced the launch of Kangaroo. Size: 124mm length, 80.5mm width, and 12.9mm girth, is roughly the size of a smartphone. It comes with a removable base unit, which has an HDMI port, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, and a DC power port. The device weighs just 200 grams (without adapter and power cord), and even features a Windows Hello fingerprint sensor it is powered by a quad-core Intel 'Cherrytrail' Atom x5-Z8500 processor clocked at 1.44GHz, with a Burst frequency of 2.24GHz. Other features include 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and a 32GB of eMMC storage, which you can expand via microSDXC card (up to 128GB) should you need more storage. The battery is suggested to last four hours under "casual use", the portable PC also has a Micro-USB port for charging. I think one can use this port for a headset if your headset is adapted with an adapter female 3.5 to male MicroUSB the Kangaroo runs Windows 10. The mini-PC features Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity. About a hundred US dollars or 144Canadian including shipping and taxes. I have put JAWS 17 on this and it seems to be pretty peppy. I will be testing it more this weekend to see how it works with docking station and usb keyboard and headset as well as without the docking station using Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth headset. Curious I am and so far it seems to be what I was looking for. There is no screen so one has to use the HDMI to connect to screen or IPad. Voice comes through when connected to screen using the HDMI port. However, I just need speakers ( no headphone jack) thus the use of the micro USB port for wired headset may be useful) and a keyboard. Voice commands will be of interest using Microsoft's answer to Apples SIRI. Most important is how jaws will work in this small unit. I suspect for simple applications all will be fine but if one opens up to much then unit may become very sluggish due to the limited 2 gig of RAM. robin -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: December 31, 2015 8:39 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Kangaroo computer and JAWS 17 I've only been monitoring this thread enough to make sure it is on topic, but I must admit it has got my attention. The Cangaroo if I recall rightly is a pretty nice outfit that only just recently released. It has a dock I believe, does it deal fine with being removed from the dock while running and placed back on it again? Since if memory serves it has an internal battery, it'll keep on going while off the dock until you put it back again. I read that the out of box experience setup process for this device had been modified to work more like setting up a smart tv box would and thus is not typical windows setup. I suspect for simple applications all will be fine but if one opens up to much then unit may become very sluggish due to the limited 2 gig of RAM. robin -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: December 31, 2015 8:39 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Kangaroo computer and JAWS 17 I've only been monitoring this thread enough to make sure it is on topic, but I must admit it has got my attention. if it’s the Microsoft 3000 full size keyboard, it’s real easy. Mine came with a little USB plug and 2 double A batteries, that’s all I had to do to get it to work on my window’s laptop. Usually, just to the right of the lefthand control-key is a Func key. You need to press that in conjunction woith one of the functionkeys f1-f12 to get it to do the traditional function. Otherwise, you are in what HP calls ActionKey mode. Generally, you can return the HP to function like normal: This "amazing" technology is called "Action Keys Mode", and the good news is that it is very easily turned off to get your laptop back to working the standard way of having to press the fn key. Steps to fix: - Shut Down your computer completely. Don't put in Sleep or Hibernate - Press Power button to start - Immediately press F10 key a few times - This will start the BIOS - Go to 3rd page (System Configuration). Press right arrow key to go to next page - Select the "Action Keys Mode". Press ENTER. yes, as I heard from another ml, it uses Windows Home 32 bit and you most likely would want to use a Bluetooth or USB keyboard. it also provides 1 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 port as well as a HDMI. It shouldn't have much trouble with that, it does after all have typical tablet-like specs. Someone I know has one just a bit bigger than a USB flash drive that goes directly into the HDMI port, which he hasn't since he can't see the TV. Hi All, Here are the measurements in inches & ounces: Size: 124mm length = 4.88 inches. 80.5mm width is 3.17 inches. 12.9mm girth / thickness is 0.51 inches. weighs just 200 grams (without adapter and power cord), = 7 ounces Take care. Thanks to all that have given advice on this matter. The shift f10 does not work, adding the fn key to it does not work either. The f keys are working in action mode so I will be either going into the bios or just calling HP support and have them take care of it because I also need to know how to shut off the mouse pad. [JAWS-Users] email on my laptop
Up until now I have no email client on the doormat. It is a win 10 machine and wondering if I can install windows live mail and then import my email from my pop 3 account. I know that I would have to export it to a usb drive then import. I then would like to use a Gmail account. I want to keep all of my address book information there. Maybe a little later use both the Gmail account and my Comcast pop3 account. --- Please visit my web page It’s motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990R For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Hope that helps. The shift f10 does not work, adding the fn key to it does not work either. The f keys are working in action mode so I will be either going into the bios or just calling HP support and have them take care of it because I also need to know how to shut off the mouse pad. Thanks again to all and Happy New Year. I have the same situation of not having an applications key. First of all, shift + F10 does the same thing as the application key. Next, will JAWS work in the bios, or does that require sighted help? I would like to get my function keys working the way they are supposed to as well. That is a pain having to press the FN key and the F4, for example. If that will work with JAWS, I will go into the bios and do that. Thanks and congrads on your new HP. I love HP computers. Have a great one. -Original Message- From: Steve Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2015 1:40 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Getting the applications key working on new HPlaptop Curt, HP has re-mapped the function keys. Select DISABLE - Save and Exit "A person cannot survive as a true Spartan fan unless he is a bit of a masochist and a very large optimist." I tried the function key and the f10 for the applications but still nothing happened, in fact nothing is happening. I want to change the way the function key works anyway because it is easier to use JAWS when the function key is for the volume and tracks and the f keys are for what they normally should be. Can anyone give pointers as to why I can't get anything to happen with the f keys? Thanks for any help.
