Re: [JAWS-Users] JFW17, HTML tables, & screen layout

2015-11-07 Thread Csaba Godo
Nothing is on the screen. The announced word "cell" probably assigned
programatically (inner and not trough JAWS Script) to HTML-element.
You can modify the announced text if you modify the markup assigned to
this control. To do so, you have to modify the used speech and sounds
scheme (or make a brand new one and use this one as default scheme for
webbrowser applications). In the speech and sounds manager you have to
look the "Controls" tab and there in the listview the entry for "table
cell" or something similar. There you have to choose the option 1
(Announce the control or something similar) and writing into the textbox
labeled "Text" (or something similar what you want to here if you are
entered a cell.

Sorry for the many "or something similar" prases, but I use a localized
version of JAWS and not the English one, so I'm not sure if the names
translating back from Hungarian to English could be correct.

Hello all,
For any who read tables in html documents, you have noticed the change from
"|" to "cell" being the separator between columns. I contacted FS and they
did this on purpose because some don't like the |. A | has been used for
this purpose since the feature of simple layout VS screen layout was
introduced in Jaws years ago. I've been using it for just as long and my ear
is tuned to | as a separator instead of "cell".

I was told to submit a suggestion to make this a feature change. I have done
so by asking if they can give the user the option of picking the character
used to separate the columns when in screen layout. If anyone else agrees
with me, please email FS at suggesti...@freedomscientific.com

In the meantime, does anyone know how to maybe alter the scripts to do this
without waiting on FS?

Thanks,
Jason

[JAWS-Users] JAWS incompatibilit with Word and Excel

2014-08-13 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi everybody!

I need urgent help!

Something happened with my PC running Vista as OS and I can't use JAWS
and MS Office together. When JAWS runs (ie. JFW.exe is in the memory as
a process) I can't start Word and Excel of any MS Office versions. (I
tried it with Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 - namely all versions I have.)
But other MS Office products, like FrontPage, PowerPoint, Access runs in
this case. Word and Excel signs immediately at start an system error and
Windows tells me that the net will be searched for problem solvings but
finds nothing and asks me to close the program. When I stop JAWS, (ie.
removes JFW process from the memory) and use an other screen reader app
both program runs normally. What is the problem with JAWS? All installed
JAWS versions cause this problem. (I have installed version 9, 11 and
14.) I tried to reinstall JAWS completly but without any success. I
removed all components and also the registry was cleaned, too before the
new installation.) I would need use JAWS with this apps, because I write
special JAWS scripts for them.

Could help me anybody?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] FS and alternative say all in jaws v15

2013-11-26 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi,

the quality of synthetizers produced by Cereproc in Scottland, or by
Iwona in Poland are much-much better than the quality of Nuance's
Vocalizer or Vocalizer Expressive. Both of them are full of errors. The
difference between these two synth famiies is only in the driver which
makes possible a little bit higher responsivity. But the speech database
of these two synth family is the same. We are currently working on the
Hungarian voices to make them usable, because the speech database of
these voices were so full of errors, that sometimes the produced speech
was ununderstandable. For example: if in the text was a copyright sign
the synth read it as training shoe. Simmilar errors can you found in
the English voices, too.
Vocalizer and its Expressive version is much slower than the above
mentioned synthetizers. I use both and I can tell you, that they are
currently the top synthetizers on the market. They are SAPI 5 synths, so
JAWS can use them immediatley after instaling. If you want a speedy and
very-very human sounding voice in your JAWS, you should use them.

Cheers,

Csaba

[JAWS-Users] ► Offer to fix bugs in Hungarian voices of Vocalizer

2013-09-17 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi Eric,

I'm Csaba Godo from Hungary. We know each other from the JAWS mailing
list of David Ferrin. We have changed some mails during the past times.
Now let me to introduce myself to you a little bit better.
I'm a very low vision programmer who uses JAWS as primary screen reader
and who is involved in artifical speech synthesis. Since Freedom
licenced Nuance's Vocalizer synthetizer family disturbed me that Eszter,
the Hungarian voice, has so many mistakes and errors that makes really
difficult to use it with JAWS for longer time. When Vocalizer was
available for NVDA Our small team, consisting of blind college students
and programmers, has contacted Tiflotehnia, the distributor of NVDA
version of Vocalizer and Vocalizer Expressive, to work together to
correct these mistakes. We have managed to correct them with Vocalizer
Studio, so the updated version of both synthetizers for NVDA is already
available.

Now we would like to offer you the same cooperation that we offered for
Tiflotehnia to fix and update the JAWS versions of both synthetizers. We
offer our cooperation to Freedom for free. The only thing we request you
to have this cooperation directly, rather than go through your local
reseller.

For Freedom, with this cooperation would it be possible to update and
enchance both Eszter (Vocalizer) and Mariska (Vocalizer Expressive)
voices without any cost and time. We know that your local reseller has
indicated these errors many times to you as errors which makes difficult
to use these voices with JAWS. With our cooperation Freedom could
increase the level of satisfaction among the Hungarian JAWS users. I
know that Hungary is a very small market for you, but I think the
satisfaction of every JAWS users is important for Freedom. Or I'm wrong?

Now some words about the work we have done with Vocalizer Studio: We
have rebuilt the whole dictionary and corrected many pronunciation
errors and even extended the pronunciation and grammar rules. Currently
we are working on extending phoneme database, namely to extend the
phoneme-character bindings to make able these synthetisers to read
characters which does not exist in Hungarian alphabet, but are common in
our Hungarian cultural environment. I mean for example the special
characters of the spoken languages of the surrounding countries.

(Comment: I know that it is possible to edit the symbol (SBL) files of
each synthetizers in JAWS, but in this way it is not possible to force
JAWS to read correctly words contains characters, which have an entry in
an SBL file.
If I make an entry for a special letter, ie. for ß (which character
does not exists in Hungarian alphabet, but exists in Hungarian family
names of German origin), then JAWS detects it as stand alone letter. So
the name Weiß is read by JAWS as if it would be written as Wei ß.
The program during the text processing enters an extra space before the
given character. It is very disturbing and sometimes makes impossible to
understand the text.)

As member of the management team of Freedom Scientific I would like to
ask you to help us to connect to your team responsible for synthetizers
to work together to make available the updated and corected versions of
both synthetizer voices for JAWS users.

Best regards,

Hi Tom,

JAWS Script is a special microprogram written in the JAWS own
programming language called JAWS scripting Language. These
microprograms, known as macros, too, make able JAWS to communicate with
other programs. They are the gateway between JAWS and the speech
synthetizer. They control what, how and when should say the synthetizer.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Why are some symbols silent in RTF files?

Hi all,
I have noticed something interesting in the near past working on my
new Hungarian SBL file. Some symbols recorded in this file are silent
when I enter them in an RTF-based text editor as Word or WordPad. For
example the signs of £ (english pound) and ¥ (japan yen). Why? What
can I do to make them loud? I use JAWS 11 on Windows Vista.

I tried the both versions of entries like levelable (symbol N
method) and the ever-reading one (U+= method).

Hi Csaba,

In older versions of Microsoft Word, one got these characters in lists
on pages in the Insert: Special Symbols, dialogue. It can also be
accessed via insert, Styles. ANSI is a 'native' code used in windows,
before the widespread adoption of Unicode. JAWS may also read ANSI
characters, via the verbosity dialogues. (It can be made to echo at
various levels or be silent.) Besides ANSI, there is the older ASCII.
ANSI is got by use of the righthand number pad, with the numlock on; and
then the (left) alt key pressed with a leading 0 + (usually)three digits
from the said keypad.

There is a WikiHow, at:

http://www.wikihow.com/Type-Symbols-Using-the-ALT-Key

and another site:

http://www.theworldofstuff.com/characters/

gives such characters.

Hi Flor,

Could you tell me where can I find the ANSI character codes?

Ath the moment your idea from yesterday seems to be the best solution
for me to let speak some currently in RTF editors silent characters.
Later I have to modify the the JAWS scripts which are running when I
force JAWS to read. It seems that the cahracter-muteness problem
exists in all RTF-based text editor controls in Windows.

Thanks in advance for your help!

2013-05-29 Thread Csaba Godo
Thanks for the idea, Flor, but your type of solution is not the perfect
one for me. I entered these symbols in the SBL file used by JAWS if the
Hungarian speech synthetizer is working. So JAWS should know it. It
knows them well, when the file containing these characters is opened in
Notepad, but they are silent when the same file is opened in WordPad or
Word. I don't want to add them to a dictionary file, too. I have
registered them in the appropriate SBL file by their unicode codepoint
so JAWS have to know them. Or am I wrong?

[JAWS-Users] Invalid characters in SBL file

Hi girls and guys,

Could somebody help me on the subject of SBL file and the unicode
codepoints of characters, and their visual representation? I currently
extend the Hungarian version of SBL file and examining the factory
defaults in eloq.sbl I have recognized that some entries seems not to be
valid. These entries are:

symbol85=u+f076 starred bullet; (unknown unicode codepoint).
symbol87=U+f0a7 filled square bullet; (unknown unicode codepoint).
symbol88=U+f0fc checkmark bullet; (unknown unicode codepoint).
symbol90=U+f0d8 arrow bullet; (unknown unicode codepoint).
symbol92=u+204C leftwards bullet; (known, but no visual
representation).
symbol93=u+204d rightwards bullet; (known, but has no visual
representation).
symbol95=u+2619 rotated heart bullet; (known, but has no visual
representation).

I used to test the characters and their unicode codepoint the Unicode
Character Finder webapp. Its link:

http://www.mclean.net.nz/ucf

Could somebody send me perhaps a document in which the above listed
characters are visually presented?

And an other question: How to insert the folloving symbol in a text?
symbol100=u+001e 0101 non breaking hyphen?

Many thanks!

found no compatibility problem. An older Firefox version you can

Hi

You can take a look at Image for Windows. It's not free, but when I bought
it, if you are using it for personal use only, one license was good for 3
PCs. It does not do incremental backups. But it does do differential
backups and full backups instead. The advantage with differential backups
is that if you ever need to restore everything, you only need the latest
full backup and the latest differential backup instead of needing the latest
full backup and all the incremental backups since then. If you just need to
restore some files, using the program TBIView with the latest full and
differential backups, you can find the files you need and copy them to where
they need to go using copy and paste. This program is a part of the Image
for Windows package. There are several choices for compressing the backup
files. These programs are JAWS accessible if you are using them in Windows.
The only exception is if you have to do a restore of your entire system,
which means that Windows is not available. It that case you have to use DOS
or Linux to perform the restore. You can find some tutorials for this
program on the JAWS-Users site.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Manuals for new users

Hi list.
Time ago, I made a kind of jaws training. I remember that we had a list of
files, some in html, others in doc. These files were a documentation that
explain how jaws works, and the basic commands for use this screen reader.
I don't know where I put those files, and I don't know from where can I get
those files.
Anybody at the list knows, or knows what are those files?
Thanks
Pablo

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws loading wrong scripts for outlook

2013-03-25 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi Andrew,

Did you checked confignames.ini? Are entries concerning to Outlook
separated by version?

In my confignames.ini are the following entries:
outlook=Microsoft Outlook 2007
outlook:14=Microsoft Outlook 2010

If the entries are not versionsafe, then could load JAWS wrong script.

Kindly,

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I wrote to the list concerning a problem where I am using
outlook 2010, but jaws is loading scripts for outlook 2007. I have tried a
complete uninstall and reinstall of jaws from scratch, but still have the
same problem.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated as reading
arrowing down lists of mail is particularly frustrating and jaws is too
verbose.

Kind regards,

Andrew
