Hi Rick & David,

I was reading a tutorial by David Bales at;

http://goo.gl/uu3XW

In this tutorial he talks about using the, Windows Key + Up Arrow
keystroke for maximizing windows. Apparently in Windows7 you can
invoke this keystroke on any window you want to maximize & Windows7
will maximize the window & remember the setting so you don't have to
maximize it again. This maximize keystroke only maximizes the window
during the current session of the computer use.
You can also use the keystroke, Windows Key + down arrow, to restore
the window.
It won't remember the maximized window after a reboot or restart.
Take care.

Hi Donnie,
I have found that sometimes while in the system tray pressing Enter on
the
selected item does not perform any action, so you can try this
alternative:
While in the System Tray, select the item of interest, and then tab
to, left
double-click, and press enter.

Another way to open the Action Center to solve PC issues is:
>From the search box in the Start Menu, start typing:
Action Center
when it pops up in the list, press enter.

In the Action Center, you can tab thru the options using the spacebar
to
activate any of the buttons.
As in any situation on the computer make sure to maximize the window
by
pressing Alt + spacebar, then the letter X this will help in
navigation,
especially when using the Jaws cursor.
You may need to route Jaws to Pc , then page up, to start reading down
one
line at a time thru the entire window for the necessary information.
In the Action Center, you can change the settings for when and what
you want
to be notified about, such as:
User Account Control settings
Windows Updates
Backup and System Restore and other security features.

Additionally, Action Center notifications can be set not to show in
the
system tray, but I would not recommend this.

Hi Mike,
You can not create identities in Windows Mail, without a third-party
program.
I suspect you have added another e-mail account, so you will have to create
message rules to sort the messages.
Also, you will have to remember to choose an account or set one as the

Hi Jerry,

Try the following:
1. While in your In-box press Alt + V, for the view menu.
2. Arrow down to, Sort By, & press enter to open.
3. You want to have 2 things checked in here, Received & Descending. Arrow
down to, Received, press enter to check it if it's unchecked. When you
press enter on any option in here it will take you out of the sub-menu so,
go back into the Sort By submenu & press enter on, Descending. With these 2
items checked you should have your email sorted the way you want them.

Hope this helped.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Collapse / Expand Not Being Spoken, How It Was Fixed, Revised

2012-10-26 Thread MWB
Hi Again All,

I misspoke in my last post by not mentioning 2 important steps for labeling
the collapsed & expanded graphics. Here are the steps in the correct order;
1. While in Windows Mail press Insert + 6, on the number row above the main
keyboard. This puts you into the Settings Center for the Windows Mail
application.
2. Navigate to Graphics & Symbols, press right arrow to open, arrow down to
graphic verboscity, & press the spacebar until Jaws announces, all graphics.
3. Now tab to apply , press the spacebar, tab to okay, & press the spacebar
to save the settings & close the Settings Center.
4. Now is when I ran the auto graphics labeler by invoking the keystroke,
insert, control, + G. When running the auto graphics labeler you have to
wait until Jaws reports that it has finished & Jaws will also report how
many graphics were labeled, if any were labeled.
5. Then through some experimentation I came up with the following;
On my computer Graphic #540 I labeled as, collapsed. Graphic #846 was
labeled as, expanded. Now Windows Mail is correctly reading if email
grouped messages are collapsed or expanded with Jaws14.
6. Now follow step #2 but, when you get to graphic verboscity you want to
press the spacebar until you hear Jaws announce, labeled graphics. Now
apply & close the Settings Center.
To be on the safe side i re-booted the computer & now everything is working
correctly. Collapsed or Expanded is being announced depending on the state
of the message thread.
Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Collapse / Expand Not Being Spoken

2012-10-25 Thread MWB
Hi Marilyn,

What happens when you have group messages by conversation selected is, if
there are more than 1 email message in a thread, you will only hear 1
message announced. Jaws will announce the message criteria then announce
collapsed. This means there is more than 1 message with the particular
subject line. You then press the right arrow to expand the thread & view
the rest of the messages. For me, this helps navigate through email
messages faster because you are navigating by groups of messages rather than
singular messages provided there is more than 1 message in the particular
thread. I hope my explanation makes sense.
Take care.

second attempt to make send page/link by e-mail available. You have to be
using an admin account for this.
1. Open the default programs page.
2. tab to the set program access and computer defaults link, and open it.
3. Say yes to the user account dialog.
3. The set program access and computer defaults dialog opens. The intial
focus is a custom radio button which is checked, although jaws does not read
this. Tab to the next control which is an outline button collapsed. Press
spacebar to press this button which changes it to expanded.
4. There are now a number of controls following this button. Tab to the
windows mail radio button, and press spacebar to check it.
5. press enter to press the default ok button.

Hi Tara,
the option to send a page or link can be unavailable if your mail program is
not the default program for all protocols. To make sure that it is:
1. open the default programs page of the control panel.
2. tab to the set your default programs link and open it.
3. tab to the list of programs, and select your mail program, which in your
case is windows mail.
4. tab to the set this program as default button, and press it.

This may fix your problem, though I've read of cases when it hasn't.

Hi David,
There is no Outlook Express 2003,
your version is:
Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.5931
Now, as far as the dicionary manager, you would open it while in Outlook
Express,
and either copy or type the word you want to have spoken differently
and then tab to the replacement word field and type the way you want it
spoken, and then tab to okay, and save your changes when you close the
manager.

Hi David,

Try the following;
1. While in Outlook Express, press Insert + D, to open the dictionary

2. Tab to Add, & press the spacebar to open this edit field. You are now on
the Actual field & this is where you type in the word the way it actually is
so, type in, blindtech.
3. Tab 1 time & you will be on the Replacement field. This is where you
type the word the way you want Jaws to read it so, type in blind tech.
4. Tab to okay & press the spacebar. Press Alt + F4 to close & you will get
a dialogue asking you if you want to save the changes to the dictionary

Hope this helped. Take care.

I recently did the windows mail tweak so that it would work on a Windows 7
machine. When I arrow up and down to each folder, it automatically goes into
the folder and does not tell me how many messages are unread. I'm a little
confused as to whether or not this is normal for Windows Mail or is there a
setting that will allow me to simply arrow down the folders or press the
first letter of a folder without actually entering the folder.

I thought it may also have to do with my JAWS version. I am using JAWS 13.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows mail

2012-06-03 Thread MWB
Hi Lenny,

Try going to your contacts folder in;

C:\Users\NameFolder\Contacts\

1. Open the contacts folder.
2. Tab to the organize button.
3. Now, right arrow to, New Contact Group button & follow the steps below
from there .

1.Tab to the Organize button, which is the first control on the Toolbar.
2.Press Right Arrow until you get to the New Contact Group button, and then
press it.
3.A Contact Group Properties dialog opens. This is a two page dialog, and it
opens on the Contact Group page, which is described in detail in the Editing
Contact Groups section below. However, the following steps describe how to
name the group and add existing contacts.
4.Type a name for the group into the Group Name edit box.
5.To add existing Contacts to the group, Tab to the Add to Contact Group
button, and press it.
6.An Add Members to Contract Group dialog opens, which has a similar layout
to the standard Vista Open dialog. By default the view of the Folder view is
Tiles, so the first time you use this dialog it's worth setting the view to
List. To do this, press Shift + Tab twice to move to the Folder view, but do
not select any files. Open the context menu, then open the View sub-menu,
and choose List.
7.In the Folder view, select one or more Contacts or Contact Groups, and
then press Enter to press the default Add button.
8.You're returned to the Contact Group Properties dialog, where the focus is
the Add to Contact Group button. Because the focus is a button, you can't
just press Enter to press the default OK button. Instead, either Tab all the
way to the OK button and press it, or just Tab to a control which isn't a
button or a link, and then press Enter. Sending messages using your contact
groups In a similar manner to using contacts, you can send messages using
your
contact groups either in a New message window, or from your Contacts folder.

In a new message window, you can type in the names of contact groups, just
as you would the names of contacts. When the message is sent, the name of
the
group is replaced by all the addresses of the contacts.

Alternatively, in your Contacts folder:

1.Select a Contact group. (In fact you can select more than one contact
group, and contacts as well.)
2.Open the context menu, then open the Action sub-menu (access key A), and
then press Enter to choose the first menu item which is Send E-mail.
3.A New Message window opens. All the contacts in the contacts group are
already entered in the To edit box, and the focus is at the end of the Edit
box.
Editing Contact Groups To edit a Contact Group in your Contacts folder,
select it and press Enter. A Properties dialog for the Contact Group opens,
and
you can then change and add information in this dialog.

The Contact group properties dialog is used both for creating and editing
contact groups. The dialog has two pages: Contact Group and Contact Group
details.
The latter contains controls for optional data that you might want to give
about the group. The controls on the Contact Group page are:

.A Group Name edit box. .An Add to Contact Group button for adding existing
contacts or groups to this group. This was described above in the Creating a
new contact group section. .A Create New Contact button for creating a new
contact and adding it to the group. .A "List of group members" list view. .A
Remove Selected Contacts button. However to remove one or more contacts,
it's easier just to select them in the List of group members, and then press
Delete.
.Contact Name and E-Mail edit boxes, and a Create for group only button, for
adding a contact to the group but not to your Contacts.

Hope this helped. Take care.
Mike

[JAWS-Users] Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail

2011-11-23 Thread MWB
Hi Jerry,

When I send an email to several people using Windows Mail, I use almost the
same steps as I do using Outlook Express. I always use the BCC field when I
send emails to several people. The revised steps for Windows Mail are
below.

You don't have to have the BCC field highlighted to do this but,
highlighting the BCC field is probably a good idea until you get used to the
way it works.

1. After pressing control + F, to forward, control +N, for a new message, or
control + R, to reply, tab down to the BCC field to get ready to enter your
recipients.

2. Press Alt + T, for tools, press the letter R, for select recipients, &
tab 2 times to Address List, list view. You should be at the top of your
contacts list.

3. You can arrow down through the list or go by first letter navigation.
However you navigate the contacts list, whenever you have a name highlighted
that
you want enter into the Bcc field, press, Alt + B, on each name you want to
send this message to. Invoking the Alt + B keystroke is the keystroke for
adding names to the BCC field. Alternatively, invoking the, Alt +T
keystroke will add names to the, To: field, & invoking the, Alt + C
keystroke will
add names to the, CC: field.

4. After you have added all the names you are sending this message to, tab 8
times to the, List Bcc, List view, arrow down this list to make sure that
you
have included everyone you want to add. If all the people you want are
there, tab 1 more time to, Okay, & press the spacebar.

5. Now, tab to the subject field, do whatever you have to do here, tab to
the edit field, type in your message, & send as normal.

Hope this helps & doesn't scare you away from using the Bcc Field! It gets
really easy after you do it a few times & get used to the way it works.
Take
care.

Hi Mike,

Thank you. I think I’ll give JAWS 13 a try. Is Dr. Phil’s couch
comfortable? I’ll need a lot of time on it! It seems like on a good day I’m
taking one step forward and only one backward instead of two or three. I’ll
get there. Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that.

Oh, I'm running Windows7 Home Premium, the 32 bit version but, I don't think

  Hi All,

I’m losing focus in JAWS 12 on my 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium computer
what seems like multiple times an hour and am about ready for a stay in the
rubber room. I’m hoping that JAWS 13 might be better behaved. I got my
disk for 13 the other day and understand that a sneak preview of the update
to 13 is available before the official launch tomorrow. I’m mainly working
with Windows Live Mail 2011 at the moment and don’t remember seeing any
fixes in tomorrow’s update for WLM and thought I’d go ahead and update
today. Is J13 any better behaved as far as loss of focus is and does the
new update help any with the focus issue?

  Thank you,

Hi All,

I am running Windows7 Home Premium, Windows Mail, & Jaws13. When ever I try
to empty my delete folder using the keystroke, Alt + E, then pressing the
letter, Y, I get the following message, Get it help from communities, before
my yes or no options. How can I stop or change my focus so I don't get /
hear this message? Getting this message somehow interferes when pressing
spacebar on the Yes option & doesn't empty the delete folder. All help will

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows7 Start Menu Folders

2011-10-16 Thread MWB
Hi don David, & Larry,

I was talking to a friend about placing folders on the start menu & I was
informed that a person needs to take ownership of certain folders that
Windows7 doesn't allow access to in order to do so. If you want to put
folders in the start menu accessed by the Windows key, you need to have
access to the start menu folder that is in the your name folder located in
the User folder of the root of the Windows7 folder, Local Disk C. This is
a hidden system folder. In this start menu folder there is a Programs
folder that folders can be placed into then, only after folders are placed
into this Programs folder will they show up in the All Programs folder that
is accessed via the Windows Key. I haven't tried running any shortcut
keystrokes this way yet but, after I do I'll let you all know they worked.
Take care.

I am not aware of any way to add a folder to the Start menu. Individual
files and programs can be added by locating them in Windows Explorer and
pressing Shift + Application keys and hitting Enter on "Pin to Start
menu". Holding the Shift key while hitting the Application key adds a
few interesting extra items in the menu.
