Re: [JAWS-Users] reccording to computer from tapes

2014-12-29 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Hi Theresa,

Many questions again. Okay...here goes.

1. Cassette tapes are in an analog format. To be saved on the computer,
they must be converted to a digital format. Since your laptop has no audio
inputs, you'll have to digitize the audio before transferring it to the
computer via the USB port. Therefore:

a.) You can buy an interface which has the ADC (analog to digital converter)
built in. Or,

b.) you can as you said, use a digital recorder, then simply transfer the
files.

2. Either way, you'll end up with a recording where 2 of the 4 tracks will
be present in the right and left stereo channels. If this happens, there's
no way to separate them. However, if you transfer one side of the cassette
at a time, you can then select either the right or left channels and make
each into a separate audio track (i.e. saved as a separate file). Again,
using either Audacity or Goldwave (Goldwave is better for this task), you
can easily separate out the tracks.

Again, I'm presuming that you're attempting to copy Library of Congress
audio book format cassettes. For normal stereo (i.e. music) cassettes, the
job is a bit easier.

Best Buy and DAK Electronics both sell little plug-in audio interfaces for
laptops. They typically feature a male USB connector to put into the
computer on one end, and a 1/8" (3.5 millimeter) female audio port of the
other side. Again, Goldwave is the best solution for software, both in
terms of accessibility and functionality. However, you might want to search
the Internet to find other applications that might be cheaper and/or easier.
But Goldwave is what I use.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your repply.

Would it be possible to record a four-track tape with Audacity, wihich is
free? If the old cable that conected old tape recorders doesn't work, I
wonder if I could do the recording without conecting the recorder to the
computer. Like in the old days when those cables were not around.

I was also thinking about using a digital recorder and then transfering
the content to the computer form there, but is it posible to do the
four-track? I am new to all of this, so that is why I need detailed
information.

Thanks again. Happy new year,

Teresa

Hi Theresa,

Lots of questions.

First off, see if you can find a USB to audio adaptor. I've seen a couple
that use the 3.5 m.m. (1/8 inch) connector, but I haven't seen one that
uses

the same RCA phono connectors that were used on old tape decks. You might
need an adaptor cable as well.

Yes, using Goldwave you could record each side of the tape to digital,
then

cut/copy the left track or right track to a new sound file. If you don't
have "crosstalk" between the channels, this will work fine. Same thing
goes

for Library of Congress format tapes, which are at half normal cassette
speed; just record them into Goldwave, select the Pitch option from the
Effects menu, then select (down one octave) to normalize the speed.

A larger problem I have had with interfaces is that they fight over the
ACEO

drivers with JAWS, and JAWS usually loses. So, you might find yourself
without speech.

I don't know if any of this helps; I bought a $79.00 cheap
"direct-to-digital" tape player that connects directly into a USB port.
I'ts made by a company called Ion.

HTH,

Paul

Joseph, pardon my ignorance, but is the Ignatius the only accepted version
of the Bible for Catholics? When I grew up Catholic, we used the
Confraternity Duoay but also used the NIV. In fact, I've never even heard
of the Ignatius Bible. Thanks for clarifying. I myself am seeking a

I'm using outlook Express, but it'd be in a similar (view) menu or
Ribbon.
Look in there. it has to do with Windows encoding. there may be an
Encoding
submenu, which lists all the windows encoding types. the one I have
checked
is Western European iso, and I never have the problem (although I've
heard
of it in the past from people who had. that's the way towards the
solution.

If not in the view menu, then look in others.
the view ribbon?)

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 12 Video/Control Backspace Problem, Sony VAIO Laptop

2011-06-21 Thread Paul Shallbetter
I am experiencing the same problem. I discovered the root cause when I
attempted to run the Video Intercept setup program and it failed.

It turns out that I need to reload all the video drivers before I can
reinstall the video intercept.

The problem is maddening.

That's interesting.
I also have Intel ® HD audio/video/graphic drivers and never had an issue.

Are you sure its not something with the video intercept manager?

Re: [JAWS-Users] an audio tutorial

2011-06-21 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Robin, I can't speak for David, but here's what I am using.
F
or portable recording, I use an Olympus DM-4, which records and saves files
in .WAV, .mp3 and .wma formats, at a variety of bit rates. (The higher the
bit rate, generally speaking, the higher the fidelity of the recording but
the more storage space required.

For microphones I either use the built-in mics (very good) on the Olympus,
or a pair of electret condenser microphones from Core Sound, or a lavalier
microphone from RadioShack and/or Sony. It depends on the kind of recording
you want to do; for voice, podcasts and audio blogs for instance, the
built-in microphones might be enough. For concerts etc. I use the binaural
condenser microphone pair.

I also have a Tascam DR7. Bigger, bulkier but with more dedicated buttons.
Uses common AA batteries (the Olympus uses a proprietary battery pack). The
Tascam doesn't record to . all formats, however.

I hope this helps. Feel free to mail me off-list if you want more
information.

Re: [JAWS-Users] re turning jaws up and down separately?

2011-02-12 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Short answer. No.

If you're using Eloquence through your main sound card, your Windows volume
control controls both the audio running through your app and through JAWS.
Sorry.

Eventually, and when I grow up I'm going to figure out how to use multiple
sound cards, one for JFW and one for my audio production apps. The problem
to get more technical has to do with something called ACIO drivers...

Thanks for the reply, but as I posted earlier, I was mistaken in my original
post. I believe I am running IE 7. Also, I do not and will not for the
foreseeable future be able to afford any newer versions of JAWS than the one

I can't even "downgrade" my IE 7, as I do not have access to the Menu bar.
I have to solve this problem from within JAQWS 7.1.01 or not at all.

Again, thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

2010-11-23 Thread Paul Shallbetter
My bad I am running SP2, not SP3 Win XP. And I did roll back IE to v.7,
I think. Hard to find this out, as I do not have JAWS PC cursor access (nor
any other access) to the "About" menu item.

This is driving me nuts, as it worked just fine until a few weeks ago. The
only change I can think of is my installation of Microsoft Security
Essentials...but restoring to a point before that install doesn't work
either. I'm still convinced that this is a JAWS focus problem, not an IE
problem, and I am certain that there is a work-around, if only I could find
one. As I said, JAWS cursor will reveal/read the web pages, and commanding
JAWS to read the entire window works as well.

Aaaargh! But thanks again everyone for trying. I sincerely appreciate it.

Although some WebPages may not read well, earlier versions of Jaws will
in

fact work with IE 8.
Since I am not at the computer in question, I can't look for other
possible

causes,
but I suspect that the,Open Parent Document Button, is a graphic
and if focus could be brought to it with a mouse, it could be renamed.
I don't remember if IE 8 was available without having service pack 3
installed, but if it were, and installed ahead of SP3, then
a roll-back to IE7 will not be possible.
I would try a different version of Jaws, before trying to roll-back to
IE8.

Additionally, I would try using a system restore point to try and pinpoint
the time when the problem occurred.

Hello there;
well, the answer to your problem is?

your version of jaws, doesn't work with IE8.

you will need to go back to IE7,

you can do this through the add slash remove, in the control panel.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Goldwave

2008-12-01 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Hi Larry,

1. Goldwave plays beautifully with JAWS. I use JAWS 7.1.01 on a
Windows XP-SP3 platform...nor problems. JAWS scripts are available
at the jaws-users website, I believe.

2. Tutorials: Rick Harmon has done a couple fairly good tutorials
available on blindcooltech.

HTH,

Paul

BTW, I really love Goldwave and use it everyday. At less than
$50.00 U.S., it is a great bargain.

Hi folks,

Goldwave.
I do have a couple of questions and maybe you can help me
out.

How well does it play with Jaws?

Are there any current tutorials on it?*HTML word doc or PDF
preferred*

Any tips, tricks, setup foibles or tweaks I should know
about?

Will the Goldwave's site allow me to save a hard media copy?

At $45.00 a pop, can I install a copy on my laptop at no
additional expense?

Mike,

I looked up the word 'sinecure' there, and a link in one of the definitions
wwas a word that would cause a moderator's warning here! How about

which is, in fact, a good-quality dictionary. And the price is right, too.

Hi All,

I came across this very Jaws friendly dictionary, the website is below.

www.urbandictionary.com

This dictionary gives much more information and better definitions for each
word being looked up than Ninja Dictionary. Have a great weekend.

Re: [JAWS-Users] converting MP3 files

2008-11-02 Thread Paul Shallbetter
I may be a little late replying to this, sorry if the question has
already been answered.

If you have trouble converting directly from .wma to .mp3 files, I
suggest that you first convert the file to .wav and then to mp3.

Hope this helps,

Paul

Goldwave is a good one, go to www.goldwave.com for more information.
To download JAWS scripts, go to www.blindgeekzone.net
Goldwave is not free, you have to buy it. The scripts are free
though. To convert files, do not open a new file, stay in the main
window and on the file menu click batch processing. The goldwave
scripts are found on the programmes page of the blind geek zone
website. The goldwave audio tutorials are found on the audio page
of the blind geek zone website. The tutorials are done by Rick
Harmon and he is the owner of the blind geek zone website.

Hope this helps!

Hi guys,
I have a bunch of music files that I want to convert to MP3
files. Most of them are songs that I have ripped from CD's. I
can change them by using total recorder, but I would have to
convert one file at a time.
Can anyone tell me of a program that can do a whole folder at a
time, and also something that works well with jaws.

Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] JFW: RE: Huge problem with multiple JAWS versions on same PC

2008-05-12 Thread Paul Shallbetter
I'm sure this will sound like a stupid question, but please bear with me.

My wife's computer for some reason contains JFW v. 4.0, v.5, v.
6...and now v.7.00.33. Now, when she turns on her computer, JFW
won't run at all! And, despite the fact that we activated the new
version (by manually typing in the activation key), nothing works.

What do I need to do to make it work right? I too am blind, and we
can't get sighted help for this...so...?

TIA,

Paul Shallbetter

Re: [JAWS-Users] OCR Software

2008-02-25 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Larry, it seems fairly simple to me why this all is relevant.

The most often-suggested O.C.R. packages are incidentally the most expensive.

For many of us, the math doesn't work out at all. I have a decent
income through being self-employed, but after utilities, food,
mortgage, medical and other continuing expenses, there isn't enough
money to a.) maintain JFW, b.) purchase expensive O.C.R. software
and c.) get a PC that is powerful enough to handle the newest,
fully-bloated versions of JAEWS, Windows etc. etc.

Perhaps my somewhat whining diatribe should have been worded thus:

I do not have money for expensive O.C.R. software. Is there freeware
or inexpensive shareware that will again let me rad my books and
correspondence?

Excuse me.

86% of blind adults unemployed in the U.S. (best as I can
figure..tough statistic to find).

Don't know about the rest of you, but with JAWS SMA fees, paying for
the latest JAWS because I don't have an SMA yet... then add $600.00
for either Open Book or Kurzweil

Excuse me... but what banks are y'all robbing to get this kind of cash?

Sorry to sound disgruntled...and I'm sure this will be flagged as
off-topic, but come on! Even somebody earning $75K/year with a small
family could not reasonably be expected to shell out that kind of jing.

BTW,

Systran Professional is fairly JAWS accessible, but in order for it
to be significantly better than online translators like Babelfish,
one needs to "train" the software, and build vocabulary lists etc.

There are times when I just need to look up a word or verb tense.

[JAWS-Users] [JFW] Spanish-English-Spanish dictionary?

2008-02-22 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Hello fellow JAWS users::

Forgive both my newbie ignorance and my apparent inability to find
this elsewhere.

I recently bought the Oxford Spanish Dictionary... only to discover
that I couldn't navigate it with JFW 7 on my XP Pro/1 GB/1.77 GHz
laptop. Tried both JAWS cursor and virtual PC cursor.

I am wondering a.) what I might do to access the OXford Spanish
Dictionary with JAWS. b.) I would like to get suggestions on
accurate and accessible Spanish/English - English/Spanish dictionary
software, usable at a professional level (as opposed to a dictionary
suitable for a student).

Thanks in advance for your helpful replies!

Cheers,

Paul Shallbetter

I'm sorry... I should have specified my system.

I am running Windows XP Pro/JAWS 7.0 on a 1.7 GHz machine with 1
gigabyte of RAM. Running simultaneously were Windows, JAWS, Eudora
and Internet Explorer, with AVG Free Edition in the background.

[JAWS-Users] [JAWS] Anybody else having trouble re: Youtube with JFW?

2008-02-18 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Hello all,

This is really strange.

About a week ago, Youtube videos started stuttering (i.e. playing a
few seconds, pausing, playing a couple seconds more, pausing again
and so on).

I first thought it was an Internet bandwidth issue. Then wonder of
wonders, tonight while attempting to listen to a pretty marvelous
arrangement of "Amazing Grace" played on the autoharp, when the
stuttering began, I was inspired to close JAWS. Bingo. The Youtube
video played fine.

Has anyone else experienced this, and can anyone offer an explanation?

Paul

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessible IRC clients

2008-02-16 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Yep... it was discussed here just last night, in fact.

BOFH Net IRC is an I.R.C. client application especially made to work
with screen readers.

Alternately, you can install M.I.R.C. and then install Ronologue, an
IRC client "interpreter" to run with it.

Personally, I've tried the Ronologue package and didn't much like it,
but I have never tried BOFH Net. I'd love some feedback on how well
this application works for chatting/file transfers on IRC.

HTH,

Paul

Re: [JAWS-Users] [JFW] JAWS at startup

2008-02-14 Thread Paul Shallbetter
A computer service specialist I know told me that even a busy desktop
(with background image), system sounds and things like automatic
update agents deprive the computer of resources everytime it's
booted. I have blanked my desktop and have removed many programs
from the startup sequence. It does in fact, help. Skype, AVG and to
a lesser
degree my N.D.A.S. (Net Disk) manager all consume quite a lot of
RAM...so I will try removing some of the less-essential apps from the
startup. Wish me luck!

Paul

P.S. Thanks to all for informative answers to my rather ignorant questions.

Re: [JAWS-Users] [JFW] JAWS at startup

2008-02-14 Thread Paul Shallbetter

I am running a XP Pro machine with 1 GB RAM and JAWS 7. Hate to say
it, but increasing the memory from the original 512 MB didnhelped
JAWS run better...but not much.

I might be wrong, but I've often wondered if the resource problem
doesn't come from Eloquence and that a separate soundcard or speech
synthesizer might solve a great part of the problem.

I've also wondered if different JAWS configurations are available,
i.e. a version for users who don't use the braille functionality, for
instance. Pardon my ignorance; I might be way out in left field on
both ideas.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS on thumb drives

2008-02-14 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Here's an odd, probably dumb question. I currently run JAWS 7 on my
XP Pro system. I am authorized, of course. Can I download the thumb
drive version/video intercept stuff, then authorize it with my existing key?

This solves a big problem of whether or not to bring the laptop when
I travel on vacation. The hotel where I stay is equipped with
several PC's and I only use my computer to retrieve contact info
and do e-mail when I travel. It would be very cool to carry a thumb
drive in my pocket instead of the laptop.

[JAWS-Users] [JFW] JAWS at startup

2008-02-13 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Group,

I too have had JAWS (7.0, Win XP Pro) belch and die during
startup. I noticed that Skype and JAWS both come up at about the same time.

JAWS is a wonderful program, but IMHO is unfortunately a real
resource hog, particularly if one is using the Eloquence
synthesizer. My solution was to take Skype out of the startup
sequence, then start it manually afterward. Since doing that, JAWS
has had no problems loading/starting. Also, AVG and JAWS seem to
slug it out once in awhile, with JAWS usually ending up the loser.

Am I wrong in describing JAWS as a "resource hog?" Does anyone have
actual stats on how much (i.e. what percent of) system resources JAWS
requires? Is there anything that can be done to tweak the memory
manager in Windows XP to accomodate JAWS requirements?

Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] What was the last really good version of Winamp?

2008-01-17 Thread Paul Shallbetter

I found Winamp v. 3.62 to be the most stable with JFW versions prior
to 7.0. This however is just my opinion.

The biggest problem I've found with later WinAmp versions is that the
library is nearly inaccessible, and the playlist editor seems much
harder to use. This could be the result of user error (mine) or
something intrinsic to WinAmp, but I never used to have the problems
I'm experiencing now with WinAmp 5.11.

Re: [JAWS-Users] strange thing happening with windows media palyer

2008-01-17 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Hi,

When an mp3 is encoded, it can be encoded at 44.1kHz, the normal
encoding resolution for audio CDs, for instance. Bitrate (the number
of bits used during a given time period in an audio stream) is another matter.

If the files are playing at double speed, I'd guess that they were
encoded at 22.05 kHz instead of 44.1. If this is the case,
"resample" the file in GoldWave and then save it under its original
filename. Problem solved.

You can write me off-list if I can help walk you through this. It's
pretty easy to do, but I'm not great at explaining things.

Let me know if I can help.

[JAWS-Users] [JAWS] New Google accessible search for blind/visually impaired

2008-01-16 Thread Paul Shallbetter
First I will past the link then under the link I will post the information.

Read the information before using the link.

http://labs.google.com/accessible/

Accessible Search FAQ

What is Google Accessible Search?
Accessible Search is an early Google Labs product designed to identify and
prioritize search results that are more easily usable by blind and visually
impaired users. Regular Google search helps you find a set of documents
that is most relevant to your tasks. Accessible Search goes one step
further by helping you find the most accessible pages in that result set.

How does Accessible Search work?
In its current version, Google Accessible Search looks at a number of
signals by examining the HTML markup found on a web page. It tends to favor
pages that degrade gracefully --- pages with few visual distractions and
pages that are likely to render well with images turned off. Google
Accessible Search is built on Google Co-op's technology, which improves
search results based on specialized interests.

Why is Google offering this?
Accessible Search is a natural and important extension of Google's overall
mission to better organize the world's information and make it universally
accessible. Google Accessible Search is designed to help the visually
impaired find the most relevant, useful and comprehensive information, as
quickly as possible.

In the past, visually impaired Google users have often waded through a lot
of inaccessible websites and pages to find the required information. Our
goal is to provide a more useful and accessible web search experience for
the blind and visually impaired.

How do you decide which sites are "accessible" and which are not?
Broadly, Google defines accessible websites and pages as content that the
blind and visually impaired can use and consume using standard online
technology, and we've worked with a number of organizations to determine
which websites and pages meet those criteria. Our methods for identifying
accessible pages and content are always evolving; Currently we take into
account several factors, including a given page's simplicity, how much
visual imagery it carries and whether or not its primary purpose is
immediately viable with keyboard navigation.

How can sites make their content more accessible to the blind?
Some of the basic recommendations on how to make a website more usable and
accessible include keeping Web pages easy to read, avoiding visual clutter
-- especially extraneous content -- and ensuring that the primary purpose
of the Web page is immediately accessible with full keyboard navigation.
There are many organizations and online resources that offer Website owners
and authors guidance on how to make websites and pages more accessible for
the blind and visually impaired. The W3C publishes numerous guidelines
including Web Content Access Guidelines that are helpful for Website owners
and authors. Broad adherence to these guidelines is one way of ensuring
that sites are universally accessible.

Does Accessible Search Filter Out Inaccessible Content?
No. First of all accessible is a very subjective measure --- what's more,
queries can vary widely with respect to how accessible the results are. As
an example, if you are looking for information such as weather forecasts or
reference material such as the definition of an unfamiliar term, the result
set often consists of both accessible and inaccessible content. In these
cases, Google Accessible Search promotes those results that have been
measured to be more accessible. On the other hand, if the particular query
is about video games, the chances are fairly high that a majority of the
best results for that query will be visually busy pages. So in the final
analysis, we never filter content in Google Accessible Search; we pick the
best results exactly as we do with regular Google search, and then re-order
the top results by their level of accessibility.

The Result Set Looks Identical To Regular Search?
The operational word in the above question is looks. Google Accessible
Search does not in any way change the look and feel of Google search
results. What it does (see earlier question) is to re-order results based
on how accessible they are.

Navigating Search Results
After Google Accessible Search was launched, many of our users sent us
feedback about the results page (both Google Accessible and regular search)
being difficult to navigate with screenreaders. In response, we have
updated the results page in both cases to have section headers that can be
used in conjunction with screenreader hotkeys to quickly skim through the
page. Thus, once Google has responded to your search query, use your access
technology's "move by section" keys to move between the section that
displays sponsored ads and the individual results.

How Can I Perform More Complex Searches?
Notice that
http://labs.google.com/accessible
has a link to Advanced Search
in addition to the simple text box. Use this link to access Google Adva

[JAWS-Users] [JAWS] Lame-enc.dll for Gold Wave correction

2008-01-13 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Lois et al,

I couldn't get a download completed from that site. I have the dll
in my library already and haven't had to look for it in awhile.
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?lame_enc

I successfully downloaded this file about five minutes ago. It
decompressed just fine using WinZip.

There you go!

Paul

P.S. Sorry about the bad link in the previous message.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Gold Wave versus Switch

2008-01-13 Thread Paul Shallbetter
Al,

GoldWave is super-simple.

Select File menu, then arrow down to "Batch Processing" A dialog box opens.

Select the Add Files button. You can pull files from numerous directories.

Once you've selected the files you want to convert (and they can be
from numerous formats), you tab down to ...Save files as..." and
select mp3 (or whatever file type you want).

Tab again to get to "attributes" and arrow up or down through the
various bitrates and whether you want the files saved as stereo or monaural.

The converted files are saved in the same directories from whence
they came, although I believe that you can specify a "save" directory
in the Options menu.

The only slightly inconvenient thing with Gold Wave is that the
encoder is not included with the software. You need to download
lame.enc, widely available for free download from the Internet and
unzip it into your Gold Wave parent directory. Once this is done
however, the conversion to mp3 is very easy.

Gold Wave is "crippleware," but I really hate that term. The
software is fully functional for a generous number of "processes,"
and batch conversion is considered a single process (i.e. each file
in the batch is not considered a separate process).

At under forty dollars, I think it's a good deal.

Furthermore, Gold Wave does much more than convert files. It is a
complete audio file editing package, which permits recording and
manipulation of sounds. If all you're trying to do is to convert
between file formats, it may be more than you want or need.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Real Player

2008-01-11 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Addendum,

I deleted Al's question about how GW compares with Nero for conversion.

Gold Wave is slow on my 1.7 GHz Centrino-fueled laptop, running XP
Pro and JFW 7.0. I found Nero much harder to navigate, but I think
it might be a hair faster. I have no data to support this; it's just
the impression I got while trying both.

GoldWave is superbly easy to navigate with tab and arrow keys, and
JAWS reads most dialogs flawlessly, thanks to the available scripts.

HTH,

And it's just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Real Player

2008-01-11 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Hello group:

There are numerous utilities out there which will convert between
audio file types, including Sound Cab (not very JFW friendly) and Switch.

I use Gold Wave's batch processing function to convert between any of
20-odd different sound file types, including MP3 (all sizes), WMA, OG
and others.

The Goldwave software has been extensively reported on at blind cool
tech and other sites. It's $40.00 or so to register, but works for a
very long time as an unpaid demo. I paid for my copy, as I use it
for a lot of studio tasks around here. Good software.

[JAWS-Users] [JAWS] Kudos to FS Customer service

2008-01-09 Thread Paul Shallbetter
I had to contact FS yesterday about a licensing issue and to get some
information about renewing my SMA and upgrading to JAWS 9.0.

What a wonderful experience! Thanks to Theresa at FS for her
professional and friendly help. It is nice toknow that I can count
on FS to lend help when they are able to do so.

Sincerely,

Re: [JAWS-Users] accessible reminder web sites and program

2008-01-07 Thread Paul Shallbetter

Hey all,

From the description on the website, it looks like Calendar Magic is
serious overkill. Frankly, I don't need to know what day it is under the
Tibetan calendar I also wonder how well it works with JAWS,
considering that there are numerous options for changing colors, etc.
within the software.

I have used the crude but effective Talking Toolbox from
http://www.braillesuperstore.com for months. It features numerous
reminder functions, alarm clocks and the like. No, it's not free, and I
seldom use any of the other tools in the box (basic word processor,
e-mail), but as a calendar I have not found anything easier to use. Just
my opinion.
