[JAWS-Users] Difficulty with e mailing JAWS
I have 15.0 and Win 7 and use WLM. I am able to receive and reply to the JAWS e mails, but when I try to send a new message, it seems not to go through. I'll use the JAWS users address on my contacts list and I see a copy of the message in my "sent" folder but never get a message or a copy in my "in box". I have tried sending messages through the JAWS "help" link from the web site and I still do not see the message in my sent folder or in box. What am I doing wrong? Thank you. [JAWS-Users] Unable to send e mail to JAWS
I have 15.0 and Win7. I receive e mails from the list and I am able to reply to them. But, when I try to send a new message, it does not go through. I have tried using the address of JAWS Users from my contacts list and will see the message in my "sent" folder, but never see my message in my "in box". Earlier today, I sent a e mail from this link from the JAWS web site and did not see the message in my "sent" folder or in my "in box". What am I doing wrong? Thank you. [JAWS-Users] Trouble sending message to JAWS
I have Win 7 and 15.0. I've sent messages to the JAWS list but do not receive the message in my In Box, even though the message is in the Sent folder. I'm wondering if I have the wrong address? I used the link on the help page to send this message. When I reply to an existing message, the message goes through. I'm using WLM and see the JAWS in the address /contact section. Is there a way to know if I have something wrong with the address in WLM? Thanks. Rich For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Question on Media Center.
Hi all, I have Win 7 and 15.0. I was playing with Windows Media Center, looking how to utilize the internet TV and other features. I was clicking on all types of options to see what would happen. Now, when I boot up the PC, Media Center starts up and I can’t close out of it. Could someone tell me what this program does and steps to use it? Or, how to un-use it. I was clicking on options like, set up speakers, monitor, settings etc. I have no idea how these adjustments may effect my computer now. Sometimes, I think I should listen to my wife who tells me not to experiment with things I don’t know about, but, I seem to learn better that way. Thanks so much. [JAWS-Users] Edit field in WLM
Hi all, 15.0, Win 7 and WLM. When I send a new e mail, It seems that the edit field will only hold about 3 words on 1 line. When I hit the read all command, all I get is the word,”edit” repeatedly. I seemed to have success by hitting the menu key and arrowed down to “Maximize”. Is there a way to keep this setting so I don’t have to go through this process every time I compose a new message? Re: [JAWS-Users] bin
Hope thisis helpful, it's from a while ago. Rich /// 12/2012.1. If you haven't done so then go to Add/remove programs and uninstall anything that remotely resembles 'bing' in the listing. 2. Hit the windows key to go to the windows7 edit search field and type msconfig. then go to the services tab, make sure 'hide all Microsoft services' is unchecked and then go down the long list there to see if you can find any listing with the word 'bing' in it. uncheck them, hit apply, then Ok and then you need to restart your computer. 3. Again go to the windows search edit field by hitting the windows key and type regedit. In the results, hit enter on regedit.exe. Now no need to be scared of screwing up your registry as if all you do is what I say below you will be just fine. You don't need to be any PC expert to do this in your registry. Once in the registry after hitting enter on regedit.exe, hit control F and type in bing. then hit alt F. You are searching for any entry in the super vast registry files and folders for any entry with the words bing in it. Each time you land on a result, hit the delete button, ignore any doom/gloom msg and accept the yes button. After deleting the first entry with the word bing in it, hit F3 to jump to continue the same search and repeat the delete process if it finds another entry with 'bing' in it. Hit F3 again and so on and so forth until you have deleted every registry entry with the word 'bing' in it. /// -Original Message- From: Marilyn Walker Sent: Saturday, July 19, 2014 3:01 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] bin Fred, did anyone try the Microsoft accessibility number in regard to this Bing problem. [JAWS-Users] Speaker volume adjustment
Hi all, I have JAWS 15.0 and Win 7, and a sound bar for my speakers. A friend was helping copy a music CD to my PC the other day, and had “JAWS” off. When I turned the computer on, the sound quality sounded muffled. Almost the difference in stereo vs mono. Usually my volume is around a number 4 setting, now I have to have it at 14. I searched around control panel and the volume features but could not influence the quality of the sound. I checked the balance and a few other options but nothing made a difference. Here you go, from Jaws training: The Virtual Ribbon Menu Feature - New in JAWS 12 Introduction The ribbon is a new style of menu available in many new applications being released today. Ribbons first appeared in Office 2007 programs, but are now becoming more common in other applications tailored for the WindowsR 7 operating system. Ribbons create an accessibility challenge due to inconsistent navigation between various groups and items. For example, the lower ribbon contains groups of icons, sometimes arranged in several rows. When you press the ARROW keys to move between items in a group, you can skip items if there is a row above or below the one you are on. When pressing the ARROW keys or TAB, no indication is given when focus leaves one group and enters another. You cannot use first letter navigation in the ribbons, because pressing keys might activate ribbon key tips. Finally, because of a group's layout, you do not know if you should navigate up, down, left, or right to select an item. The new virtual ribbon menu feature in JAWSR screen reading software provides predictable navigation, lets you see everything in the ribbon, and offers consistency when navigating with the ARROW keys. For example, each group on the lower ribbon is treated as a submenu. Once you open the group submenu, you can press DOWN ARROW to move through all of the items within that group. When you reach the bottom of the items in that group, focus wraps back to the top item, and vice versa. You can also use first letter navigation in the virtual ribbon menu. Here are a few keystrokes to help you get started using the virtual ribbon menu: list of 6 items . Move from one ribbon tab to another, ALT to move to the first tab, then LEFT or RIGHT ARROW. FYI, I Tunes usually brings files into the system using a format called M4 A. That is not MP3. Some systems will not recognize it. The only way I know to bring those into the MP3 format is with some kind of converting software. For example, if you have Gold Wave on your system, you could record the song, then save it as an MP3. If I remember correctly, if you install MSSE in Windows 7 it turns off Windows Defender. However, if you are using Avast, AVG or some other antivirus program in Windows 7 then you can use Windows Defender as an antispyware application. It's kind of strange but in Windows 7 Microsoft made MSSE their antivirus and antispyware program and turned off Windows Defender when MSSE gets installed, but in Windows 8 they chose Windows Defender for their antivirus protection. If you are using Malware Bytes, Super Antispyware or some other antispyware program, using Windows Defender in Windows 7 is a matter of preference. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for "spell checker".
Hi all, I clicked on the link for TinySpell and followed the prompts for the free download. When I tried to open it up after saving it then running it.I got a message that said it could not be opened. I went in to "Programs and Features" and saw at least 3 programs that were added for today's date that I did not pick out. So, I uninstalled all of them including TinySpell. Is it normal to get additional programs when you try to download just one? p.s. I apologize for the possible edit field on my replies, but I do not know how to adjust the edit field to have longer or bigger lines. Hi all, I have 15.0 and Win 7. I have Windows Media Player and VLC on a new ASUS PC. I am having trouble when running a CD &/or DVD. The CD will play, but I am unable to go back and forth from 1 track to another. I've been using the JAWS curser in the menu section and clicking on stop/pause/next/back with no actions responding on the disc. Also, when I put the JAWS 15.0 disc to run a repair, it was complicated getting the disc to run. I initially was given a host of options like, audio in either VLC or Media player, run in Dropbox, and many other options. Please help with any suggestions. My thinking is it does exactly what it says. You could block out the entire domain for example GMail.com. I don't suggest you do that though. I did find something called Microsoft word starter under Microsoft office. It seems to work similar to XP's Microsoft word. [JAWS-Users] Important - Email Issue with Outlook Express and U-Verse
I have XP home and 13. Yesterday, I had Uverse, through AT&T, installed. They gave a new modem and router. Since then, I am unable to send messages through O E. I receive messages okay, and everything else with the computer seems to work well. When I am on the internet, and access my e mail, I am able to send messages that way. After talking to tech support at Uverse, I was told that my O E needs to be configured to work with Uverse. I’ve gone through the settings in O E for accounts/properties/etc. The only change that seemed major was increasing the speed in the “port” section for outgoing messages to 587. I also have a second computer that is working on wifi, and I now have the same, “send” issue. Are there any other settings I need to change? Or, does anyone have suggestions on how to configure O E with Uverse? On the same topic, if I were to change to Outlook, what should I be aware of? Is it an easy upgrade and would it work better with future computer changes? What would I need to do to transition from O E to Outlook? And, would this be a good thing to do since, O E seems to be less compatible with upcoming technology? Thanks!
