[JAWS-Users] setting up group lists in outlook 2010

2014-05-29 Thread Trish Ebel
Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how to set up a group distribution list for outlook 2010?
I looked it up but am not having luck with getting it saved. I can go as
far as getting all of the names I want in one bulk email but that is as far
as I get.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

hello trish;

actually,
let me try to simplify the steps,

1, ctrl+shift+l=create distribution list,

2, you now need to type in the preferred name,

3, now just press enter,
you will land into the members list,
however, jaws won't read,
so just use the keystroke,
alt+h+t
or, if you wanted, you could access the ribbon, make sure your on the
distribution list, and use the tab key to get to the add members button.
anyway, once you press the alt+h+t,
tab to the list,
arrow to select a name to place into the distribution list, now tab to
members button, press enter.

now, you can tab back around to place yourself back into the contacts, list,
not sure if you can add more then one client at a time.

hope this helps.

Hi, Ed,
This information is taken from:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/get-delivery-and-read-receipt
-confirmations-HP010355029.aspx

A delivery receipt confirms delivery of your email message to the
recipient's mailbox, but not that the recipient has seen it or read it. A
read receipt confirms that your message was opened.
In Microsoft Outlook, the message recipient can decline to send read
receipts. There are other scenarios where read receipts are not sent, such
as if the recipient's email program doesn't support read receipts.

I hope, this helps.

[JAWS-Users] junk folder

I have been using outlook express on my home computer for a few years now.
Within my list of folders there is not a junk folder, therefore I have been

something because my screen reader is not reading the list of messages at all.
I'm guessing my junk folder is hidden? Does anyone know how to find it within

jaws?
Any advice is appreciated!

Hello there;
Well, I'm not sure if this works in outlook2003,
However,
In outlook2007outlook2010,
If you wish to add an attachment,
1, navigate to the folder where the file resides which you wish to attach
to

an email.
Copy to clipboard.
Note you don't enter on the file just highlight and copy.
Now, open outlook2003,
Type in recipient's name/email,
Now, tab to subjectline, and type in subject,
Now tab to the edit/body of the message, and paste.
If you shift+tab you should see your attached file.
Let me no if this works with outlook2003.
As for saving attachments,
You probably need to navigate back to the default folder.

First: I've been having an issue when attempting to either save
attachments
or attach a document to an email. I tried to save an attachment today and
I
wanted it to go to Documents. But windows wouldn't allow me to save it to
a

folder with that name. I finally saved it to one of the subfolders I'd
created within it. Can anyone explain how to save an attachment in the
Documents folder? I also have had difficulty retrieving a document to
attach

to an email from there.

Second: I would have been quite happy to just read the attachment and was
told I could do this by using insert A. But this hasn't worked. Does
anyone

have any other suggestions?

Third: Later, after having had to save the attachment to a folder other
than

Documents, I converted an email to a text file and saved it. Usually, it
automatically gets saved in Documents. But it wasn't there. I found it in
the sub folder where I'd previously been forced to save my email
attachment.

Obviously, the path was changed. Now, I don't know how to get it back to
where it's supposed to be, saving in Documents.

Miriam

Yes, this is the contact list not the wlm address contacts. In the
contact
list I have about 20 entries with phone numbers that sinc with my i

The windows live mail contacts or address I have over 100 addresses and 5

So I would want to create a group in wlm contacts not the user contact

 Hi Lenny,

 Try going to your contacts folder in;

 C:\Users\NameFolder\Contacts\

 1. Open the contacts folder.
 2. Tab to the organize button.
 3. Now, right arrow to, New Contact Group button follow the steps below
 from there .

1.Tab to the Organize button, which is the first control on the Toolbar.
2.Press Right Arrow until you get to the New Contact Group button, and
then
 press it.
3.A Contact Group Properties dialog opens. This is a two page dialog, and
it
opens on the Contact Group page, which is described in detail in the
Editing
Contact Groups section below. However, the following steps describe how
to

name the group and add existing contacts.
4.Type a name for the group into the Group Name edit box.
5.To add existing Contacts to the group, Tab to the Add to Contact Group
 button, and press it.
6.An Add Members to Contract Group dialog opens, which has a similar
layout
to the standard Vista Open dialog. By default the view of the Folder view
is
Tiles, so the first time you use this dialog it's worth setting the view
to
List. To do this, press Shift + Tab twice to move to the Folder view, but
do
not select any files. Open the context menu, then open the View sub-menu,
 and choose List.
7.In the Folder view, select one or more Contacts or Contact Groups, and
then press Enter to press the default Add button.
8.You're returned to the Contact Group Properties dialog, where the focus
is
the Add to Contact Group button. Because the focus is a button, you can't
just press Enter to press the default OK button. Instead, either Tab all
the
way to the OK button and press it, or just Tab to a control which isn't a
button or a link, and then press Enter. Sending messages using your
contact
groups In a similar manner to using contacts, you can send messages using
 your
contact groups either in a New message window, or from your Contacts
folder.

In a new message window, you can type in the names of contact groups,
just

as you would the names of contacts. When the message is sent, the name of
 the
group is replaced by all the addresses of the contacts.

 Alternatively, in your Contacts folder:

1.Select a Contact group. (In fact you can select more than one contact
 group, and contacts as well.)
2.Open the context menu, then open the Action sub-menu (access key A),
and

then press Enter to choose the first menu item which is Send E-mail.
3.A New Message window opens. All the contacts in the contacts group are
already entered in the To edit box, and the focus is at the end of the
Edit
 box.
Editing Contact Groups To edit a Contact Group in your Contacts folder,
select it and press Enter. A Properties dialog for the Contact Group
opens,
 and
you can then change and add information in this dialog.

The Contact group properties dialog is used both for creating and editing
contact groups. The dialog has two pages: Contact Group and Contact Group
 details.
The latter contains controls for optional data that you might want to
give

about the group. The controls on the Contact Group page are:

.A Group Name edit box. .An Add to Contact Group button for adding
existing
contacts or groups to this group. This was described above in the
Creating

a
new contact group section. .A Create New Contact button for creating a
new

contact and adding it to the group. .A List of group members list view.
.A
Remove Selected Contacts button. However to remove one or more

Hi Russ,
You are correct, it appears that Google has discontinued the mobile
version

of the maps, replacing it with an app that can be downloaded to a phone.
Not much help if you are using a PC. As the other person suggested, you
will have to go to the maps.Google.com and click on get directions. It
is

not as clean and simple as the mobile version once was, but it is usable.

It appears that more and more of the simple services which blind users
have

relied on are going by the wayside. That's progress.

Outlook Express. Also, to create a group distribution list click on the
link below;

http://www.jaws-users.com/text/email/OutlookExpress/OutlookExpressCreatingAGroupDistributionList.html

1. Open a new email.
2. Press Alt + T, for tools, press R, for recipients, tab 3 times to the
address book list.
3. Arrow down or, use first letter navigation, through the list and for
each
person you want to send this email to, press the keystroke, Alt + B, on
each

name you want to send the email to.
4. When you have entered all the names you need, tab several times to the
BCC list arrow down to see if you got everybody. If you have included
everybody
you want, tab to the Okay button and press enter.
5. Now, tab to the subject field, enter your subject, tab to the edit
field,

put in your message, send as usual.

If you want to use the To or CC field instead, do steps 1 2 but,
on each name you want to enter press Alt + T, or Alt + C, for the To CC
fields
respectively. Then tab to the To or CC list, checkthe names, tab to Okay,

press enter. Then follow step 5 from above.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Hi Trish,

To save an attachment with Outlook Express do the following;
1. Open the email but, not the attachment.
2. Press Alt + F, for the file menu.
3. Arrow down to Save Attachments press enter.
4. Tab to Save To, My documents is the default place where attachments are
saved so, that should be showing in this, Save To, box. If not, tab to
browse make My documents the default.
5. Now that you know where the attachments will be saved, tab to the save
button press the spacebar. Be careful because if there is more than 1
item in the attachment, you will need to tab to, select all spacebar
this

option before pressing the spacebar on the save button.

Hope this helps. Take care.

After I open the email, I shift+ tab which moves the cursor up to the

Hi everyone,
Well, I guess it’s too early in the morning for my brain to be working. I
want to temporarily mute JAWS speech while working in the Bookshare Victor
player but can’t figure out how to do this on the fly. If I do it from
within JAWS, the speech obligingly returns when I enter the Victor player,
obviously the opposite of what I want to do. Can someone remind me of the
keystroke or whatever to do this? Btw, am using JAWS 12 and Windows 7 if
that matters. Many thanks.

Sure, but only so you can have your life back.

1. Go to your folders list.

2. Highlight the folder you want to delete. NOTE: You can't delete
those folders that come with OE like InBox, OutBox, etc.

3. Hit alt-f, then the F for folders submenu.

4. Arrow down to the Delete button and hit Enter.

More and more learning material at my office is coming out in PowerPoint.
I suppose it might be time for me to learn how to use the program with
JAWS, yes?
In that light, I'm looking for suggestions for the best way I might do
this.

Are their any tutorials, training sessions, etc., I might be able to use?
I might even be able to provide some compensation to anyone willing to
work with me on this learning project.

Thanks for any assistance.

Facebook

enthusiasts.

Hi,

Kim Komando just wrote about this fairly cool application call FTalk.
Works

on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

fTalk is a desktop messaging application that works with Facebook. Just
install it and sign in using your Facebook account information.

You'll immediately see all your online and offline friends. You can chat
without opening up your browser. It works like a regular instant
messaging
program. However, you can do Facebook-specific things at the same time,
like

updating your status.

http://www.ftalk.com/

No idea of how accessible it is. so if anyone tries it, please let me
know.

I would try it but do not have a face book account.

Hope this has helped 1 of you social networking people! Take care.

Actually,, what happens is that it is deleted of off Facebook, but for some
reason they store the information in case you ever want to reactivate your

I actually teach a Facebook class with using jaws for my firm and have set

gone and no one can get to your info unless you reactivate.

Hope this helps.

HI,
I must apologize, I just came down with strep throat yesterday and have
been under the weather. Slept most of the day.
First thing in the morning I will try the survey on my lap top which is
Windows 10. My home computer is XP, so maybe that is the reason.

Talk to you tomorrow.

The Control + Insert + KeyPad Enter should perform the mouseover
action. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell if the action it performed
was a graphic effect, adding extra text or more navigation links, or go
to another page like a normal link (probably with a special graphic
effect as well). Sometimes JAWS will announce that new text was added
at a certain line.

This actually was not what I am asking. Let us say I need to
copy a chapter from a textbook that is several pages long. How
can I do this, other than going paragraph by paragraph and
appending? I know sighted people can do this, and I can do it
quite easily with a notetaker.

Hi Kelby,

Try the information below to see if this will do what you are
wanting to

accomplish.

The F8 key in Word is a Toggle. You press the F8 key a different
number of

times to select different amounts of text.
Pressing the F8 key 1 time turns extended selection mode on. In
this mode

you can arrow up or down to select text line by line.
Pressing the F8 key 2 times will copy the highlighted word.
Pressing the F8 key 3 times will copy the sentence the cursor is
in.
Pressing the F8 key 4 times will copy the paragraph the cursor is
in.

Pressing the F8 key 5 times will copy the document.

Hope this has helped. Take care.
Mike

Brief question from a first-timer. Is there a way to block
text--as in multiple paragraphs--for selection in a document
with
JAWS? Like highlighting a certain section of thedocument that
is

not just a line, word or paragraph for copying and/or cutting?

Use the m.facebook.comma. It is much easier to use than the facebook site
itself. You have to setup an account giving your email address or phone

out so you will need firefox and webvisum or salona and qwitter I believe
it is as I don't use that program. I hope I am telling you right because
