Tom,

I have never encountered a situation where cut and paste did
not work. Send me an example sometime if you come across
one.

As Peter said cut and paste is not an option. There are
situations where cut and paste don't work and dragging is
the only option.
The problem with the drag and drop I found that it seems to
work with in the same window but doesn't work when trying to
drag something from one window to another window.
Of course it may be just me but hopefully some one else has
a better experience.

Peter,

Over the years, the consensus of this list has been to
simply use cut & paste, a lot simpler and consistent in
results.

Has anyone been able to successfully drag and drop a file?
I got this requirement to do that, and can't seem to get it
to work. Cut and Paste isn't an option in this case. When
I try to drag .. it either doesn't do anything or comes back
and tells me the object isn't visible. Thanks for any help.

2015-11-19 Thread Peter . Logan
Appreciate the suggestion .. but it has to be a true drag and drop ... I
will just wait and do it when I got someone around with working eyes ...
It was part of a backup drive step to get additional cloud storage ... I
agree that cut and paste is the way that works ...but thanks to Microsoft
and Seagate for making it have to be a drag and drop ...

 What up bro:

I have 9 items on my taskbar. The last item is my shutdown shortcut,
so all I have to do is press windows key 9 to shutdown quickly. If
I'd like to place it at number 1, I simply focus on that item then
press CTRL numpad slash and jaws will say: To drag and drop place the
jaws or pc curser in the dropped location and press CTRL numpad slash.
After jaws says that, I tapped my left or right arrow key until I got
to internet explorer which for me I know is the first item on the
taskbar, then I pressed the above keystroke again and it worked for
 me.
Now what was item 9 is now item 1. When I dragged and dropped my 9th
item over to the first item, the first item became the second item on
 the taskbar.

 Yo Bro,

When I put focus on an item on the Taskbar press, Control + Slash, I
hear
Control Mouse click the focus is taken to the desktop or where ever,
like
my In-box. I believe I have Drag Drop turned off but, I don't
recall where to turn that back on again. Would someone please refresh my
 memory?

When I dragged and dropped my 9th
item over to the first item, the first item became the second item on
 the taskbar.

due to jaws 16 or just I got lucky. Thoughts on drag and drop so

You press control JAWSKey NumpadSlash, to invoke the JAWS drag-and-drop
capability. For this to work, the JAWS cursor must be 'pointing at' the
object to be dragged. you repeat the keystroke when you've got to where
you want to drop the object.

Caps and jkl are are left arrow current letter, and right arrow respectively
Go up above the jkl to uio and there is where you will find the / that you
need
I don't use this combination as I have my lap top set to desk top since I
have a full num pad on muy lap top

I think this is accurate but not totally sure

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Drag and Drop when Jaws is in laptop mode

Hello all, and please forgive this possibly ridiculous question from a list
newby!

I am currently experimenting with Google Plus using firefox and Jaws12 (a
whole other subject, I suspect). I've run into the need to drag and drop
items, but can't seem to do so. I've dug around and discovered a command
that seems to work for users who still have access to the numPad, but I am
working on a laptop and have Jaws configured accordingly. Most instructions,
including those on this page, suggest control+insert+NumPadSlash to pull up
the drag and drop page. If there is a laptop equivalent to NumPadSlash, I'm
afraid I don't know what it is. When I try the command using the laptop jaws
key and the regular keyboard slash key, it brings up a list of clickable
elements.

If someone has any tips to set me straight in terms of this function, or
even laptop keystrokes in general, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks and all the best,
Michelle

Hi Kimsan,

Below are the keystrokes for dragging dropping.

Use the key strokes, (CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH) for Drag and Drop .
This is used to drag items from one location and drop them in another.
Position the JAWS Cursor on the item you wish to move and press
CTRL+INSERT+NUM
PAD SLASH. You can leave the JAWS Cursor active, or you can switch to the PC
Cursor. JAWS will keep speaking as you navigate. Once you have positioned
the JAWS or PC Cursor in the location to which you would like to move the
item, press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH again, and the item will be moved to
the position of the active cursor.
I have never tried these keystrokes before so, it beats the hell out of me
if they work or not! LOL Hope they help. Take care.

He means the slash on the numpdad , that is the number pad on the right
side of the keyboard.
You may not have this if you are using a laptop without a full sized
keyboard. It is generally good to get a full-sized USB Keyboard to use
with Jaws on a laptop if you want easy access to all Jaws commands.

Take care.
Mike

I personally find it very easy to use the save to option and put your files
any where you want.

You better off using copy and paste if you can.

I think it has something to do with locking the jaws cursor on the exact
spot and then moving it to where you want it and then unlocking the
cursor.
The lock and unlock command, I discovered quite by accident, is the Jaws
or

insert key and the slash key on the number pad. It's a toggle. HTH.

I wish I knew the answer to this one, because the only part of NFL
fantasy football that seems to be inaccessible involves ranking players
for the initial draft where you have a list of all eligible players and
you have to drag and drop the players you want up to the top of the
list.

It is possible but for most cut paste works better and is
less frustrating. I gave up on drag drop about 3 versions
ago
