Re: [JAWS-Users] Drag and drop ...
Appreciate the suggestion .. but it has to be a true drag and drop ... I will just wait and do it when I got someone around with working eyes ... It was part of a backup drive step to get additional cloud storage ... I agree that cut and paste is the way that works ...but thanks to Microsoft and Seagate for making it have to be a drag and drop ... Peter Logan Database Administrator SpartanNash INC. certainly we visually impaired or blind computer users don’t use a mouse, there are some programs out there that have a drag and drop interface. how do I do that since I don’t use a mouse? I can basically guess I’d cut the file needed to drop into the open program then paste it. am I correct? can somebody clear this up for me? email is golden ! Hi Kevin, I am not saying that there isn't some use for it, but in almost 14 years of using a computer I have not found drag and drop to be necessary. A simple cut or copy and paste works just fine. Re: [JAWS-Users] drag and drop using jaws
You press control JAWSKey NumpadSlash, to invoke the JAWS drag-and-drop capability. For this to work, the JAWS cursor must be 'pointing at' the object to be dragged. you repeat the keystroke when you've got to where you want to drop the object. - Original Message - From: leonard morris lmorris1...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, December 07, 2011 1:53 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] drag and drop using jaws I am using an app that seems to require using drag and drop rather than copy and paste. I am currently experimenting with Google Plus using firefox and Jaws12 (a whole other subject, I suspect). I've run into the need to drag and drop items, but can't seem to do so. I've dug around and discovered a command that seems to work for users who still have access to the numPad, but I am working on a laptop and have Jaws configured accordingly. Most instructions, including those on this page, suggest control+insert+NumPadSlash to pull up the drag and drop page. If there is a laptop equivalent to NumPadSlash, I'm afraid I don't know what it is. When I try the command using the laptop jaws key and the regular keyboard slash key, it brings up a list of clickable elements. If someone has any tips to set me straight in terms of this function, or even laptop keystrokes in general, I'd be very grateful. Hi Kimsan, Below are the keystrokes for dragging dropping. Use the key strokes, (CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH) for Drag and Drop . This is used to drag items from one location and drop them in another. Position the JAWS Cursor on the item you wish to move and press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH. You can leave the JAWS Cursor active, or you can switch to the PC Cursor. JAWS will keep speaking as you navigate. Once you have positioned the JAWS or PC Cursor in the location to which you would like to move the item, press CTRL+INSERT+NUM PAD SLASH again, and the item will be moved to the position of the active cursor. I have never tried these keystrokes before so, it beats the hell out of me if they work or not! LOL Hope they help. Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] drag and drop
He means the slash on the numpdad , that is the number pad on the right side of the keyboard. You may not have this if you are using a laptop without a full sized keyboard. It is generally good to get a full-sized USB Keyboard to use with Jaws on a laptop if you want easy access to all Jaws commands. I am afraid that even when the drag and drop command is deployed in Jaws the results are hit and miss. Generally if the program has poor accessibility anyway the Jaws virtual drag and drop does not seem to work. Worth a try but do not get your hopes up.
