Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7 Start Menu
Hi Rick, there's a jaws guide to the taskbar in windows 7 which describes the structure and the navigation of the start menu, and it's available here: http://bit.ly/cJ37BN As already mentioned on the list, the search box is in fact at the bottom of the left hand column of the start menu. David. original message: In Windows XP and earlier, you could down arrow, or up arrow thru the start menu. In Windows 7, it is my understanding that the search box is at the top of the start menu, if this is true, why can't I down arrow in the start menu? Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7 Start Menu
Well already answered that one, but will again, also to why some think this is off topic. When you hit start menu in windows7 you get a search field, nothing like xp, its a whole new ball game. See the problem your having is not with jaws or has anything to do with jaws. That is why off topic. When you open that up and arrow down it closed, because nothing has ben searched for. However, if you do a up arrow or a left arrow. You will find lists of many choices to choose from. personally the computing list or a windows7 list would of fit the bill, but not a mod here. I just answer questions. At 10:05 AM 1/3/2011, you wrote: If it were a general question, I would have posted it to the blind-computing list. You can easily pin items to the start menu using the applications key. Go to programs, to the one you want on the menu, press the applications key, and press enter on 'pin to start menu'. the program will be listed immediately under the search window, or under any program that is already there. Rick, Like you when I first started windows 7 I did not like that. Now I think it is the best thing since sliced bread. For example if I wanted to defrag I use to have to go to accessories, system tools and defrag. now just type def and hit enter. Type e and enter and internet explorer is launched. I can also just arrow down and the rest of start menu is available. -Original Message- From: Rick Justice Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2011 8:34 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7 Start Menu I am not new to computers, and I doubt that it is quicker. I'm not at all crazy about Windows7 nor the new settings center in JAWS12, but since there's no going back, one can only grin and bear it and hope that it all gets easier with time. [JAWS-Users] Windows 7: Start Menu and recommended settings
Hi listers, yesterday I read an article about what all has been changed in windows 7 as opposed to vista, what has been omitted, added and so forth. One of the things it said was that windows 7 no longer has the option to change the start menu to classic start menu. Does this cause any problems with jaws? Also, does anyone who has had experience trying out windows 7 have some sort of list or manual I can check out about what the recommended settings and changes are that I should make to the OS, in order for it to run smoothly with jaws? Using jaws 10. Regards, chrissy For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7: Start Menu and recommended settings
Hi, the default Windows settings work absolutely fine with JAWS 10. One change I do make is to change the theme to Windows 7 Classic. This is to get ridk of the so called task switching list box which is very annoying and I can't get used to it for some reason. Otherwise all is well with Windows 7 and JAWS 10! -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopher...@googlemail.com MSN: ch9...@hotmail.com Skype: chrishallsworth7266 - Original Message - From: ChB chr1...@gmx.de To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 10:12 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows 7: Start Menu and recommended settings Hi listers, yesterday I read an article about what all has been changed in windows 7 as opposed to vista, what has been omitted, added and so forth.
