[JAWS-Users] System Restore Question
Hello, everyone. As I noted about an hour ago, doing a system restore solved my problem with the folder display list in Outlook 2016. However, for some reason, the first time I tried it, the system restore back to two days ago did not stay. When I got back into system restore, the "Undo system restore" option was checked, and I could not get down lower on the screen to check the option that lists restore points. I could find the option with my Jaws cursor, but could not access or check it using the P C cursor. I had to seek sighted assistance to get to this option. Does anyone have a work-around for this issue? Hopefully, my earlier system restore point will stay this time. Thanks all for your patience. Re: [JAWS-Users] System restore dates removal
Another way in Windows 7, is to open the start menu, and start typing Disk Cleanup When it opens, you just select the drive from the list, and tab to the okay button. This is an extra step compared to running the utility from the properties of the drive in computer. Additionally, you can see how many restore points, or shadow copies have been saved by doing the following: From the start menuu, in the search box, start typing device manager When the device manager opens, tab once to the tree-view of devices. Open the view menu, and arrow to show hidden devices, and press enter. Now, press the letter S, until you come to: storage volume shadow copies Open this with right arrow, and you will find a list of restore points. They will be listed as generic volume shadow copy. Pressing enter on any of these, will open the properties and from the details tab, and you can view information about the selected restore point. There will be a list of about 42 items, and moving to the installed date, you can see when the restore point was made. The method I first described, would be the preferred one, and part of routine maintenance. Hello Fred, While you can not add dates to the system restore setting, you can reset your system back to the date that EVAS install all of your original software. Unless you have updated the EVAS recovery settings, if you perform a restore to the date EVAS installed your software, you will loose all data and programs you have installed since. [JAWS-Users] System Restore Question
Good Morning All. I have a question regarding the System Restore feature. I am currently using JAWS 11 with Windows Vista (32 bit). I know for a fact (or at least in my experience) that JAWS does not work well with the system restore function because it does not read some of the operations. In the more current version of JAWS, has this issue been resolved? This is coming from a person with no useable vision. Many Thanks. NO problem. I understand that Jaws works well with system restore in normal operations. I just had a problem when I had to boot my computer into safe mode because of a problem with Jaws. Re: [JAWS-Users] System Restore Question
The only way I think you can get any speech in safe mode is with NVDA and a USB soundcard. Here is a post from a different list by a guy who has a method to get speech in safe mode. He doesn't use Jaws though. Hi, for all the techies who havent heard about this yet. audio in safe mode, download the keys from the sendspace link at the bottom Instructions while in safe mode I use NVDA as the screen reader, then dont need to install the video driver. how to use the keys if windows can boot ok windows is running then just press enter on the key, activate sound in safe mode.reg you need to say yes this will add keys to the safe boot tree in the registry that will enable the audio service to startup now you can boot into safe mode using the following 2 methods 1. press windows r to open the run box in the run box type, msconfig press enter the system configuration window will open either shift tab once to get up into the tabs use the right arrow, or use control tab find the boot tab its called the Boot tab in windows 7, boot.ini tab in xp once on the boot tab, start tabbing through the options you will find boot option Safe boot, you need to check this then tab once more you will find radio buttons use the arrow keys to choose either minimal or network if you are trouble shooting a connection issue you want network support, then choos network note, if you choose network, while you are connected to the internet you have no securety running. if you dont want network support, then choos mimimal now just tab to the ok button hit the space bar. on xp you will get a window saying need to restart, on windows 7 you will not recieve this need to restart the system yourself. while booting up, if you have user accounts setup, it will hang on this screen wait for you to choos a user put in the password On xp when the system boots into safe mode you will here the windows log on sound then you will hear a ding sound, the ding is a window stating you are in safe mode, just press enter to say ok. You will not get this ding sound in windows 7. dont forget things in safe mode are a lot slower, so wait a while for the desktop so on to load before you try to start NVDA In xp when you get NVDA running you may find a system configuration window saying, is in selective mode so on, I normally tab to never show this again check it, then tab to ok Once you are finished doing what you want to in safe mode, you need to go back into msconfig into the boot tab uncheck boot into safe mode. If you dont do this, you will just keep starting up in safe mode. 2. reboot after the bios screen hit f8, once the options come up, choos safe mode or safe mode with networking. how to use the keys If windows is broken wont boot up normaly boot into safe mode plug in a USB stick, I have named mine zebra, so all I do is open computer, by pressing windows e, press z, this then lands me on my stick then go into the stick I press, A to land on activate sound with safe mode.reg then hit enter on it, then hit enter again to say yes, and the keys are set. then you need to reboot back into safe mode for the audio service to start up. If the onboard audio doesnt startup, then you will need to use a USB headset. It works great its a reall help when trouble shooting issues. get the registry keys from http://www.sendspace.com/file/n9khxf Take my advice, I don't use it anyway. Yep, safe mode is the problem for speech, no driver. However, saw a fix posted and not tried yet it should work. At 10:26 AM 12/16/2011, you wrote: NO problem. [JAWS-Users] system restore and jaws
Hello all: I am having a problem with jaws and system restore. I attempted to use system restore on my computer to roll it back to an earlier time to fix some illegal operations issues with some other programs. Needless to say now I'm getting the following when I try to run jaws. Eloq.jls is missing one or more shared components are missing please re install jaws to fix this problem. Okay I figured as much so I try to do this and hear's what I get. This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vender to verify that this is a valid windows installer package. Now I'm at my wits end with this. I even get this error when de installing jaws 9. Can someone give me any suggestions short of undoing the restoration process? Re: [JAWS-Users] system restore and jaws
Could you try installing an earlier version - JAWS8, perhaps? Could you go back to a time still earlier? If not, the best thing might be to undo that system Restore, and then find another way to deal with the first set of [non-JAWS] problems. - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, December 29, 2007 6:50 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] system restore and jaws Hello all: I am having a problem with jaws and system restore.
