Yes, WLM 2012 works great in W-10 with Jaws. Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed reaching His goal. Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with good health. Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually balanced with wealth. Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where God sits. I must confess I have not been paying a lot of attention regarding going from Windows 7 to 10. However, I've decided I would bite the bullet. If I start narrator in Windows seven will Narrator talk me through the installation process? 3. When my sighted friend was showing me his windows 10 computer when narrator started running I heard something about screen reader users might want to switch to Internet Explorer instead of using Edge I think it is called. Is this still true? 4. Is there anything else Ishould consider when upgrading that I have not mentioned? Thanks much. "Every country has an idenity, history, customs, and culture. When it is done downloading, it will go through several screens itself updating your computer and will get it ready for windows 10. Next, there will be a screen asking you to except the license agreement, check the yes and press enter on next. Again, the program will run through several screens by itself. Next, press enter on install. now you will have no speech, this install takes 45 to 60 minutes to complete. After 1 hour, press the Windows key+enter key to turn on narrator. Wait for a few minutes if it does not come on right away. Almost done. press the next button. choose express settings. press the next button. if done right, in about 10 to 15 minutes, jaws will come on talking on the desktop in your new w-10 PC. Now, this is very important, uninstall and reinstall jaws 16 or 17. This will give you the maximum performance in the w-10 environment. Tips on how to do this. Go to programs and features, press enter on Jaws 16 or 17. Say yes, for your user’s account message. Uninstall Jaws, Keeping shared settings and personal settings. If the Jaws dialog does not tell you to restart, Turn Narrator on, Windows key+enter, restart your computer. Wait the appropriate time for restarting, turn Narrator back on, Windows key+enter. Go to your download folder where you have already put the latest Jaws 16 or 17, set up file. Press enter on the Jaws setup file. Follow the Jaws prompts, to install Jaws 16 or 17. After reinstalling jaws, no need for a restart here, jaws will come on talking with all your settings, except for 2 of them. Redo your shortcut key, control+ALT+j. Redo the setting to have jaws come on at the log-on screen. All your other settings will be remembered by Jaws. For whatever reason if the media tool fails the first time. Check for updates, restart, and run the tool again. In w-8.1, this method usually works the first time. In w-7, you may have to repeat this method two times. It is a little more difficult going from w-7, to w-10, then from w-8.1 to w-10. There are more drivers which much be updated by Microsoft for your w-7 computer to upgrade to w-10. After completing your upgrade to w-10, see my text file, on customizing w-10 with Jaws. Here is a drop box link with 33 tutorials for using win 10 Just enter on the link, go almost to the bottom of the page that comes up, and enter on the download link. You will have this folder with win 10 tutorials in it that will really get you started after you download this folder . Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] Upgrading to Windows 10, Microsoft Accessibility; Says sighted assistance necessary
Hi all, I just wanted you to know that you can up grade to Windows 10 with JAWS 16.0.4350 or JAWS 16.0.4463. You do not have to wait until you receive JAWS 17 to up grade. I up graded with JAWS 16.0.4350 and the experience couldn't have been better. You can use Narrator to do the last couple of steps and JAWS will come back talking. When it does, just remember to uninstall JAWS and Reinstall JAWS even if you upgraded from Windows 8.1. It makes things work so much better in Win 10 if you do. Take care. -Original Message- From: Mike Sent: Monday, November 9, 2015 12:27 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Upgrading to Windows 10, Microsoft Accessibility;Says sighted assistance necessary It appeared to me, when I purchased my new SMA for JAWS 18 and 19, and upgraded to 17, that the disk would cost $10. as I read somewhere, you can create a bootable DVD or USB but only after upgrading first, unless you purchase a retail or OEM copy of windows 10. Mario, Download and use a free utility called Rufus. It works faster and better than the Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. This program requires no installation onto your computer, and you can creat a bootable flash drive or disk with it. You can do an internet search for the download page. [JAWS-Users] Upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7
Hi Folks, Just changing the subject line to reflect the new route this thread has taken. I have just found out that one cannot simply do a re-format of the hard drive in order to install Windows 10, or to do a clean installation of Windows 10 and that Windows 10 must be installed as an upgrade. This is saddening, but alas, one can't really look a gift horse in the mouth. Some people have messaged me off-list and given me a few tips, such as uninstalling programs that I feel may interfere with the installation, and I'm still going to uninstall that really old sound card to see if that's the problem too, even though the Windows 10 upgrade assessment states that the sound card is not going to be a problem. In any case, if you want to read what I read about upgrading to Windows 10, please see the following link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows-10/why-activate-windows-10 I'll let you all know what happens. Re: [JAWS-Users] upgrading to Windows 10
Al, there are 2 major reasons to wait with Windows 10: 1. JAWS always has a while to catch up with a new version of Windows. 2. Microsoft does its testing on the market and so many changes come forth after a release of Windows and Office Suite products after the market uses it for a while. Thanks, I know jaws for word-processing, e-mail and internet, as well as file management tasks but I could never teach PowerPoint or Excel, these programs I use only when I have no choice and getting either of them to work outside of filling in a worksheet already prepared or reading a slide are over my head for the most part. I have three other screen readers on this computer, one I don't know well, its command structure is considerably different than JAWS and I have not taken much time to learn it, although I did solve a problem for someone using that one once. One reason I have not considered teaching is that I have no certifications or degrees and I don't do well if I have to keep repeating the same thing over more than two times. I normally can read something once, maybe twice depending on what I am doing while reading and do it at least I could until recent months. Not sure I have the patience to teach or explain it differently if my way does not work for someone else. Since in Windows 10 home edition, you won’t be able to defer updates, http://www.howtogeek.com/219166/you-won%E2%80%99t-be-able-to-disable-or-delay-windows-updates-on-windows-10-home/ you won’t be able to do much about it if it does happen. With Windows 10 Professional, and Windows 10 Enterprise, users have the option of taking updates after a few months, only after they’ve been extensively tested on home users (see previous link) – which makes using Windows 10 home great if you like being an early adopter and trying out new things (you can also sign up to be a Windows insider and download early builds of Windows 10 now before they launch, and get new features in future even before they are pushed out to Windows 10 home users. Read more here: https://insider.windows.com/Home/Index For home users, the idea of not having a choice about installing security updates is actually not so bad, as it will ensure that security updates are in fact up to date, and Windows 10 won’t be quite as in-your-face about updates as they have been on occasion in the past, but rather will download updates and install them as you reboot, as has been happening recently so many users won’t even notice except that the PC will take a bit longer to shut down on those occasions. Hi trish, Thank you for this mail. I'm going 10 Pro on my 2 laptops and say, 'later to 7.' Got to stay running with the horses, I notice you're up there in the pack.
