2015-05-12 Thread Mike Boyd
There is no answer to this issue. Microsoft cannot say why this happens to
some computers, nor can any other technical support group that I have spoken
to about it. The best thing that I found to help the problem is to get an
external hard drive, and move all of my media, documents, etc., anything
that is not required for the computer to operate, to the external drive.
This greatly increased the amount of free space on my internal drive, and
let the computer run much smoother with less freezes or other problems. You
can pick up a good external drive on Amazon or eBay for a good price, and a
500 GB drive would probably do for most people.

Hi Lynn,

Try the following to see if this will help:

DO you have the preview pane and preview handlers disabled? If not, try the
following.

To disable the preview pane:
1. Open Computer.
2. Tab until you hear command module toolbar, organize button
3. Press the spacebar to activate the menu.
4. Arrow down to the Layout submenu and select it.
5. Arrow down to Preview pane and press Enter to uncheck it.
6. See if the problem persists.

To disable preview handlers:
1. Open Computer.
2. Open the Tools menu.
3. Select Folder options.
4. Navigate to the View tab.
5. Tab to the treeview of options.
6. Arrow down until you find the setting labeled
Show preview handlers in preview pane
7. If it says that it is on, press the spacebar to toggle it off.
8. Tab to the Apply button and select it to save the changes.
9. Tab to the OK button press enter to close the Folder Options
dialog. If the setting was already off, then just skip steps 7 and 8.
10. See if the problem still persists.
Take care.

absolutely no links at all on the message anywhere so it can't be opened.
Has anyone else experienced this and how have you handled it? Tried the left

Re: [JAWS-Users] Windows Explorer not working:

2013-02-21 Thread Janie Degenshein
Not sure this is the info you desire but if it is I will be glad so here
goes:

***
Computer Freezing Up
Steps to rectify:
1. Windows Explorer, tools menu, Folder Options.

2. Control Tab to the View tab, and then tab to the tree-view of settings.
3. Press the letter S, until Jaws says:
show preview handlers in the preview Payne.
4. More than likely, this is checked, press the spacebar to uncheck it.
5. Tab to the apply button, spacebar, then tab to okay, spacebar to close
the dialogue.
hope this helps.

Are you asking about Windows 8? For the final release, I think you need
to wait until Microsoft announces it tomorrow.

I've been seeing this problem for quite some time on a 23 bit win7
machine.

Explorer crashes and then the user can't get back into any folder using
Explorer work about 5 or 10 minutes. We've switched to only
accessing files
through the legacy open dialog box for various programs. Otherwise,
forget
it. Another way we've found to sort of beat this thing is to
immediately

log off of windows and log back in, but who wants to keep doing that?

I am getting a windows explorer is not responding error message using
windows seven on my d: drive. I ran avast to check for viruses, an avast
boot scan, and checked the drive for errors. The system restore dates
only

reveal back two days when the problems seemed to have started. However,
nothing seems to fix the issue.

On this particular system, the problem started occurring just after the
install of Win7. I had allready activate several applications, so
reinstalling wasn't an option. I'm wondering if we're not dealing with
a hardware issue on that particular system because there were some
similar problems including Windows Explorer crashes when Vista was
installed. The problem was not carried over from Vista, however.
Windows 7 was installed on a brand new hard drive. When Wind 7 crashes
and I press Alt F$ to close the window, it says it is trying to find a
solution to the problem, but it never does really find anything, and it
doesn't tell me that either.
