[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - 4.0 and JBossCacheManager
According to jbossweb-tomcat50.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml, JBoss 4.0 uses org.jboss.web.tomcat.tc5.session.JBossCacheManager for HttpSessionReplication. But, http://www.jboss.org/developers/projects/jboss/tc5-clustering.html This document says Note that current implementation will be ported to JBoss4.1 (instead of 4.0) release in the near future. Is this wrong?, Or JBossCacheManager of 4.0 is different from that of 3.2.6 ? [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: NullPointerException: at org.jboss.ejb.plugins.local.Loc
When a java programme is executed by using the command 'java classname' a process called the JVM or Java Virtual Machine is started to execute the bytecode in the specified class. By starting JBoss and your application separately they are both running in their own JVMs and will both have their own java process running. Local insterfaces can only be used by components running within the JBoss JVM, this is why your servlet is able to access them. Generally access to entity beans should be wrapped by session beans and your remote application can then call the remote interface of the session bean that will then use the local interface of the entity beans. Switching to using remote interfaces for your entity beans will stop you from making use of CMR if you require it later. [JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - override jboss jaas?
Hi everyone, We've been trying to deploy a third party web application ( [url=http://ebxmlrr.sourceforge.net]omar[/url] ) on jboss 3.2.3, together with our own web application which acts as a proxy between omar and client. Omar and proxy use jaas to authenticate, and we have a 'custom' LoginModuleManager and CallbackHandler. However when trying to authenticate we get a #8218;#8220;javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: Password Incorrect/Password Required#8218;#8221;. The problem is that instead of the custom classes, the jboss Security Extensions classes are used, which of course causes our attempts to fail. I've looked at the JBoss JAAS howto, however I'm not sure which parts apply to my problem. How can I tell JBoss to use custom classes instead of the JBoss defaults, only for that specific webapplication? Thanks in advance, Wannes Sels View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3852201#3852201 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3852201 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business? I get it. That would probably be asking too much of the clients - knowing that they can't modify the object. [JBoss-user] [Javassist user questions] - Re: unable to locate the proper class - and some newbie ques
Wow, many questions! :) anonymous wrote : | 1- The ClassPool failed to locate the proper class file unless I specify the full path of the class location, eg - ./build/classes/com/org/solution/ | Javassist uses CLASS_PATH. The real problem in your code is not the class path. CtClass clas = pool.get(StringBuilder); This is unfortunately wrong. All the class names must be fully qualified. So you had needed to say com.org.solution/javaAssist/test/StringBuilder. (I have a plan to introduce a mechanism similar to import, though.) anonymous wrote : | is there any other way besides explicitly put the destination where I want to put the newly modified file by calling writeFile(java.lang.String directoryName). | ... Do you really need a way to change the default root directory? I appreciate if you are satisfied with writeFile(String)... :) anonymous wrote : | 3- Pruning and Frozen. What does these 2 mean? I know frozen means you can no longer modify the class whereas pruning is you can no longer read or load it. Is my assumption correct? | yes, frozen means you cannot modify the class. Pruning means method bodies in CtClass has been deleted to save memory space. This is becaues some users said they processed a large number of class files and thus caused memory shortage. You can still read member signatures of pruned CtClass. However, people including Bill Burke do not seem to like pruning. This memory space optimization might be turned off in the next release. : (pruning is off in the current HEAD in CVS.) Due to some dark side of Java class loaders, several classes must be loaded by the same class loader as other jre classes. If you're interesting, please read Section 3.2 in the Javassist tutorial. Hi I am using jboss-3.2.3 on unix and have some problems in production with datasources. Everytime a database is restarted or i change something in a datasource, i have to restart also my JBoss nodes too. tks for the quick reply... I am guessing if i use local interface, I can't test it by writing a simple client code(since it'll be run on its own vm)but I'll able to test it through a servlet connection or something. if I let my servlet use remote ejb interfaces to access ejb beans, would it be optimized by jboss?...for ex. jboss will notice that servlet and beans exist in same vm, and do something about it(make it reference locally or something?).. tks!! Yes, the article http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-dyn0302.html depends on 2.6. I showed a modified version of Listing 3 in the article above: | public class Dissect | { | public static void main(String[] args) { | if (args.length = 1) { | try { | // set up class loader with translator | Translator xlat = new DissectionTranslator(); | ClassPool pool = ClassPool.getDefault(); | Loader loader = new Loader(); | loader.addTranslator(pool, xlat); | | // invoke the main method of the application class | String[] pargs = new String[args.length-1]; | System.arraycopy(args, 1, pargs, 0, pargs.length); | loader.run(args[0], pargs); | } catch (Throwable ex) { | ex.printStackTrace(); | } | } else { | System.out.println | (Usage: Dissect main-class args...); | } | } | | public static class DissectionTranslator implements Translator | { | public void start(ClassPool pool) {} | public void onLoad(ClassPool pool, String cname) | throws NotFoundException, CannotCompileException { | System.out.println(Dissecting class + cname); | CtClass clas = pool.get(cname); | clas.instrument(new VerboseEditor()); | } | } In 3.0, Translator must be passed to Loader instead of ClassPool. Translator#onWrite() was renamed into #onLoad because of this move. This is for clarifying the role of ClassPool (and also to make Javassist work better with JBoss AOP. :p) View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3852236#3852236 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3852236 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business? [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - commons-logging inside JBoss4.0
Hi all, does anybody has an idea how to build a logger that implements org.apache.commons.logging.Log and that works properly inside JBoss4.0? My first guess was to create a DelegatingLogger which gets a reference to an org.jboss.logging.Logger and which delegates all logging requests to this logger. For example: | public class DelegatingLogger implements Log { | | // the JBoss logger this logger should delegate all request to | private Logger _delegate; | | ... | | public void trace(Object msg) { | |if (_delegate.isTraceEnabled() msg != null) |_delegate.trace(msg); | } | | ... | } | First everything seems to work fine. But when I tried to resolve the location where the logging event was triggert, always the DelegatingLogger was detected. Scanning the source code of org.jboss.logging.Logger and org.jboss.logging.Log4jLoggerPlugin I realised that there seems to be no solution for my problem, since the JBoss-logger is hard-coded as triggering logger in the Log4jLoggerPlugin. Am I completly wrong with my approach? Does someone has a better idea how to use commons-logging whithin JBoss. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - HA-JNDI and jndi.properties
I'm unable to start the NamingService when I set the java.naming.provider.url property in jndi.properties to the URL for the HA-JNDI tree. When I set this property to anything other than localhost:1099 (or jnp://localhost:1099, or nothing at all) then JBoss complains when starting up the NamingService: | 13:30:37,596 WARN [NamingService] Context.PROVIDER_URL in server jndi.properties, url=localhost:1100 | 13:30:37,940 WARN [NamingContext] Failed to connect to localhost:1100 | javax.naming.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1100 [Root exception is javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1100 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused]] | at org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContext.getServer(NamingContext.java:213) | at org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContext.checkRef(NamingContext.java:1185) | at org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContext.bind(NamingContext.java:468) | at org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContext.bind(NamingContext.java:461) | at javax.naming.InitialContext.bind(InitialContext.java:355) | | etc... | It seems that the NamingService uses the values in this properties file, and since the HANamingService, which provides the HA-JNDI tree at the port I'm specifying in jndi.properties, hasn't been started yet (it gets started later on when cluster-service.xml is processed) the NamingService fails to connect. I'm working around this by omitting the java.naming.provider.url property in jndi.properties, and in my Java codes specifying the HA-JNDI port in a Hashtable which I pass to the InitialContext constructor. So if I need to change the port number for HA-JNDI I must modify all of my Java source files instead of making the change in jndi.properties. Is there a way around hard-coding these InitialContext properties in my Java sources, and go back to using the jndi.properties file instead ? I'd much rather specify these properties in a single file than in twenty or more Java source files. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. --James View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3852248#3852248 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3852248 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business? [JBoss-user] [JBoss.NET] - Help Please.... No provider type matches QName
Hi All, I tried to tie a web serice to an EJB. I followed the sample given in the Axis disitribution (in samples/ejb). I have a stateless session bean and i was trying to deploy that as webservice...I have copied all the axis WEB-INF stuff into my application war file...and merged the web.xml of axis with my application web.xml...(the one that is given in the webapps directory of the distribution). However, in JBoss 4.0.0, Axis complains like this when I try to reach http://localhost:8080/servlet/AxisServlet (after having deployed the WSDD file of my service, without apparent trouble) : I could see the * AdminService (wsdl) * AdminService * Version (wsdl) * getVersion But when i deploy the service using the below WSDD through command line with AdminClient program ..i am getting the following exception.. Sorry, something seems to have gone wrong... here are the details: Exception - org.apache.axis.ConfigurationException: org.apache.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDException: No provider type matches QName '{http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java}EJB' org.apache.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDException: No provider type matches QName '{http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java}EJB' at org.apache.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDProvider.getInstance(WSDDProvider.java:206) . It looks like Axis can't find the EJB provider, and I have not much clue where to start to look... Another thing to note is that if I /don't/ deploy my WSDD file, then the http://localhost.../AxisServlet page just displays fine... It starts to fail as soon as I deploy the WSDD. My WSDD is like this : ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? deployment xmlns=http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/; xmlns:java=http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java; service name=MLoginService provider=java:EJB parameter name=beanJndiName value=com.airejb.administrator/ parameter name=homeInterfaceName value=com.airejb.AdministratorHome/ parameter name=remoteInterfaceName value=com.airejb.Administrator/ parameter name=className value=AdministratorBean / parameter name=allowedMethods value=getParent/ parameter name=jndiURL value=jnp://localhost:1099/ parameter name=jndiContextClass value=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory/ /service /deployment Sorry i had to remove the in this posting otherwise the full XML is not getting posted.. But my WSDD has the before parameter and service.. [JBoss-user] [Persistence CMP/JBoss] - DeploymentException: Mappings were not provided
I'm running: - JBoss 3.2.3 - Xdoclet 1.2.1 - MySQL 4.0.21 - Linux RedHat 9 I have what seems to be a rather classic data model: Items: - itemId - price - cost - size - productId Products: - productId - name - desc - categoryId Category: - categoryId - name - desc A category consists of a number of products, a product consists of a number of (individual) items. I also need composite keys on the DB tables (to guard against rows containing the same ID value). For 'Item' table, composite key is 'itemId-productId', for 'Products' table, key is 'productId-categoryId'. I have CMP beans for each and I can get the relationship set (and working!) between Items and Products (But products with only 'productId' as PK). It seems that I have to specify a CMP field (in my ItemBean) for the 'productId' in order to get the 'ItemPK' class generated with a composity key. My (abbrieviated) Xdoclet tags for ItemBean look like: /** Class tag * @ejb.bean name=Item type=CMP view-type=local * schema=Item cmp-version=2.x */ public abstract class ItemBean implements EntityBean { /** * @ejb.pk-field * @ejb.persistence column-name=itemId * @ejb.interface-method * @ejb.transaction type=Supports */ public abstract String getItemId( ); public abstract void setItemId( String ItemId ); /** * @ejb.pk-field * @ejb.persistence column-name=productId * @ejb.interface-method * @ejb.transactiontype=Supports */ public abstract String getProductId( ); public abstract void setProductId( String ProductId ); /** * @ejb.interface-method * @ejb.relation name=product-items * role-name=item-belongs_to-product * cascade-delete=yes * * @jboss.relation * fk-column=productId * related-pk-field=productId * fk-contraint=true * */ public abstract ProductLocal getProduct( ); public abstract void setProduct( ProductLocal product ); . } My ProductBean class looks similar (with field names changed, of course). If I just specify a single '@ejb.pk-field' (on productId) in the ProductBean, I can get the Item/Product stuff work just fine. However, when I add the 'categoryId' CMP field (e.g., add another '@ejb.pk-field' for the 'categoryId') the deployment fails. It seems I need to add this 'ejb.pk-field' in the ProductBean to get a composite key generated in the ProductPK class (productId-categoryId composite key). Here's what JBoss says when I try to deploy this set of beans: 2004-10-21 15:06:07,142 INFO [org.jboss.ejb.EjbModule] Deploying Item 2004-10-21 15:06:07,177 INFO [org.jboss.ejb.EjbModule] Deploying Product 2004-10-21 15:06:08,023 ERROR [org.jboss.ejb.EntityContainer] Starting failed org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Mappings were not provided for all fields: unmaped fields=[categoryId] in role=product-has-items Wha? Why would the 'product-has-items' relationship care about the 'categoryId' field? Is there a simple solution? [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: how to use singleton
I'm using version 3.2.5 on Solaris and Linux machines. Once I finally have everything worked out I will post a forum message or Wiki entry outlining all of the steps I needed to take to get this working. Hopefully it will help other developers who want to use Singletons in a clustered JBoss application avoid the headaches I've gone through. My advice: buy a support contract or perhaps a few hours of consulting if like me you go this route and don't know what you're doing. I imagine that it would be well worth the expense in terms of time saved, if it's within your budget. (Of course if we had that kind of cash available we might not be using a free application server in the first place.) --James View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3852267#3852267 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3852267 --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: IT Product Guide on ITManagersJournal Use IT products in your business? [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: zip exception: error in opening zip file
Try opening the ear file with WinZip or similiar program. If winzip complains that the file cannot be opened, then the file is probably corrupted and you should deploy another working copy of that file. If the file is not corrupted, sometimes happened to me that the temp files of previous deployments interfered some way with the new deployment, so another thing you can try is to delete all temp files (with JBoss stopped). Hope this helps, 'cause these are the two cases I've found when using JBoss before... [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: CMP - failed to retrieve data from database - but NO exc
I've seen an error in your code: you try to retrieve a local home interface in the same way you retrieve a remote home interface. Your code is: | context = new InitialContext(); | Object ref = context.lookup(groupJNDI); | home = (GroupLocalHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ref, groupLocalHome.class); | When you use Local Interfaces, you don't need to narrow the references, just cast them directly, like this: | context = new InitialContext(); | GroupLocalHome home = (GroupLocalHome) context.lookup(groupJNDI); | I don't know why aren't you getting any exception about this, but I think that this was the reason your app is not working. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS JBossMQ] - Re: load balancing MDB in 3.2.6
Reread Jason's thread. He is talking about load balancing work across multiple clients (MDBs) where the clients pulls messages from a queue. This has always been supported by JBossMQ. It is called contested queues in the spec. Not load balancing the destinations on the server (which is not support by JBossMQ), i.e. a single client can pull messages from a queue regardless of which server it contacts. The advantage jboss-3.2.4 has (and it is the real point of Jason's thread) is the failover of the JMS server to a different machine in the cluster after the original crashes. Also called HAJMS. Jason's JMSProvider on the WIKI doesn't work correctly. As the WIKI says, use the hajndi version that comes with JBoss in the all configuration. It was enhanced with my suggestions from Jason's thread in 3.2.4. [JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Entity Beans for DatabaseLoginModule
Please excuse me if this has been asked before, but can someone tell me if it is ok to control the Principals and Roles tables (for the DatabaseLoginModule) with entity beans? My current application needs to manually change user roles quite often, so it needs to be done through the web. I did a few quick tests and it looks like I can just create a PrincipalBean and RoleBean and everything will work- even with CMP. This would be nice and easy... Is there any security problem with this approach? I'm a newbie with all of this, so please be gentile. :) I appreciate your help - this forum rocks! Thanks! [JBoss-user] [Installation Configuration] - Re: jboss 4 and PostgreSQL
Hi, the very issue you mention I had the same problem, still un-resolved yet, but here is a work around. The error is telling you that there is no datatype definition for psotgresql in the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml file, which there is not! Every other database but not postgresql. What I did is this: standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml: java:/PostgreSQL datasource-mappingpostgreSQL/datasource-mapping .. type-mappings type-mapping postgreSQL /type-mapping So you are pointing to a postgresql datatype definition, which itself has no definition (until postgresql users are provided with one). Do the same for standardjaws.xml as well. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Getting Started Documentation] - Re: Can not start the Hypersonic Manager Tool
The HSQL database manager is a local swing application, not an applet. If you want to run it remotely, you will have to run it by hand on a remote machine. I'd recommend doing it like that anyways, because when you exit the application, it tries to do a System.exit(). So, I really don't recommend messing with it anymore. This was fixed in 3.2.6 It was a bug in the jboss clustering hasingleton that meant it had to wait for a clustered method invocation to timeout before it detected the original server had failed. The default config supports rmi using either the sun jrmp protocol or our proprietary socket protocol. If you need rmi with the iiop protocol that can easily be added to the default config by moving over the iiop-service.xml, and its jars and config.
