Secure Passwords

2003-03-05 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I am running Jetspeed 1.4-b3 under Tomcat 4, with a MySQL database. I saw in
the JetspeedSecurity.props file that it was possible to secure the
passwords, by activating the option.

When I turn it to True, Jetspeed encrypts the password keyed in by the user
when the one stored in the database has not been transformed, so it is
impossible to log in.

I have tried to delete the passwords in the database (by erasing the data in
the field), but it did not work either...

Does anyone have an idea on how to do that? Has someone succeeded already?

Thanx a lot for your help!

Best Regards,
Ced

Customzing the Anon page

2003-01-29 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I am working with Jetspeed 1.4b3 and a MySQL database. Everything is
configured properly and works fine.
My question is: how can I change the portlets that appear on the anon page
of my portal? Before using a database, I used to change the PSML files. But
now, how does it work?

Thanx a lot in advance.

RE: Problem with PSML Impoter

2003-01-22 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
OK, it works now. I just ran the PSML Importer manually ("build.bat import")
and it populated my database properly.

But I guess this still means that the import function does not seem to work
automatically, even when setup in the props files.

Have a nice day!

Problem with PSML Impoter

2003-01-22 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I am trying to work with a remote database for Jetspeed's PSML. I have
successfully installed Jetspeed 1.4-b3 and the MySQL database. When I try to
hit Jetspeed's homepage, I get all the "public" information but none of the
portlets for the anon user. Instead, I get this error message: "Error
retrieving Potral Page: Profile not found".

In my mind, it is an import issue, but I would like your opinions and,
fortunately, any help... It looks like the database connection is
successful, but the profile tables are empty, so the system cannot retrieve
any information.

I am using Tomcat 4.1.18, Jetspeed 1.4-b3 and MySQL 3.23.54-max-nt.

Thanx a lot in advance.

Hi Raphaël,
Thank you veyr much for your advice. I think the solution you talk about can
meet my needs. We are currently in the very first step of setting up our
portal, so the editorial workflow process is not very complicated. What
content production tool would you advise me to use, in order to be easy to
integrate with Jetspeed?
And I would be very interested in reading your Powerpoint, whenever you get
time to send it to me.
Thanx a lot again

RE: Jetspeed and OpenCms

2003-01-15 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
I have an "Unknown exception java.lang.NullPointerException". I am using a
simple HTML portlet, defined as follows in my XREG file:

OpenCms

org.apache.jetspeed.portal.portlets.FileServerPortlet
http://localhost:8080/opencms/opencms/system/login

Right now, I don't know how I am going to integrate OpenCMS with Jetspeed.
Actually, I don't even know if I am going to integrate them together. I am
just trying to find a tool that would allow me to do what I want.

Our aim here is to create a collaborative Intranet portal, where different
people would give inputs. For instance, they would post articles from a
portlet located on their pages (after logging in), and the articles would be
displayed on the anon page, in a portlet similar to JetspeedContentPortlet.
Plus, I would like all these articles to be stored in a database or fle
system.

I know that this requirement is pretty out of Jetspeed's scope as it deals
with content management, but if someone could provide me with ideas or any
help, I would be very thankful.

Thanx a lot in advance.

I have tried to create a simple HTML portlet that call the login page of

Jetspeed Content Admin

RE: Getting crazy with MySQL... Again!

2002-11-29 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
I am using Jetspeed 1.4b1.
I came back to the standard version of Jetspeed, using PSML files and not
DBPSML. I have created a DatabaseBrowserPortlet that retrieves data from my
MySQL database, and it works perfectly. So I assume Jetspeed can connect to
my database, right ?
I am completely lost! What do I have to do now? Do I have to follow the
instructions given in the PSML DB chapter? I think that it is what I did the
first time...
For me, the next step now is to modify the Torque.props file and the
JetspeedResources.props file. Am I right?

Thanx anyway for your time (and your patience...)

sources) and I have modified TurbineResources.props...

First, I run MySQL Server, then Tomcat and finally, I try to hit

The database has been created and populated with the help of the scripts
given by Jetspeed, the JDBC driver is installed (the JAR file is in the
WEB-INF/lib directory), so I don't understand what the problem could be.

Thanx in advance for your help!

Jetspeed & Database

2002-11-07 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I am probably asking a recurrent question, but is it possible to save all
users and portlets information in a database, like Informix for instance.
Actually, the database is not important. What is important for me is to know
what the steps are to migrate from a file-based system to a database-based
system.

Any direction/help/documentation will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Carlos and Aurélien. I am going to try this right now.
Sorry for the stupid questions, but I am not really used to Jetspeed's

RE: Explorer Portlet

2002-11-06 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
I have followed your advice Carlos but I get a "Horrible Exception" when I
run Jetspeed from IE. Here is the code I use to define the portlet:

File Manager

org.apache.jetspeed.portal.portlets.FileManager

I have checked the path to the class, its name and the case and everything
is correct.

I cannot see what I am doing wrong...

Thanx in advance for your help!

RE: Explorer Portlet

2002-11-04 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Thanx for the tip, but I need a full Java-based portlet, in order to be
coherent with my company's standards. I am still looking for it on the Web,
but I have not been very lucky...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Explorer Portlet

2002-11-04 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
The portlet may be able to browse and display any directory structure. For
instance, I would be able to browse my own hard drive. Just the same job as
Microsoft Windows Explorer.

I have a directory structure containing Word documents and I would like the
users to be able to browse this tree and open the document they need. So the
portlet should enable them to browse the directories.

Thanx

Explorer Portlet

2002-11-04 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I need to have a portlet that works the same way as Windows Explorer on my
portal.
Does one already exist standardly in Jetspeed? Or anyone has already created
one, who could help me?

Thanx a lot in advance

RE: Jetspeed & Macromedia Flash

Copying the swf in the jetspeed root directory works fine, the other
solution throws a message in Tomcat saying that the directory is forbidden.

Thanx for the tip anyway!

Jetspeed & Macromedia Flash

2002-10-21 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I have created a Web page containing a Flash object (apps.swf). When I open
the page alone, it works.
I have then created a HTML portlet instance and called it from my default
page but it does not work. The browser seems to load the page forever. I
took a look at the Tomcat console and it says:

Ctx(/jetspeed) : Statut code:404 request:R(/jetspeed + apps.swf + null)
msg:null

Can Jetspeed work with Flash objects?

Thanx in advance!

LinkPortlet

2002-10-18 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I would like to put a LinkPortlet on my homepage, with a certain list of
links. But I would like a special user to update this list, via the portlet
customize interface, in his environment. To be clearer, Mister X would
update a LinkPortlet that would appear on the portal homepage, i.e for all
users.
Is there a means to do that with a LinkPortlet?

Thanks in advance

New Jetspeed User

2002-10-18 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC
Hi all,

I am a brand new Jetspeed user and I have a couple of questions about it. My
company wants to set it up as an Intranet portal and I have to see if it is
possible...
So here are my questions...

1) The default database seems to contain only user information. Is it
possible to use a larger database (Informix for instance), in order to save
all portal information?

2) Can we use Jetspeed as a content management tool? If not, is there, in
Jakarta, a project that does this?

3) What are the "groups" used for in the basic version of Jetspeed? Is it
possible to modify it in order to manage users by group profiles?

4) I know there is a search engine included with Jetspeed but I do not know
which one... And how to use it?

5) How about multi-language portal?

6) Is there an administration console for Jetspeed?

7) For the people who use Jetspeed in their companies, are you satisfied
with it? What are the competences need to set it up? And, finally, is it
resource consuming?

I am aware my questions are not very technical, but as I said before, I am a
beginner with Jetspeed...

Thanx a lot in advance for your answers.

RE: Portlet Configuration in jetspeed1.4b--Configuration file not found

2002-10-16 Thread BARDE, CEDRIC

Hi Elena,
In order to configure the portlets seen when you hit Jetspeed's homepage,
you have to modify the default.psml file in the "...WEB-INF/psml/user/anon"
directory.
It means that the default profile is anonymous.
Hope I have answered your question.
Regards
