A little while ago I had started to go out with another woman. It was really my wife's idea. "I know that you love her," she said one day, taking me by surprise. "But I love YOU," I protested. "I know, but you also love her." The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie. "What's wrong, are you well," she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news. "I thought that it would be pleasant to pass some time with you, "I responded. "Just the two of us." She thought about it for a moment then said "I would like that very much." That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary. She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's. "I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed," she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting". We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entree, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. "It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small!", she said. "Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded. During the dinner we had an agreeable conversation - nothing extraordinary - but catching up on recent events of each others life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you". I agreed. "How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered. A few days later my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I was almost sure that I couldn't be there but, never-the-less, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for you wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you." At that moment I understood the importance of saying, in time: "I LOVE YOU" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is m

[JOYnet] more on tithe..what WOG says
Dear friends, I think the following WOG, will give more light into Berly's and Pradeep's mails. As Pradeep has written, I think the tithe should go to the disadvantaged people also. Leviticus 27: 30 - 32 states that "'A tithe of everything from the land, whether of the seed of the land or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the LOrd. If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it. The entire tithe of the herd and flock--every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's staff--will be holy to the Lord. He must not pick out the good from the bad or make any substitution. If he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed.'" The law of Moses also mentions tithes in Numbers 18: 21 - 29 in relation to it supporting the Levites, the tribe dedicated as priests of God The purpose for which the tithes were given is mentioned in those wordshere tithes goes towards supporting the Levites who in turn give part of it as an offering to the Lord Tithing fulfills three needs in the Kingdom of God 1. Supporting the work of God - Acts 4:32 - 35 2. Providing for the laborers and the work of the kingdom - 1 Corinthians 9:14, Galatians 6:6 3. To support the disadvantaged (strangers, homeless, fatherless e.t.c) - Romans 15:26, 1 Corinthians16: 1-2, Acts 11: 27 - 30 The third point is explained in Deuteronomy 26 also Deut 26:9-12 " He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, O Lord, have given me." Place the basket before the Lord your God and bow down before him. And you and the Levites and the aliens among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household. When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied. " Read these words also on tithing 2 Corinthians 9: 6 - 8 " Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. " 2 Corinthians 8:12 For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have. love and prayers, Antony/Delhi * This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of NDTV unless specifically stated. [JOYnet] Tithe - Giving beyond giving.
Dear JY Friends, Thanks Joseph...Adding more to what Joseph Ionth has shared.. There is only ONE PLACE in the whole Bible we can find God asking us to test Him: that is in Tithes . Holy Bible says, " Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME IN THIS, " says the Lord Almighty. " and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not room enough for it." This assurance from the Bible is powerful and will be enough for us to seek blessings from our God. As Joseph Ionth mentions, our commitment to God does not end with 10% cheques. Infact, it starts with it ! I came to know of it only recently. I wished I knew it before, knew it better. " God, grand me the grace to give the best of me, most of me and everything of me for Your Love and for Your Glory. As I look into Your eyes in the world all around, make me generous to you. Lord, let me give, give more and give most. With Your beloved son Francis of Assisi, let me ask you the grace to understand that it is in giving that we receive and finally give me the strength for loving You the way You loved me. Be my life partner Lord in my giving and in my getting -- Amen and Amen ." [JOYnet] Fwd: Greatest Miracle/Son of Man/ Abortion..
Dear friends, Please see the attachment. Fwd. message which might be useful for some of you. JAMES SIMON <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: *** WE ARE THE TEMPLE OF LIVING GOD. 2Cor. 6:16. DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE GODS TEMPLE, AND THAT GODS SPIRIT ABIDES WITH IN YOU? .. GODS TEMPLE IS HOLY, AND YOU ARE THIS TEMPLE. 1Cor. 3:16, 17. JESUS SAID, I WILL BE WITH YOU ALWAYS, EVEN TO THE CONSUMMATION OF THE WORLD. Mt.28:20. Greatest Miracle the Good Lord has performed is the residing of, living of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit HIMSELF in each of us Humans from the outset of creation By committing Sin (through acts/thoughts/words against the wish of GOD) Human started Killing themselves. Wages of Sin is Death. By committing sin, remaining in sin, running away from God (Gen.3: 8) towards Devil, human gradually Starts dying off, Physical, Mental and Spiritual Death, eventually leading to eternal death if they remain in their Sin. INDEED GOD CREATED MAN TO BE IMMORTAL IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS OWN NATURE, BUT THE ENVY OF DEVILBROUGHT DEATH TO THE WORLD, AND THOSE WHO TAKE HIS SIDE SHALL EXPERIENCE DEATH. Wis. 2: 23, 24. Baptism, the sacrament, through which even the original sin is taken away purifying the new born baby, making the baby the true child of GOD through GODs grace. (Cf. Lev. 12:6-8.) As the child grows, if he/she is not enriched with Gods grace (which is a free gift) word of GOD, Sacraments, Prayers etc he/she cant please God and the Power of Holy Spirit, Jesus in him/her fades due to their own carelessness and the evil spirit gradually starts taking control of them. Jesus our Good Lord remains in us, silently, with eternal LOVE, respecting our freedom which is given by Jesus HIMSELF, exhorting us to do good, giving us chance to repent and convert until the last moment of our life. When a human is doing a Good thing, it is actually the Jesus, Holy Spirit in him/her is doing it. WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING. Jn. 15:5. And when a human is doing an evil, it is actually the evil in him/her is doing it through him/her. I AM NOT REALLY THE ONE WHO DOES THIS THING: RATHER IT IS THE SIN THAT LIVES IN ME. Rom. 7:17. Certainly, the humans have the right to, chance to choose between Good and Evil. Sira. 15: 13 17 ; Deut. 30: 15 20. If one chose Jesus, Goodness, then he/she will be able to do good things through the power of Holy Spirit in Him/Her. I CAN DO ALL THINGS IN HIM WHO STRENGTHENETH ME. Phil. 4: 13. If one chose evil/did not chose Jesus, then evil spirit starts using him/her. From the very beginning he (devil) was a murderer and has never been on the side of truth, because there is no truth in him. When he (devil) tells a lie, he is only doing what is natural to him, because he is a liar and father of all lies. Jn. 8:44. What is the result of, consequence of renouncing Jesus completely and choosing evil, rejecting knowingly and purposefully the admonishing, warning of the Good Lord? (Cf. Satan worship) Eternal Death. The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy. Jn. 10:10. Judas (the traitor) went off and hanged himself. Mt. 27:5. Of course, it is a miracle, the residing of the GOD(in its fullness), the Creator in a piece of Bread Eucharist. But we know, the bread didnt ask the God to go out of it or renounce God. On the other hand, Humans repeatedly knowingly/unknowingly through their acts, thoughts and words are asking the Good God to go out of them, renouncing Jesus sometimes for material benefit or momentary pleasure which itself gradually leads them to eternal death. Jesus our Good Lord remains in us, silently, with eternal LOVE, respecting our freedom which is given by Jesus HIMSELF, exhorting us to do good, giving us chance to repent and convert until the last moment of our life. ISNT THIS THE GREATEST MIRACLE THE MANKIND EVER SEEN AND EXPERIENCED. JESUS CHRIST REVEALED THIS GREAT MYSTERY, SECRET AND HE CONSOLIDATED IT THROUGH EUCHARIST. Ofcourse, Jesus lives in, resides in every Human - Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists. Even in Gentiles Jesus speaks to them about the good and evil and they consider it as their CONSCIENCE. The gentiles do not have the law; but whenever they do by instinct what the law commands, they are their own law, even though they do not have the law. Their conduct shows that what the law commands is written in their HEARTS. Their conscience also shows that this is true, since their thoughts sometimes accuse them and sometimes defend them.Rom. 2:14, 15. The pagans who seek GOD sincerely and full heartily will surely find HIM. And the Christians are blessed with GODS knowledge, Love and Grace. The PRIME duty of each Christian is to spread Gods Love and Grace to his/her fellow beings and spread Kn

[JOYnet] Re: ATHEISM
dear dolly, well i'm Michelle from chennai and i respect your opinions as stated in your mail. i'd like to put forth my opinions...to challenge/ to find enough proof for who we call "God" is something totally different from seeking to find if this "God" really exists? FAITH IS TO BELIEVE WITHOUT PROOF, BUT NOT WITHOUT REASON! miracles happen not as an evidence or proof of HIS existence but happen only to increase the faith of those who already believe. once read a quote in a book which said "THE LONGEST JOURNEY IN THE WORLD IS FROM THE HEAD TO THE HEART"if u are an atheist who is really "seeking" to find without all your heart if there is a God, believe me, u will find the truth.but if u are "searching" to find with all your intellect if there is a God, believe this too..all ur searching will be in vain. just a few days ago i went through a very nice site, meant especially for rationalists, and i know it'll be helpful for u, pls visit the site, and it defintely gives reason for belief but if u still wish to profess what u believe, u may carry on, but pls do tell ur friends about the site cos who knows someone may benefit from it. www.is-there-a-god.com give it some thoughtGod bless. love and prayers, michelle dolly <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Dear All, Before i go on to the topic, let me introduce myself. I have been a member of this group since a friend of mine subscribed me around 4 months back . Thank you Meena for it, otherwise i wouldn't have had the oppertunity to meet all these wonderful people. I'm also a member of Atheists group which is this groups opposite. Although i don't feel at home with both the groups, since i'm a Rationalist ( Who unlike the atheist doesn't say "there is no god." but says "give me enough proof there is a god, then i'm ready to believe." ) i've participated a lot in the atheist group discussions b'cos there you have freedom of expression ( a fundamental right of an Indian citizen or for all democracies). There no one tells you " say only those things which will promote the belief that there is no god ." The point is what good is your faith if it can be wavered by what some one else says and you have to give up your fundamental rights to uphold it ! Now coming to the topic, Before i start let me tell you this is not written with any intention of hurting anyone's religious sentiments, if i do it without knowing , i'm sorry. I have heard many of you say, you have to try to understand the verses in the context of the age and purpose it was written. According to the bible even god want you to do it read Isaiah 43:16,18,19 Sex is the name you give to the act whose only purpose is procreation. It is a bodily need but unlike the other basic needs you can survive without it. You can survive without a car , You can survive without the internet ... etc But man with his desires for more gets addicted to everything and he finds it difficult to survive without these things. In the same way an act which was designed for procreation was taken to give pleasure . According to the design a women feels the urge only for a few days a month when her uterus is ready to receive the sperm. When man didn't stick to the design the ancient people had to make laws so that fightings and killings wouldn't take place in the name of sex. People then wasn't as sophisticated as us and women were more or less instruments in the hands of men .( Even today much hasn't changed) As a result all these laws and sins were created if you tell a person "this is a sin, you will go to hell if you do it." Most people will think twice before doing it . Sex between 2 consenting adults before or after marriage is a personal matter up to them to decide the outcome after taking the pro's and con's into consideration ( b'cos life is very complicated now , the fling you take can affect many people and you. Usually the few moments of pleasure won't be worth the outcome ) There is no sin connected. But it would be very unwise to try unsafe sex. Re: [JOYnet] Re:Sex Before Marriage
Dear Dolly in Jesus, Before I start, let me say, I have no intention of arguing with you or hurt you in any way. Though I can never agree with your opinions, I respect your view points and I respect and Love you as a child of God. Having said that, let me state some facts. First of all, JoyNet is not just a discussion group, it is a family of Jesus' disciples and of those who are driven by the curiosity to find out what it is all about to be a follower of Jesus and those who would like to explore the possibility of becoming one. The discussions are conducted at the level of a Jesus follower and nothing less. Discussions are done in this family atmosphere to clarify and educate each other in the matters of faith and God in the today's context within the framework of the Catholic Church's teachings. There are many non Catholics and non Christians in this group, but they respect the fact that this is a Catholic forum and do not try to raise an argument against the Church's teachings. It is impossible to defeat or convince you by arguments that God exists and all His laws are good. All the commandments in the Bible and the Church and nature can be summed up in two. Love God above all and love our neighbor as ourselves. Christian marriage is a contact and more than that a COVENANT. The love prescribed is unconditional sacrificial love. In that context sex is an unconditional sacrificial self giving of one person to the other. The joy that is evolved from it is the joy of giving and being one with God who is the third party in a Christian marriage. Any union without God in it, is sinful because the basic definition of sin is separation from God. The above things cannot be talked about when you are standing on the realm of reason only. It needs faith as well to comprehend the deep mysteries involved. Hence I will not be able to engage you in a debate or convince you of anything about faith by argument. So let us conclude this topic of discussion as the net co-ordinator had already officially closed this subject. I am quoting Isaiah $#:1-22 below. Isaiah Chapter 43 1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine. 2 When you pass through the water, I will be with you; in the rivers you shall not drown. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned; the flames shall not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in return for you. 4 Because you are precious in my eyes and glorious, and because I love you, I give men in return for you and peoples in exchange for your life. 5 Fear not, for I am with you; from the east I will bring back your descendants, from the west I will gather you. 6 I will say to the north: Give them up! and to the south: Hold not back! Bring back my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth: 7 Everyone who is named as mine, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. 8 Lead out the people who are blind though they have eyes, who are deaf though they have ears. 9 2 Let all the nations gather together, let the peoples assemble! Who among them could have revealed this, or foretold to us the earlier things? Let them produce witnesses to prove themselves right, that one may hear and say, "It is true!" 10 You are my witnesses, says the LORD, my servants whom I have chosen To know and believe in me and understand that it is I. Before me no god was formed, and after me there shall be none. 11 It is I, I the LORD; there is no savior but me. 12 It is I who foretold, I who saved; I made it known, not any strange god among you; You are my witnesses, says the LORD. I am God, 13 yes, from eternity I am He; There is none who can deliver from my hand: who can countermand what I do? 14 3 Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sakes I send to Babylon; I will lower all the bars, and the Chaldeans shall cry out in lamentation. 15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King. 16 Thus says the LORD, who opens a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters, 17 Who leads out chariots and horsemen, a powerful army, Till they lie prostrate together, never to rise, snuffed out and quenched like a wick. 18 Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not; 19 See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the desert I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers. 20 Wild beasts honor me, jackals and ostriches, For I put water in the desert and rivers in the wasteland for my chosen people to drink, 21 The people whom I formed for myself, that they might announce my praise. 22 Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob, f
[JOYnet] Suggestion for Feb Prayer day and intention.
Hi All, I suggest the next prayer Day be the Friday, the 7th of Feb. (this is assuming that there is a preference for the first Friday of the month as the prayer day). My suggestion for the intention: pray for the world peace, especially peace in the Middle East, very specially in the Iraq issue. Another suggestion is that we should make the whole day the day of prayer. It is very much desirable that those who can pray for 15 minutes together at the same time around the World, do so every month. But there may be people who forget or who cannot make it at that time. Because of this, some who would otherwise like to pray for the intention get annoyed and/or discouraged about the whole thing and just ignore the request altogether. If we restrict the prayer to only those 15 minutes, many may not participate. So let us put the policy that we will make the whole day as our monthly prayer day and the special 15 minutes is encouraged to be taken part in by all to the best of each person's ability as a 'family together' prayer time. Those who can keep praying for the intention the whole week are also encouraged to do so on their own initiative. [JOYnet] Tithing-whom Should I Give? a few humble words...
DEAR ALL, I think it is very difficult to define to whom should we give our 10 % income. But one will mostly be true..We should give it those about whom we feel that they need our help. Some times we may feel this about a poor fellow we meet across the road side,In some other times it may be evnageliser who need our money to carry on his work. In some other cases it may be a priest who want money to help some other persons(Please remember that many of our parish priests are helping poor people a lot .) In some othertimes it may be a poor student who need money to buy a book.. I think if we are ready to give with a happy mind then it would reach only really deserving hands.BECAUSE IT IS GODS MONEY..and he would not let it to go in any other way.He will tell us where to/whom to give it.We need to have only a mind to listen to his words.Let pray for Holyspirit to guide us in this matter too. pradeep george thrissur - Sify Mail - now with Anti-virus protection powered by Trend Micro, USA. My comments on [JOYnet] Is this true???
Hi Joynetters, The article forwarded by Rosemary was published last month in the "CharisIndia",a monthly magazine published by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of India. It was written by Mr. Errol fernandes from Mumbai who is part of the Mumbai catholic charismatic renewal and is a minister of the word . Sadly what he says is true.. Most TV preachers today preach the " prosperity gospel" , and would rather say what the audience likes to hear, and try to attract more of them with flashy arguments and logical thinking.. Let us therefore learn to take what these preachers say with a pinch of salt. Love and Prayers Ravi. Rosemary Thomas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:Dear everyone, This is a mail I got... Many viewers find it difficult to believe that these anointed men of God could teach anything other than pure Biblical Christianity. All we ask of readers is, rather than assess the truth of the faith by what is said by a so called man of God, you assess the man of God and his teaching by the truth of Holy Scripture. Even without reference to Catholic Tradition, but only Scripture, their errors are obvious. One by-product of the communications revolution is the increased use of television for evangelisation. Most people do not know it, but the Catholic Church pioneered the use of the electronic media in those days, mainly radio and to a lesser extent television to reach millions with the Good News of Gods love and salvation shown in His Son Jesus. Bishop Fulton Sheen was the first and most popular radio and TV evangelist, and arguably the best in terms of sound content and an ability to lift the faith of his audience. His loyal audience and viewers included not only Catholics, but even other Christians and Jews! Its a different story today. Television evangelism seems to be dominated by neo-Pentecostal fundamentalists who, because of their emphasis on faith, healing and praying in tongues, are mistaken for charismatic. They are not. Many of these preachers have deliberately disguised themselves as charismatics, to gain some legitimacy, and have tarnished the reputation of the Charismatic Renewal. Where does the problem lie? The basic problem is in the beliefs of this school of preachers/teachers/healers. Conservative Christians would have no hesitation in saying that they have departed from Christianity, and some have imported elements from non-Christian belief systems that are incompatible with Christianity. In the process, some of the very basic articles of the Christian Faith have been deserted and substituted. These include the Trinity, the nature of God, the Creator-creature relationship, Jesus, salvation, and the covenant. I shall quote some of the teachings of these so-called evangelists and teachers, to show how unsafe it is for any sincere Christian Catholic or not to listen to them. The source of every quotation will be given. Most of the references date back to a decade ago. But none of the so called evangelists have ever retracted and corrected their false teaching. On the contrary, they maintain that they have always been teaching Gods Word. The Trinity: Although the network has been named after the Trinity, the Trinity is one of the first faith casualties in the strange theology of Paul Crouch, founder of TBN. He has supported the United Pentecostal Church, a cult which calls the Trinity a pagan doctrine. He agreed one million billion per cent that to break unity with those who deny the Trinity is a work of the devil. (Praise the Lord, TBN 5.9.91 ). Of those who object to such heresy, Crouch has said, I think theyre damned and on their way to hell; and I dont think theres any redemption for them. [JOYnet] So many around us...Zeal
Dear Enthusiastic Netters, I have been thinking of introducing him since quite some time ,now I feel it is the apt time..Since we are concluding with the christian value 'Enthusiasm' today and beginning with the new one 'Thankfulness' - from tomorrow Feb 1st. (Many must be wondering - what is this ? Concluding Enthusiasm and beginning Thankfulness, well it's the theme from the JY Bible calendar - it's put up in our website too,if you have not yet got a copy of the pocket bible calendar.) He is a college lecturer by profession , was the co-ordinator of the Mission team here in kerala and is presently the Elder of the KYCT(Kerala Youth central Team). To reach his work place he has to travel about 20 kms from his house - His wife is also a lecturer in the same college. He has 2 sons both are JY,One in 12th and the other 10th ,I think :) Most of the evenings he'll be here in Kalamasery/Emamaus/cochin for a team meeting or gathering..He is 45+ (I'm sure), Most evenings he goes back home by around 11 pm from here - has to ride 20 kms. He is always on the run for the lord ,Involved in various ministries/ a very gifted person yet very humble.. His name is George..(all of us call him George sir). [JOYnet] Tithing - whom should I give ?
Dear Enthusiastic Netters, I too would like to add few more things on tithing. In our prayer group - there is one chettan who has been supporting us with his tithing since past few months(more than a year). What I learnt from him was that over the past so many years..he was giving his tithe.. Most of the time he used to put it in the box placed outside the church,Rest he used to wait for people to come and ask him(very rarely). Once when there was money short for one of our programs ,I happenend to ask him for some support and he gave cheerfully. Now he does give regularly a part of his tithing to our JY activities here. I am sure there are many around us ,who knows and does give tithe. But where exactly money has to be given ?? It'll be nice if many more can comment on this. Can we arrive at a norm (ofcourse finally ,its upto each individual to do what one feels right) or few guidelines/hints which will be helpful for us to decide where to give the tithing. regards and prayers Berly Earnest/cochin/India Yahoo!
