Yuppp!! this is what I beleive in too!

Around two years back...when I had newly joined the prayer grp...I had
similar experiences..."Clash of views and opinions". At that time I was
so tempted to leave the prayer grp...but my brother left me thinking with
this simple reflection..."what is your motive behind going for prayer
meeting"... are you going to experience the love of God and build a
relationship with Himor are you going so that your opinions and views
may be accepted"!

This kind of changed my whole outlook! And this has always acted as a
check for mewhenever I'm not too pleased with with wots happening...I
kinda ask myself "Whom am I focusing on"? on JESUS or on the material
things! And then I ask the Spirit of The Living God to fall afresh on me
and on the people around meso that I may understand the will of God!

have our own beautiful way of thinking and reasoning. However when we
concentrate on ourselves and our thoughts, when pride takes over, or when
we become so narrow minded that we think only we are right, our original
focus shifts to a new one. the new focus could be anything related to the

glorification, anything, but that is immaterial. what is important is
that we realise what the point of our group meeting was in the first
place and readjust our vision and our energies to our original focus

[JOYnet] Spider-man

2002-07-01 Thread Jennifer D'souza

Dear Joynetters,

Hope you all are doing great...in the love of God!

I want to share with you something that I shared with one of my Joynet
friends...and she thought it would be great if I could share it with all the
Joynetters...so here I go...it's quite big...so you will have to bear with
me!

I went for the movie spider man with some of my friendsn there was one
particular line in that movie that struck me n that was "With Great Power
comes Greater responsibility"

At first I wondered...wot is in this line that's making me repeat it over n
over...n as I was thinking about it...this is the inspiration that I
received

To have "The Great Power" is to know the truth...i.e to believe in our Lord
Jesus Christ...which is a power that only our Father in heaven can give us
(John 6:44 - No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him)
This truth that is revealed to us is that, JESUS alone is the way the truth
and the life (John 14:6 - "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father, but by me).

And that's when I felt that how blessed and privledged are we that God chose
us to reveal this truth...By knowing the truth we are set free (John 8:32 -
and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.") and so we
know longer remain slaves of sin but become co-heirs with Christ (Galatians
4:7 - So through God you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son then
an heir)

And when we are given so much...much more will we be demanded from us...Luke
12:48 -...Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and
of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.

And hence our responsibility increases manifold! We become responsible to
reach out to the ones who do not know The Truth, to the ones who are
lost...to lead them to the right path...and this was the mission that Jesus
entrusted to us...which is explicitly stated in Mark 16:15 - And he said to
them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

First we were ignorant but now we have become wise and responsible through
the knowledge that Christ reveals to us...

Then I came to the realization...that how much more responsible have we to
be for our actions then...as there are some who are looking upto us as an
example...it could be that we may proclaim Christ through our
lips...accepting HIM as our Lord and saviour, but our actions may tell a
different story altogether...Romans 2:21 - says...you then who teach others,
will you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you
steal?

And that's when Jesus rightly says in Matthew 7:16 - You will know them by
their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Matthew 7:19 - Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and
thrown into the fire.

How much more are we responsible for the fruits that we bear!

That's all for now...

Take care,

GOD BLESS YOU!

Luv n prayers,
Jennifer D'souza,
Mumbai

[JOYnet] A simple story.

2002-06-21 Thread Jennifer D'souza

Dear Joynetters,

Praise God!

One of my friends sent me this story..thought I should share it with u
guys.please do read it! It's beautiful!

AFTER THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS, THE CHURCH'S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD
UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON, BRIEFLY
INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING.

THE PASTOR TOLD THE CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS ONE OF HIS
DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS
TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE
SERVICE.

WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK.

"A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE SAILING OFF THE
PACIFIC COAST," HE BEGAN, "WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY ATTEMPT
TO GET BACK TO THE SHORE. THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE
FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR, HE COULD NOT KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE
THREE WERE SWEPT INTO THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED."

THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO
TEENAGERS WHO WERE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN, LOOKING
SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY. THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED, "GRABBING A
RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING DECISION OF HIS
LIFE:

TO WHICH BOY HE WOULD THROW THE OTHER END OF THE LIFE LINE. HE ONLY HAD
SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION. THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A
CHRISTIAN AND HE ALSO KNEW THAT HIS SON'S FRIEND WAS NOT. THE AGONY OF HIS
DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE TORRENT OF WAVES.

"AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, 'I LOVE YOU, SON!' HE THREW OUT THE LIFE LINE
TO HIS SON'S FRIEND. BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO
THE CAPSIZED BOAT, HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING SWELLS INTO
THE BLACK OF NIGHT. HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED."

BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP STRAIGHT IN THE PEW,
ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER'S
MOUTH. "THE FATHER," HE CONTINUED, "KNEW HIS SON WOULD STEP INTO
ETERNITY WITH JESUS AND HE COULD NOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON'S FRIEND
STEPPING INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT JESUS. THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON
TO SAVE THE SON'S FRIEND.

HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US! OUR
HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE SAVED.
"I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A
HOLD OF THE LIFE LINE HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE."

WITH THAT, THE OLD MAN TURNED AND SAT BACK DOWN IN HIS CHAIR AS SILENCE
FILLED THE ROOM. THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND
DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE
RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL.

WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE AT THE
OLD MAN'S SIDE. "THAT WAS A NICE STORY," POLITELY STATED ONE OF THE BOYS,
"BUT I DON'T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HISONLY
SON'S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN."

"WELL, YOU'VE GOT A POINT THERE," THE OLD MAN REPLIED, GLANCING DOWN AT
HIS WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE, HE ONCE AGAIN
LOOKED UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, "IT SURE ISN'T VERY REALISTIC, IS IT? BUT
I'M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY GIVES ME A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT
MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR ME. YOU SEE-I WAS THAT
FATHER AND YOUR PASTOR IS MY SON'S FRIEND."

Romans 5: 6 "You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a
righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us"

I am one such person saved by this life line from God. Today I am one
such a preacher too. When God saved me I didn't get a longer life in the
normalpattern of life. It was a totally transformed life.(John 10:10b ; "I
have come that they may have life, and have it to the full").

Now I no more can drown in the sea of sinful life. I WALK ABOVE THEM,
JUST LIKE PETER WALKED TOWARDS JESUS. I strongly counsel to you to take now,
right now the life line that God is throwing to you to save you too and give
you a life of liberty and joy and
hope and peace and and and

After reading this story...only one verse comes to my mind.Jn 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that
whosoever would beleives in Him will not perish but have eternal life!

Intense and so real is His love!

[JOYnet] The Youth rally ...in Mumbai...a wonderful experience!!

2002-06-10 Thread Jennifer D'souza

Dear Joynetters,

Praise God!!

I am bubling with excitement even as I write this mail...We had gone for a
youth rally yesterday, conducted by the Torch Bearers For Christ (TBC) the
youth wing of the Bombay service team (Charismatic renewal in Mumbai).

We were around a thousand youth from all over Mumbai...gathered to give
praise to our Awesome God. And you can well...imagine a thousand youth
dancing to the Gospel music...and it worked wonders with all the youth who
were timid and shy...as they too couldn't resist dancing and singing to the
Lord.

There is this song that we learnt there...it goes like this...Some words are
in the Mumbasa language (South Africa) and I have forgotten some...

JAMBO, Jesus Loves You,
Are You Happy,(...I forgot...)
CARIBU, Into His Presence
Why do you worry, HAKUNAMATTATA.

Jambo - means Hello, Caribu - means Into His presence, Hakunamattata - means
Why do you worry...(hope I got them all correct)

Now to tell u guys...my personal experience...The theme of this rally was to
Enthrone Jesus as the Lord over our lives (career, studies and
relationships).

Even after going for a retreat (a month ago) and surrendering my life to
God...I somehow did not put Jesus on the throne of my life...and this rally
came at the right time to remind me of the same.

The speaker (Br. Victor) at the rally spoke about the 3 Ms in life...in view
of enthroning Jesus in your relationships. He said the first M is
Master...making Jesus the master of your life. The second M is Mission,
Praying about the mission that God has called us for...coz..each one of us
has come into this world for a purpose and plan. And after knowing our
mission the last M...i.e the Mate...will fall in place. That is the life
partner the Lord has in mind for us. But he said you have to soak every
decision and every step that you take in prayersas this is the time of
temptation...

During the infilling of the Holy Spirit...as Br Derek spoke...I was
touched...I was shown all the areas in my life...where I was not enthroning
Jesus...especially in my relationships. It was difficult to believe that the
Lord was calling me to give up certain friendships...but He said..."Put ME
first...and everything else will follow".

It is a hard decision to give up these friendships...but just as another
speaker, put it so well...by quoting the scripture from Jermiah 29:11 For I
know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for
evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The Lord knows what He is asking of me and He will give me the grace and
strength too! But I need ur prayers tooo...

Thanks!

God Bless You!

Yours in Christ Jesus,
Jennifer D'souza
