Hello," said the little boy.

"Hi," replied the little girl.

"I've been to church this morning and I'm on my way home," answered the

"Me too," replied the little boy. "I'm on my way home from church, too."

"Which church do you go to?" asked the little boy.

"I go to the Baptist church back down the road," replied the little girl.
"What about you?"

"I go to the Catholic church at the top of the hill," replied the little boy.

[lace-chat] :) Fwd: A blonde is a blonde, is a...

2005-08-23 Thread Tamara P Duvall
*Two* "blonde" jokes, both of them a novelty (to me, at any rate) -
jokes which were devised with male dimwits in mind, not just what I
think of as "transvestite jokes" (written about females, but changed to
having males as focus for PC reasons).

Warning: both are only "marginally acceptable" for chat; one's somewhat
smutty, and the other's definitely (and gruesomely) un-PC *as well* as
being smutty. Needless to say, I *love* the second one...

From: J.F.

The sheriff in a small Texas town walks out in the street and sees a
blonde cowboy coming down the walk with nothing on but his cowboy hat,
gun and his boots, so he arrests him for indecent exposure. As he is
locking him up, he asks "Why in the world are you dressed like this ?"

The cowboy says "Well it's like this, Sheriff. I was in the bar down
the road and this pretty little red head asks me to go out to her motor
home with her so I did. We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks
me to pull off my shirt so I did. Then she pulls off her skirt and asks
me to pull off my pants so I did. Then she pulls off her panties and
asks me to pull off my shorts so I did. Then she gets on the bed, and
looks at me kind of sexy, and says, 'Now go to town, cowboy...'

And here I am. "

===

A white guy is walking along a beach when he comes across a lamp
partially

buried in the sand. He picks up the lamp and gives it a rub. Two blonde
genies appear, and they tell him he has been granted three wishes. The
guy makes his three wishes and the blonde genies disappear.

The next thing the guy knows, he's in a bedroom, in a mansion,
surrounded
by 50 beautiful women. He makes love to all of them and begins to
explore
the house. Suddenly he feels something soft under his feet; he looks
down

and the floor is covered in $100 bills.

Then, there's a knock at the door. He answers it and standing there
are two

persons dressed in Ku Klux Klan outfits. They drag him outside to the
nearest tree, throw a rope over a limb and hang him by the neck until
he's dead.

As the Klansmen are walking away, they remove their hoods; it's the two
blonde genies. One blonde genie says to the other one, "I can understand
the first wish of having all these beautiful women in a big mansion to
make

love to. I can also understand him wanting to be a millionaire. But why
he wanted to be hung like a black man is beyond me."

Thanks, Janice!

I must say, I have been watching quite a few forensic case files on Court TV
of an evening, while working on my handsewing projects, and learned just last
night that approximately 95% of murders are committed by menAnd, although
they didn't give the statistics on the victims, a vast majority of the cases I
have seen have been committed against women...In any case, it's horrific to
see the violence and brutality that does exist in the world, and it is
certainly good advice to remember to keep your guard up, use common sense and
not take
any chances with your safety!

A whole blade of mace is big enough to go around a nutmeg, so about an
inch long. Crumbled up it's probably only about 1/4 teaspoonful.

I looked up this question in my "Mrs. Beeton's All About Cookery" book, but
she only says that it is sold in either blade or ground form. So. I
called my sister-in-law who does a lot of cooking.

She asked what was being made - usually blade of mace is used in soups where
you cook with it in the soup, but don't serve it (like bouquet garni or bay
leaves). She suggested if you only have ground that you use a pinch (or two
at the most).

Hope this helps.

Hello Nicky

What a horrible thing to happen! However the damage is done now so
you've got to work at minimising it.

Obviously you send out messages like this to anyone who you think may
have the site bookmarked, but also contact the various search engines
to get your new URL (or the underlying real one) recognised and the old
one deleted. With Google, from the home page click on About Google,
then on Submitting your Site and follow instructions. It's free unless
you want paid adverts.

I did that when I changed ISP and it took a couple of weeks to get
recognised, even the various directories that say I share the site with
my "sister" Terry (must be the photo of him on the home page with long
hair and dainty shoes; I'm the one with short hair and bovver boots!)
now have the URL updated without any further input from me.

Some other search engines have a similar process, others just rely on
their web-crawlers, so make sure you've got your meta-tags sorted out,
use the words in the title at the beginning of the body text etc etc.

Dear Secret Pal

Many thanks for your lovely parcel of wonderful gifts.

I will be totally honest and let you know that it arrived last Friday. I have
however been busy entertaining my nephew visiting from Canada. My children
were so excited to see him so I am sure you can imagine it has been a very
hectic time. Now he is visiting other relatives and I have time to catch up!
I am so sorry for the delay in acknowledging your parcel.

I could smell the gorgeous aroma from the soap before I opened the parcel -
that one will be kept for special soaks in the bath when I need to relax!!
The beads are very special and will definitely come in useful. The sewing
machine badge is fun and will go on my pin cushion.

The quilting patten looks great. I have never attempted this sort of quilting
before - but my mum has! Maybe she will do it for me

We had a lovely holiday - thank you for asking. It was very relaxing and nice
and hot too. Don't worry about getting my son's name wrong (it was very close
anyway) - he definitely enjoyed the lollipop!! It lasted for ages!!

Once again, thank you for everything.

Best wishes

[lace-chat] Family History

2005-08-23 Thread David Collyer

"The Story TellersWe are the chosen ones."

(or why I am obsessed/fascinated with Genealogy.
My feelings are that in each family there is one who seems called to find
the ancestors: to put flesh on their bones and make them live again..to
tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.

To me, doing Genealogy, is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead,
breathing life into all who have gone before us. We are the story tellers
of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our
genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us - "tell our story" - and so
we do.
In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood
before now and cried.? I have lost count. How many times have I told the
ancestors "you have a wonderful family. You would be proud of us all". How
many times have I walked up to a grave and somehow felt there was love for
me? I cannot say.

It goes beyond documenting facts. It goes to who I am and why I do the
things I do. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to
accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to
respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up,
their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to
deep pride that they fought to make and keep us as a nation. It goes to a
deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us that we might
be born who we are: that we might remember them. And so we do, with love
and caring and scribing each fact of their existence because we are them
and they are us.
So, as a scribe called, to tell the story of my family, it is up to that
one called in the next generation to answer the call and take their place
in the long line of family story- tellers. That is why I do my family
genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and put
flesh on the bones.

Love
David

2005-08-23 Thread Janette Humphrey
Hello to my secret pal in the US,

I received this months parcel yesterday and it is lovely. All those pretty
things that you have given me. The doll keychain is too nice to go on my keys
as it may get damaged so I am going to put in on my basket for everyone to see.
The sachet smells lovely and I'm just about to run out of paper for my
shopping lists, so the magnetic notepad is soon to be on my fridge ready for
use. My friend has tried to pinch the stick on sequins but she can't have
them! The hair clip and necklace set are both very pretty too. The skittles
are delicious and I can see why you like them so much. We don't have the mint
ones here in Australia yet but I hope they come here soon so that I can get
some more!!

Thanks again for my great parcel

Janette in Australia
