Hello, Мarco!
I am improved this rule:

      ou
      seja

  Usar vírgula: \1 \2,

And I tested it to local LanguageTool. And it worked well.
The old variant of this rule I make on community.languagetool.org, and  it is
not warning me about mistake.

Re: Help create rule

2016-01-16 Thread Yakov Reztsov
 Hello!

Word "vaca" has " NCFS000" and " VMIP3S0 "   POS tags.

You can replace  "NCFP000"  POS tag  in your rule or add new POS tag for word
"vaca" to POS tag dictionary.

This error has version that I build myself.
I checked   the version from

I'll look for a problem in my build system .

But you can use  pt as locale (country variants) also:

document,  and it works fine.

Yakov, thanks! I'm happy to report that yesterday's snapshot runs
fine, I can work with a file that previously caused immediate crashes.

Could you please confirm that this version also works?

I'd like to release this as a bug fix release with only that fix.

Re: Problems with LibreOffice 4.2x on Windows

2015-05-07 Thread Yakov Reztsov
 Hi!
I confirm this with LibreOffice 4.4.x

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90740

Now we have  memory info in LT about dialog.

Before crash LT2.9 tries to take all Java memory .

Hi all,

on Windows machines, LanguageTool 2.9 seems to cause crashes in LO 4.2x
(and newer versions). See this comment:

http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/9867#comment-41082

I can confirm that I get messages osl::thread create failed and a crash.

It's probably because of the alpha quality of LibreOffice, which gets
worse and worse with every update, but maybe we can work around its
stupidity? (The crashes are not replicable on Linux, at least nobody has
found them yet; so this is definitely not LanguageTool but a problem
with LO).

Marcin

Re: pt_PT: Added postag rules (plural/singular)

Hello!

I have added some basic posttag concordance rules (plural/singular):
  as a
  a as
  os o
  o os

I had to create four rules for each.

To have just one rule for each, I would need to know how to use:
regexp=yes
with postags.

Can someone tell me how to do it?

Thanks!

Kind regards,
  Marco A.G.Pinto
    -

The expression:
regexp=yes
is used when we use regexp expression in token.

We use: postag_regexp=yes
then  we use regexp expression in postag.

For example
token postag_regexp=yes  postag=DP3(.*)S/token

means word with the following postags:
DP3FSS
DP3MPS
DP3MSS

This feature has been missing for a long time in Portuguese and I

Hi!

I tested the current version of LT together with LO and Apache OpenOffice .
On LibreOffice 4.2 this problem does not occur . B ut   on Apache OpenOffice
4.1   this problem is present .

On  Apache OpenOffice 4.1     with LT 2.6 - this problem does not occur.
On  Apache OpenOffice 4.1     with LT 2.7 - this problem is present .

Apache OpenOffice built-in help requires Java to search function.
LibreOffice does not use Java for search help.

Is this problem related to the settings of classpath?

Hi,

I have modified the rule UpperCaseSentenceStart so that there is a match in
sentences starting with quotes like « or “ and a lower case word.

In the nightly tests there are some new matches for different languages. Tell
me if there is any problem.

In French there are new matches caused by wrong sentence tokenization:

« Ne nous sommes-nous pas rencontrés quelque part avant ? » demanda l'étudiant.

The matches in Polish and Russian do not happen in local tests. I don't know
why they happen in the regression tests.

Regards,

The matches for Russian is regressions.
Examples in
https://www.languagetool.org/regression-tests/20141219/result_ru_20141219.html
are elements of marked lists in document or elements of table.
But i n plain text these words should be written with a capital letter .

Either the dupes should be removed, or maybe
some of the dupe were meant to be the plural

In .../resource/ru/compounds.txt

These words are not duplicates.
These words are case forms and plural/singular forms of one word.

I'm surprised that tests did not pick up automatically

I am thinking to add rules to Ukrainian that would check if related
words agree on case/gender etc. There are several primary cases for
this:
1) having adjective and noun have the same case, gender etc
2) having nounapos;s/adjectiveapos;s gender or plural form to match that of
the verb
3) having adjective and/or noun to be in a right case if it follows
the preposition or a verb that requires some particular case

I was thinking about 3) for a bit and it looks like itapos;ll be too hard
to implement this in grammar.xml: we have 7 cases in Ukrainian and
some prepositions may allow several cases for following
nouns/adjectives and some nouns donapos;t change (currently I just mark
them as such in the dictionary instead of exploding same word 7 times
which may be more correct way to go).

I implemented it for Russian in grammar.xml.

And I use some prepositions for disambiguation in Russian.

Basically yes... however, at least my idea behind this feature was to
provide an independent explanation, so users don't have to trust LT but
are directed to some well-known dictionary or grammar website or so. So
maybe your description should itself contain such links?

Could someone create them and give me the path of the file to

Then I will edit the file and add the words there without much

The file, for example, could have an entry: auto-estrada. Then
I would create the others.

  Hi,
Uninstall English dictionary from setup program. Grammar checker is in this

And install another version English dictionary in extension manager.

I suggest that we include an English dictionary in LanguageTool, so that
the Lightproof grammar checker is removed on install of LT. However, I
am not sure if this is possible.

And we should file a bug to LO that they cripple the grammar checking
using an alternative tool, which is definitely better than Lightproof.

Extension can be a bundle, common and user in LibreOffice.
Bundle (embedded) extensions have high priority.
And user extension have low priority.

It is need to set a high priority for user extensions for solve this problem in
LibreOffice.

My suggestion is that when starting LibreOffice instead of reading from
the XMLs, the contents were already in files containing arrays with the
  words.

Let me give you an example for the English XML file:
  ARRAY:
  Possible Typos
  2
  ARE_STILL_THE_SOME
  IS_EVEN_WORST
  Grammar
  1
  WANT_THAT_I
  #END#

This is a very simple example of optimization. For example, it has the
type of grammar error and in the next position the number of entries of it
(convert string to number). It ends with a #END#.

  Hi Marco

I can't say that I like it. It would be messy. XML syntax can be
checked for example. Anyway, I doubt that it would help to speed up.

Before doing optimizations it is always necessary to measure first
otherwise you might try to optimize something that takes only 1%
of the time in the first place. Measuring also lets you verify objectively
with numbers that whatever you change, actually helps to speed up.

After reading your email, I was curious about the startup time (in
command line, not in LibreOffice), so I created a script to measure
  it for all languages:

  For each language, the script:

  - counts the number of XML rules. I used the latest in SVN r6239
so it can different slightly from numbers at
 http://www.languagetool.org/languages/
  - measures startup time (3 times to avoid outliers) when
launching LanguageTool with an empty sentence.

  Here is the script: http://dominique.pelle.free.fr/startup-time-lt.sh

  Here is the result:

  $ cd languagetool
  $ ./startup-time-lt.sh

lang | #rules | startup time in sec (3 samples)
  -++
ast | 61 | 0.29 0.26 0.27

This was measured on a 5 year old laptop
  (Linux x86, Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz)

What's interesting here, is that the startup time
does not strongly depend on the number of XML
rules. Ukrainian (uk) has only 12 xml rules, yet it
is 3.52 times slower than French (fr) which has
  2015 rules!

The slowest startup times are for Chinese, German
and Ukrainian. It would be interesting to find why.

  Regards
  -- Dominique

I spent a bit of time to find why the
startup time is slow with Ukrainian (uk)
(~1.80 sec) and yet it has only 12 xml rules:

  uk | 12 | 1.80 1.90 1.84

First, I disabled the SRX tokenizer by
  commenting out getSentenceTokenizer()
  in src/java/org/languagetool/language/Ukrainian.java
This saves about half a second to bring
  the startup time to:

 uk | 12 | 1.31 1.31 1.29

Disabling the SRX tokenizer in Esperanto.java
also saved half a second at startup for Esperanto.

I find it odd that SRX file src/resource/segment.srx
contains the rules for *all* languages. Wouldn't
it makes more sense to have a smaller SRX file
per language? The function that loads it
  (SRXSentenceTokenizer in
  src/java/org/languagetool/tokenizers/SRXSentenceTokenizer.java)
  knows the language.

But it would be against the SRX standard, which uses a hierarchy of
processing. Note that for all languages, we have a few common rules
(paragraph split etc.) and others could fall back on English etc. So
splitting is not actually a problem, it is the feature of SRX to have
 these things together,.

Anyway, the SRX tokenizer uses regular expressions, and if they are
monsters (too many disjunctions), it could be slow. Probably optimizing
the regexps in SRX will result in more saving than splitting and reading
separately. Note that for other SRX languages, we don't have too much of
 an overhead.

I try rewrite Ukrainian section in SRX file to remove some regular expressions.
