The most important part is that you see a line like this: DiskOnChip 2000 found at address 0x_ that shows your DoC was recognized and that cat /proc/mtd shows an mtd0 device with the correct size. If you can read the partition table of the DoC using fdisk under WISP, then all the driver modules should be fine and you can just post the output from cat /proc/mtd so we know what type and size DoC it is. The domain-name-servers option specifies a list of Domain Name System (STD 13, RFC 1035) name servers available to the client. Servers should be listed in order of preference. Yes, DHCP server can send the DNS settings, however in WISP-Dist pump is run with -d command. If you want you can modify the /etc/network/ifup script and remove -d option from pump parameters. I modified ifup as you suggested and removed the entries in wdistconfig, saveconfig and rebooted and still can not resolve any names.ping is say host lookup named failed. BTW - is there a script package for LEAF ? Any ideas what could be wrong ? My windows box, which is also a dhcp client has no problem resolving hostnames. [leaf-user] wisp and dns/dhcp
I am having trouble reaching my wisp box (v2290) from the outside via ssh. I currently have a SMC residential gateway sitting off of my cable modem. my wisp box is one of its dhcp clients with fixed ip address (192.168.0.22). I have the SMC setup to do virtual server, basically port forwarding. I have all traffic set to port 2006 redirected to my wisp box on port 22. I know sshd is working on wisp box because I can use putty and connect to it from an internal machine. I think it is a dns problem because ez-ipuodate complains about gethostbyname failing and I can not ping any sites by name. I have manually set the default gateway and dhcp server with wdistconfig with the information I get ipconfig /all on windows. Shouldn't I be getting dns and default gateway from the dhcp server ? Should I not set it manually ? If there are some commands I can run to make it easier to solve this problem please let me know. I have the ifconfig.lrp installed if that command produces better output then ip command. Should it have hda: hda1 three times in succession? Should VFS report that there were busy inodes on changed media? Thanks for all of the support to date!!! I'm not sure if this is applicable, but please remember there are two different FAT partition table formats: the Floppy partition table, with one big partition on the whole device, and the HDD partition table, which includes four partitions (generally referred to as primary partitions). Just a wild-a$$-guess, but you might get something like the above if your drive has a floppy partition table instead of a HDD partition table. What does fdisk -l /dev/hda show (dash ell, not dash one)? I too am trying to boot off a CF card in an IDE adapters. My problems are happening much earlier. My system will not even boot. I suspect it has to do the with the format on CF card. Unfortunetly I do not have a real unix envirnoment just a simulated Red Hat 7.2 using VMWare. I am accessing my CF card under Red Hat using a SanDisk SDDR-31 USB card reader. And used syslinux 1.52 from linux. I have a compact flash to ide converter board and would like to put a copy of Oxygen on a CF card and use the board to boot but I am not exactly sure how. I have connected my compact flash to my linux system via a SanDisk usb writer (SDDR-31) and the system sees it as /dev/sdb. I downloaded the latest Oxygen .bin file and I tried using dd to write it dd if=oxygen.bin of=/dev/sdb When I print the partition table with fdisk it doesn't look right; fdisk complains about different physical and logical endings and about partitions not ending on a cylinder boundry. [leaf-user] SSH via http ?
I have seen a commercial product that lets you use a browser to connect to a SSH server and get terminal access. Does anyone know if there a similar type application available for LEAF ? The reason I ask is because my company only lets http traffic pass through firewall (via a proxy server) and it would be nice to be able to reach my machine at home. __ Do You Yahoo!? [leaf-user] USB howto
I am slowing making progress on getting Bering to do what I need it to do...thanks to all of you. How do I add USB support ? At first I just need it at runtime for storage devices like disk-on-key and other removable usb devices that look like drives under Windows. It would be nice to boot off one of these devices as well, but it is a lower priority. I have read Steinkeuhler's LRP Hard Disk HOWTO and understand the basics of what is needed. I have already added ide support at boot and runtime. Now I need some more details. What .o files do I need for USB support ? The module configuration in lrcfg mentions doing mount none /proc/bus/usb -t usbdevfs. What does this do ? Where and how do I do it :) Are there any HOWTOs or guides ? [leaf-user] leaf questions
Hello All, I am new to the list and leaf. I recently purchase a thin client (XL 1000) see http://www.computer-show.com/Modern/itemdesc.asp?CartId=242150STGZV10ic=SYS028tpc= which I would like to run linux on. It is basically a i386 machine with a 64m disk-on-chip and built in ethernet. I understand the latest version of bering includes drivers to recognize the DoC and I will start playing with if I can get it to work. I want to setup this box to be a headless server that includes samba client, java runtime, sendmail, dhcp, telnet server, and vnc. I know most of these package exist for red hat debian, etc. Can I use them on a LEAF system ? I like the idea of having everything on the ramfs, less writes to my DoC. Is possible to put my leaf image (in the case Bering) on my FAT format DoC and have my system boot from it ? Is it easy to take .rpm files and convert them to .lrp files ? Or should I format the DoC with a linux filesystem and use it for storage of my LEAF image ? Thanks in advance for your time. David __ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! [leaf-user] syslinux and pxe
Hello All, I am just getting started with LRP/LEAF and trying to boot my box using PXE. I am trying to load a 2.9.8 LPR idiot image and when my machine starts to boot it say it doesn't have enough conventional memory; I guess it needs 608k. I tried holding down the ctrl key during the boot and it avoids the memory check but doesn't boot. Is anyway around this ? Do newer version of syslinux require less memory ?
