[LegacyUG] flash drives (was error opening database)

2008-12-28 Thread myrna20
Gene,

I have several flash drives of varying sizes and none of them
have a slide anywhere. We also have two MP3 players and they both
have slides to lock them. Is there something I am missing?

I use the flash drive (updated when we are ready to leave home)
to take my data back and forth to my daughter's house but also
have my data backed up on a portable hard drive (weekly), send a
zipped file to myself on g-mail (monthly) and a partitioned 2nd
drive on the computer (at the same I save the daily work). Maybe
a little overkill here but don't want to lose my data. Oh yes,
about every 6 months I make a CD and take it to my friends house
down the street.

Re: [LegacyUG] What would you call "America" in 1666?

2008-11-24 Thread myrna20
Good morning all,

There is a listing of states and when they were admitted to the
union on Wikipedia.org
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_date_of_statehood).
I printed this off and have it next to my keyboard. Until the
state was admitted/ ratified I always use "American Colonies" or
the territory; after that I use USA. I have one family that came
from France to Quebec and always use "Quebec, Canada" even though
it is not totally correct.

Hope this helps

In our family I have kept all the information on my ex (who is now deceased)
and have a very extensive family tree on his side. BUT There are children
involved so I wanted this information for them and the grandchildren. I have
lost touch with his mother but am trying to locate her.

If there are no children involved I would only have the basic information about
the spouse and maybe the parents. The spouse's mother may want to keep the
photos, etc. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Re: [LegacyUG] Why is LugacyUG sending ads to buy watches..

2008-09-17 Thread myrna20
Most of the time when this happens it is because someone has his e-mail address
in their address book. Then they get a virus/worm/trojan/whatever and it steals
the addresses. After that the worm sends spam to all of those addresses and
picks up others on the way.

Someone was able to hack into yahoo addresses and I have received spam from
every myrna at yahoo in the world. Just have patience.

No matter how much it is talked about, no matter how many really good FREE
anti-virus programs are available there are always people that still say "it
wont get me so I don't need it"! Next to backup and registry cleanup programs
anti virus programs are the most important (and Legacy of course).

Don't blame it on Legacy, Please!

[LegacyUG] Geo database in V7

2008-07-07 Thread myrna20
Hello Listers,

After looking thru the archives (fruitlessly) I thought I would
ask all of you experts!!

I have downloaded the new V7 and set it for deluxe. Now I want to
download the geo databases. After "create"ing it I tried to
"download." It goes to the internet and then hangs up. So, is
this a problem that anyone else has found?

All of the DBs were downloaded previously into V6. Have there
been any updates to the geo DBs? If not then maybe I could just
import them from my V6. Have not tried that so far.

Thank goodness this has come up again!

We have been gone for two months (eye surgeries for my hubby) and
I had cancelled my e-mail list. When we got back yesterday I
immediately signed up again and then went to the archives --
HA -- I sorted by subject but after reading about 50
messages I just gave up. I had tried to read through the subjects
so I could screen out what I did not want to read. There is no
way that you can do that anymore.

So PLEASE be sure your subjects are correct! There is no way I
can catch up on two months of messages and I just know I have
missed some really good ones.

If I can ever stay off the pooter long enough to get unpacked I
am gonna download V7 and start playing. It is sooo good to be

[LegacyUG] a question about Legacy Charting Pre-Release Edition

2008-03-04 Thread myrna20
Geoff,

Twice now when in the charting program I get *hung up* with this error menu:

Sizing Options: LegacyCharting.EXE - no disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive E:

Of course there is no disk in the drive. I was not doing anything with that
drive. No matter what I do it is STUCK! I cannot get out of this without going
to task manager and closing the program. When this happened this time I was
changing the 'themes' to see what each looked like and checking out the other
options of the program (trying to learn it). I don't remember what I was doing
the first time the message came up.

There are only 90 people in this particular DB so I know I am not going to try
it on one of my larger ones.

OK, so I am gonna go back to reading the help section and see if I can figure
this out.

No luck with the affiliates program. You have to have a web site

[LegacyUG] an update to my presentation of Legacy

2008-02-25 Thread myrna20
Hello listers and staff,

Just wanted to let everyone (that is interested) know about the
meeting of our new genealogy group (of gringos) here in the heart
of Mexico and the presentation of Legacy.

It went Geeaatt! Isn't that what Tony the tiger always
says? The copies I had burned of the standard version of Legacy
were definitely a hit. The matrix with 4 different software
programs showed that Legacy was "more bang for the buck" and most
people were happy to see the presentation. Hopefully there will
be at least 20 more happy users of Legacy.

The only problem may be that I really did build up our great
online users group. But, maybe they will all do the tutorial
FIRST (which I stressed) before they start with the users group
asking questions. Even if they don't, I know our great group here
will be ready and patiently answers the questions.

Thanks for all the support you gave me while I was preparing for
this.

[LegacyUG] How do I keep my locations menu open?

2008-02-24 Thread myrna20
Good morning listers,

Today I am wishing I had 3 monitors instead of two. BUT, right
now that wont even work.

I am working with the Henry County, Alabama cemeteries on #2
monitor. Legacy is open on #1. I have the Legacy screen open in
the family tab then click on "view, master lists, locations"
and have found the particular cemeteries. I want this screen
(locations) to stay open but then I cannot edit any of the data
on the family view. I have even tried the split screen and opened
the view... from each side but still could not edit the
opposite side.

Is there any way to do this? It is a real hassle to keep calling
up the view . and then locate the cemetery I want.

Thanks,

children from his late wife).
2) my maternal and paternal families and some of my first husband's (we did
have children together).
3) my first husband's (someone sent me a gedcom file and I imported it to a new
family file until I can clean it up and check all the data which goes back to
the 1400's)
4) son-in-law (spouse of my youngest daughter (he is listed with some of his
family in my database but like above I have downloaded someone else's gedcom
and am cleaning it up and checking it.
5) my husband's grandfather's maternal side (someone else is working really
hard on translating the Danish data and there was no way I was going to tell
her "NO" so it is there and I will pick and choose from it at a later date).

In fact, I have downloaded other gedcoms and as I clean them up and check them
I will merge what I want into whichever family they belong to and eventually
delete the gedcom and the old file.

Okay Sherry, is there a limit to the number of data files you can have?

Thanks again,
Myrna

Re: [LegacyUG] a few questions

2008-02-17 Thread myrna20
Thanks Heather,

I knew the charting was coming in the next version but did/do not
know what drag and drop charting is.

If the data files is what you are suggesting then I guess it
would almost be unlimited. I have several myself:
1)my husbands side (because we did not have children together and
he has children from his late wife).
2) my maternal and paternal families and some of my first
husband's (we did have children together).
3) my first husband's (someone sent me a gedcom file and I
imported it to a new family file until I can clean it up and
check all the data which goes back to the 1400's)
4) son-in-law (spouse of my youngest daughter) (he is listed with
some of his family in my database but like above I have someone
else's gedcom and am cleaning it up and checking it.
5) my husband's grandfather's maternal side (someone else is
working really hard on translating the Danish data and there was
no way I was going to tell her "NO" so it is there and I will
pick and choose from it at a later date).

In fact, now that I am writing this, I have downloaded other
gedcoms and as I clean them up and check them I will merge what I
want into whichever family they belong to and eventually delete
the gedcom and the old file. In the early stages of learning
Legacy and genealogy at the same time I made the mistake of
merging someone else's data before checking the import. NEVER
AGAIN!

Okay Sherry, is there a limit to the number of data files you can
have?

Thanks again,
Myrna (still shaking when thinking about talking in front of a

[LegacyUG] a few questions

2008-02-17 Thread myrna20
Hello Listers,

We have a new genealogy group here at Lakeside. It consists of
about 5 knowledgeable people on computers and genealogy and 25 or
so people that have some knowledge of computers and none on
genealogy. We also have several that *may* know how to turn on a
computer.

At our next meeting several of us will be presenting different
genealogy software packages. Even though I am definitely not an
expert I opened my big mouth and said I would present Legacy
(since I am the ONLY one here that uses it). Others will be
presenting PAF, FTM, and RootsMagic. I have downloaded and burned
copies of the standard version to pass out to anyone who wants to
try it (with permission from Sherry).

Another person has put together a matrix of the differences in
the software packages. The only one that comes anywhere near
Legacy is RootsMagic (which I had tried but did not like). In her
matrix she has a few statements that confused me and I wanted to
get some of your opinions.

1) traditional top-down tree (what is it?)
2) drag and drop charting (since I don't do charting I have not
idea)
3) number of data files (she lists 2 for Legacy and 35 for RM)

She says Legacy does not have these capabilities and RM does.
Since I am trying to convince everyone to use Legacy over the
other programs I need all the help I can get. And please
remember - I am a person who HATES to speak in front of others.
Even writing about it gives me the shakes.

So, anyone out there care to help this old lady convince others
how great Legacy is? What would be really nice is if someone took
a vacation and came down here to present it - unpaid of course
:-)))

Thanks,
Myrna

[LegacyUG] Training Videos on CD

2008-01-03 Thread myrna20
The videos are a great investment.

Anytime you have forgotten something you can slip in the video and refresh your
memory. And viewing them once a month or so will also let you catch what you
may have missed the last time you saw it.

**Almost** all of the questions asked on this board are on the videos. Yes, I
know it is easier to ask than to look and I do that myself (4 lashes with that
wet noodle) but sometimes you get the answer faster by looking at the video
than from the message board.

Geoff has told us that there will only be a few changes with the new version
that will change on the videos so I am assuming that if you purchase the videos
now Legacy staff will work with you about the cost of the ones that need to be
replaced/updated. Even if the whole package changes it is well worth the money
to invest in the training CDs.

OK, I am off the soap box now!

Re: [LegacyUG] Searching by age?

So did I! The only time I will use the "never married and/or had

the reports.

Myrna

By the way, I would like to share one comment about having the
comment
"never having been married and no children" for relatives who
died as
children -- I found it to be really jarring to see that in my
descendants report beside an infant, etc. I erased it in every
case I
had used it.

Re: [LegacyUG] Having more than one file

2007-11-26 Thread myrna20
Hi Michele,

I also have separate files for my second husbands side and for
mine but only because we did not have children together. My first
husband is in my files with all the ancestors and our children
and grandchildren. My second husband is also in the file as
second husband and that we had no children but that is all the
data from him that is in MY file.

My husbands file has his first wife and all of both their
ancestors along with their children and grandchildren and me as
second wife.

Even if you do not want all the ancestor data from your husbands
side you should at least have him and your children in your file.
This means you would also be listed in his file.

Does that make sense to you?

[LegacyUG] one more time for Ancestry

2007-11-26 Thread myrna20
This past weekend I have tried at least 5 times to upload a file
to Ancestry with 6700 names and it failed EVERY time. I had tried
it the same way as the last file I uploaded so I knew it should
work.

This morning, out of desperation, I tried to upload it using
Internet Explorer (I normally use Firefox because of the safety
issues with IE). Well!! The darn thing went through the first
time. S, I am making myself a BIG note that when I upload to
Ancestry to do it the following way:

1) Bring up Internet Explorer, log on to Ancestry.
2) Go back to Legacy and click 'FILE', then down to
3) 'Upload to Ancestry Online Family Tree'.
4) In the next screen, click the boxes you want to include with
the file; be sure the 'Record Selection' at the bottom of the
screen is correct then
5) click on 'Select File Name and Start Export'. This screen is
where you put the name of the GEDCOM file you are preparing for
upload. Legacy will then create the GEDCOM file which will take a
few minutes depending on how many names are in your file.
6) Then a box comes up telling you the geddcom file is complete
with the number of individuals and the number of families. When
you press OK it will automatically take you to your DEFAULT
browser unless you have brought up IE first.
(If you use a different browser then you MUST open IE before you
start this process (or you could set the default browser for
Legacy in your ''Options', 'Customize', 'Launch' and then change
or add IE to #1) and log in to ancestry. )
7) on the Ancestry screen, first blank, type in the location of
the gedcom file (i.e, D:/Legacy/data/name.ged) or click on the
'Browse' button at the end of the box and look for the file.
8) Type in the name you want to use on ancestry (i.e, Judy and
Harry families). The next box is already checked giving Ancestry
permission to add your files to OneWorldTree. In the next box
9) Type in a small description of the files such as locations for
each family, what you are looking for, whether you will accept
additions, corrections, etc.
10) click the box for 'I accept the Submission Agreement then
click on Upload. Do not do anything else on the internet until
this upload is complete.

Now for a little tidbit on Ancestry. With their last upgrade the
program is now smart enough to know if any of the names are still
living and will block any living data (other than names) that you
upload. ONLY you and anyone you invite with the option to view
living data can see any of the living data. If you created your
gedcom and told it to upload living data then you can see and
edit at Ancestry but no one else can unless you invite them and
give them that permission at the invite screen. You can also give
the invitee the status of Guest, Contributor, or Editor. Lots of
new changes, thank goodness.

Maybe this will also answer the question the OP had about WVR and
Ancestry.

Now that I have written this I am about to print it off and put
it on top of my desk for the next time.

Have a great day!

Re: [LegacyUG] Geo Location Question

2007-11-25 Thread myrna20
Hello Mike,

Here is my uneducated opinion.

They had to start somewhere and they know the US better than
other countries. You can change the way you use it in other
countries. There is no reason to have only FOUR sections on the
location and you can put in whatever you want. That is why Legacy
is so great

I am now finding lots of ancestors in Denmark and England. No,
they don't fit but I have worked out the way I want mine to read.
I use the GEO locations as a GUIDE, not as the gospel.

'Nuff said', I am off my soap box now but please don't flame me
today.

Hugs to ALL of you and especially the Legacy staff.

MIchele,

If you go to this site:
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/GeoDownload.asp

and then page down it will show you this "Geo Database Region
Files".
  1.. AF - Africa Region (5.5 MB)
2.. AM - Americas, excluding USA (4.7 MB)
  3.. AS - Asia Region (14 MB)
  4.. EU - Europe Region (9.5 MB)
  5.. PA - Pacific Region (2.1 MB)
6.. US - United States Region (2.9 MB)
Pick out which region you want and then download to your
computer. Over the past I have gradually downloaded all of them
but number 1, Africa region. So far I do not have any ancestors
from there. You will see that number 4 is for the Europe region
and that is the one you want.

Donna,
I do the same. Set up folders and then create rules so your
messages go to the folders you want. That way your inbox is not
FULL all time. In fact I have a folder for Message boards then
sub folders for the different lists I subscribe to. The same for
messages concerning different families under Genealogy, etc. etc.
It may be a little tedious the first few times but now it is very
easy to create new folders/sub-folders and really lets me control

[LegacyUG] Oooops

2007-10-03 Thread myrna20
Sorry Listers,

I was so excited about tracking the ship on Google Earth I did a
reply to Robert (on the list) instead of sending it to his
address.

Please forgive me. I just got back from Texas (lots of heat and
humidity) and subscribed to the list again and have forgotten all
my list manners!

BTW, Welcome to all the newcomers that have subscribed while I
was gone for 6 weeks.

Sure good to be home again,

Re: [LegacyUG] Favorite Legacy Tip

2007-08-20 Thread myrna20
If there are no birth or death dates available for someone I
ALWAYS add "Est" to my birth date. All other dates are as I
receive them, i.e, about, cir, etc. This way I know it is plus or
minus about 20 years and gives me something to look for. I know
that anything with the Est is MY''' estimate and not someone
else's.

My default is also set to Living = NO.

[LegacyUG] Vacation

2007-08-20 Thread myrna20
Hello Listers,

I have really enjoyed reading all the 'favorite Legacy tips.'
Some I know and some I didn't - see, an "older" person can still
learn new tricks.

I am trying to beat the hurricane out of Mexico (I am down south
of Guadalajara).I am headed for Texas Wednesday morning. I will
cancel my message board until I return since access to a computer
will be iffy at best.

Please remember to change your subject line so when I do return I
can quickly go through the archives.

Thanks all,

Re: [LegacyUG] making 'County' stick

Hi Again Leon,

I took a chance and did it. So, the change was made to

"GeoExtraCodes-Alt"

and not to the County or State file. It is done. AND yes - I did
make an "Alt" file for each one so if/when I mess it up I can fix
it again. Now I just have to try it out.

Hi Leon,

ps, sorry bout the HTML. My address for the list is set to
send plain text. I told you my 'senior moments' were at work
today. Sometimes I cheat and do a "reply" to someone else's

that or pay more attention to the message I am about to "steal",
hadn't I???

Thanks for the info on changing the geo codes. I will do that.
I think I will wait until tomorrow - maybe a good nights sleep
will help. And the change is to be done on the States and not
County?

Thanks again,

[LegacyUG] problem with v 6.0.0.155

2007-08-03 Thread myrna20
After downloading the new update I am having a nagging little
problem and then found another problem (probably has nothing to
do with the new version).

1) Somehow the new version changed SOME of my options. Before I
had 'Options, Customize, Data Defaults, Living Indicator Default'
set as NO. The new update changed it to YES. Even though I
changed it to NO, saved it (several times in fact and even
restarted Legacy) it will not put NO automatically. I have even
cold started the computer but no luck.

2) This other problem may have been there but I never paid
attention. After merging duplicates in a file then rechecking for
duplicates to ensure I did not miss any, it puts the same
duplicates on the new list even though I went through options and
told the program they were NOT duplicates and saved. There were
only about 32 dups so it was really no big deal to do those again
but it could get very discouraging if there were many dups and
they show up EVERY time you run the check even if you have told
it they were not dups.

Thanks,

Re: [LegacyUG] Please truncate your mail

2007-08-01 Thread myrna20
Even better would be if people would set up their "options" to
uncheck the box for "include message in reply". That is available
in all of the e-mail programs I use. Then if I DO want to snip
part of the message and include it I can do that. Otherwise NONE
of the OPs message is included. Much better, much shorter. I
myself just got off of dial-up so I understand.

Re: [LegacyUG] Printing an e-mail without all the Legacy info at the bottom.

2007-07-24 Thread myrna20
Valerie,
I don't mean to be bit___ but you really should take a few
basic classes in your Windows operation system. Almost all of the
questions you have ask so far concern basics in computing and not
the Legacy program.
I do understand how you feel because of all the questions and
responses concerning Access. I have a mental block when it comes
to spreadsheet programs so I just overlook all of those since I
do not intend to learn Access at this late stage in life. Takes
too much time away from genealogy {:)).
Please don't give up and PLEASE don't take this the wrong
way. You will enjoy your computer and Legacy much more if you
understand some of the basics of computers before jumping in to
learn about a genealogy program first.

Re: [LegacyUG] Research notes for recent work

2007-07-24 Thread myrna20
Two monitors is a great way to do research. I also have a program
called "UltraMon" that makes it very easy to set up your screens
and move back and forth between them. Much better than the
windows capability or splitting your one screen into different
sections.

I have Legacy open now on my main (right monitor) and e-mail,
yahoo messenger and ancestry on my secondary (left monitor). It
is very seamless going from one screen to the other and makes it
so easy when copying from the census screen in the Legacy
individual screen.

As you can probably tell, I have only had this setup for a week
but it is truly FANTASTIC!

Legacy program and data/media to an external hard drive. Once a
month or whenever I do a lot of data entry I will send myself the
data by e-mail to my g-mail account. My problem is - where are my
user settings??? They don't seem to be backed up with my program
files. They are never backed up with the data files but I just
cannot find any .usr files on my computer. I have also looked in

are - just that they are. PLEASE, where are they?

[LegacyUG] Legacy "usr" files

2007-06-25 Thread myrna20
Hello again listers,
In reference to my last message about my user files: My
monthly backup is a full backup of the program to an external
drive. The Legacy program is on my D drive so it looks like this:
D:\leg usr files
D:\Legacy
All of these files are backed up along with the data - monthly.
So, I deleted the "D:\leg usr files" and copied the "G:\leg usr
files" to the D drive. That still did not put my older (and the
one I want) user files to the program. What do I do now? Where
are the settings that I customized and that I want back? What did
I misunderstand about where the files are?
Thanks,
Myrna

[LegacyUG] user settings

2007-06-24 Thread myrna20
Hi listers and staff,
After reading the comments last week about the settings for
the index view I finally went to the tab and checked mine out.
Well, my columns were okay but the font was way too big for the
lines. I tried to change it. Even after 3 or 4 attempts the font
would not change so - dumb me - I hit "restore defaults." That
changed the font on that one screen but also changed everything
else that I had set over the last few years. I don't like it but
cannot for the life of me remember how to go back to what I had.
Yes, I have backups but don't want to lose the data I have
input since doing the restore default - just want my old user
settings back. Is there any way to get my old user settings back,
Please
Thanks,
Myrna

Re: [LegacyUG] GenSmarts 2.0 for Legacy - Now Available

2007-06-24 Thread myrna20
Hi Geoff,
I recently purchased and downloaded the new GenSmarts but
cannot find "hide nor hair" of my receipt (which I normally
keep.). Is there any way to check online and see if I received
the discount? Maybe that would be a nice addition to the web
site - to have a "My Account." Then we could see what we have and
have not purchased and the prices paid for the software.

Thanks,
Myrna Jorgensen

Good morning listers,
Has anyone figured out the search string for "Footnote.com"
yet? I would like to add this one to my search string since I
recently subscribed to it.
Thanks,

Re: [LegacyUG] another reason to NOT use HTML

2007-06-07 Thread myrna20
Hi Paul,
First of all, listers, please forgive me for my bit--ing.
I always forget and if it were not for the fact that I have OE
set to send only "plain text" to the list I would still do it.
Sometimes I reply to someone and if they sent in HTML then my
message replied that way. Even HTML would be fine if people would
make the fonts big enough to read. I love HTML messages when I
can read them.
Now to get back on to Legacy - I am even having a problem
with the font sizes on some of the screens because when you
enlarge it the lines of print -on the screen - overlap. I have
played with different sizes and different fonts and have finally
settled on one of each that seem to be the lesser of the evils.
So, that is all I am going to say about this matter. Thanks
to all of you that can help out the "folks with bad eyes".

[LegacyUG] another reason to NOT use HTML

2007-06-07 Thread myrna20
Good morning Listers,
This morning I was trying to read the messages from the
group. Several are still using HTML although it is requested that
you NOT use it. Well, another reason to NOT use HTML is me and
probably many people like me.
   I cannot read it. ***
Because my mail comes to OE it cannot be enlarged anymore than it
is now. When you write in HTML it usually comes as 8 point and
too small to read. I have gotten to the point that I just delete
it and hope I have not missed anything.
PLEASE (yes I am shouting so you can hear me) please, use
plain text in a readable size font for us "old fogies" that are
having sight problems.
Thank you,
Myrna

This string, pasted in the appropriate space works well - with
major credit
to Jim Terry.

Ruth - here is the string and it works great for me.

Re: [LegacyUG] [Legacy UG] Help - Searching Internet using"Search Internet for Current Person"

2007-06-03 Thread myrna20
Check the message from Jim Terry on Friday, June 1 @5:48 p.m.
Because the link did not completely hyperlink I had to copy to
WordPerfect and make it all hyperlink. Then when I copied and
pasted it worked perfectly.
Myrna

Legacy Users,

Here is a work around:

In Legacy, click Internet on the menu bar and select "Search
Internet for
Current Person." Next click on the "Customize Searches" button.
Click on one
of the "Select" buttons (I'd select the one next to the
Ancestry.com search)
to bring up the Select an Internet Search window. Scroll down to
Ancestry.com, click on Edit.

Copy the following URL and paste it in the search string field,
replacing
the one that starts with http://service.bfast.com:

http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&=&=&=&=&=&=&=&=&=&=&gsfn=[
GivenNames]&gsln=[SurName]&=&gsby=[BirthYear]&gsb2co=1%2CAll+Countries&gsb2p
l=1%2C+&gsdy=[DeathYear]&gsd2co=1%2CAll+Countries&gsd2pl=1%2C+&=&=&=&=&=&=&=
&sbo=0&ufr=0&srchb=r&prox=1&db=&ti=0&ti.si=0&gl=allgs&gss=ansmp&so=3

This is an extremely long link, so make sure it all gets pasted
into the
search string field exactly, with no breaks or spaces.

Click Save, then at the next screen click Select, then at the
next screen
Close and try the Ancestry.com search again.

Good luck,

Jim Terry

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy add-on 'Map My Family Tree software '

2007-04-21 Thread myrna20
Thanks Robert,
Yes, Millennia has always been good about taking care of
their costumers. I forwarded the message to Legacy sales,
complete with the receipt that states it is a "downloadable".
This morning I received a message stating they were reviewing it
and will let me know.
The funny thing is - I have been trying to 'talk' myself into
buying this add-on and had finally convinced myself to get it.
Now I am having second thoughts again so if I cannot get a
download I may just cancel it. The dollars available for
genealogy have to be budgeted in and this addiction - loops,
hobby - is not cheap!
Anyway, thanks again for responding and to the staff for
forwarding my messages to the correct group.

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy add-on 'Map My Family Tree software '

2007-04-20 Thread myrna20
Hi Robert,
Yes, they said it was for shipping. I wanted to download it ---
and the site says it can be downloaded. Then they hit me up for
$7.00 and want to ship it to me. It is just a pain in the butt
because we live in Mexico and I cannot have it shipped here (as a
CD it would never arrive). That means I have to send it to a
Texas address and I wont be able to have it until we go back to
the states in several months. I am very IMPATIENT, ya know

[LegacyUG] Legacy add-on 'Map My Family Tree software '

2007-04-20 Thread myrna20
Hello Listers,
Today I tried to order the add on 'Map My Family' as a
download (as stated on the web site). This evening I received an
e-mail stating they needed another $7.00 because it cannot be
downloaded. If any of you bought this software then how did you
receive yours?
I have become so paranoid lately about this type of e-mail
that I always check them out first and I knew I could find out
from this wonderful group.
Thanks,
