Ron - I realize this doesn't relate to genealogybut - That sounds like a
great benefit. We have so much confusion here in the USA on the bill being
proposed, that it is impossible to separate the propaganda from the truth. I
was hoping some of our news folks would write a series of articles outling the
programs in other countries - but they don't seem to have the desire. BTW - I'm
76, so its good to hear that you are able to acquire treatment at our age. :-)

[LegacyUG] adding Military even bug?

2009-08-23 Thread Dede Holden
I have installed the latest update of Legacy 7 Deluxe (7.0.0.107). This
morning when I tried to add a Military event, I encountered the following
problem: Once I type Military, then tab to enter the rest of the fields,
the other fields disappear! Only the Notes section remains. Can anyone
else duplicate this? I did a File Repair, etc., but this did not solve the
problem. If someone else can duplicate this, I'll report it as a bug.

Re: [LegacyUG] adding Military even bug?

2009-08-23 Thread Dede Holden
Ron and Dennis,

Please forgive my original post in rich text - it was quite early and
I forget to check that sometimes. My plain text and rich text look
exactly the same when I am typing, so it's hard for me to tell the
difference.

As I stated in my original post, I am using Legacy 7 Deluxe, and I
have installed the latest update (7.0.0.107).

Here is the problem, step by step:

From Family View, click on the Individual. In the Individual screen,
Events/Facts section, click Add. For Event, enter Military. Once I
select Military, then click Tab to move to the Description, all the
fields except Event Name disappear.

Other events that I have tried (Census, Obituary, etc.) work
properly when I try to add them, showing Event, Description, Date, and
Place.

Thanks for your help.

My apology for the delay in responding. Your post certainly adds clarity for

I'm still trying to figure out what is going on, but I agree with what you

Is it my imagination, or do the details fields disappear completely and never
print when you have overridden a Master Source? I'm not sure yet that if it's
that consistent?

I just know it's getting frustrating

Yes, based on one quick experiment with the Descedant Narrative report and
with footnotes on each page, if the master source has overrides, then all
detail fields are missing from both the initial and subsequent citations.

See if you have a different display selected for the Descendant report:
 - Select desired report
 - Click on Report Options
 - Select Format tab
 - Click on Event Narrative Format
 - Make sure Use event sentence formatting is selected, not Use List
Style
 formatting
See if that resolves the issue.

See if you have a different display selected for the Descendant report:
- Select desired report
- Click on Report Options
- Select Format tab
- Click on Event Narrative Format
- Make sure Use event sentence formatting is selected, not Use List Style
formatting
See if that resolves the issue.

[LegacyUG] Descendants Book Report bug for spouse notes?

2007-12-01 Thread Susan Daily
I am using Legacy Deluxe ver 6.0.0.155. I am trying to do a small
descendants book report. I have about 6 generations known but am only
selecting 2 and beginning with the first generation. I do not want
spouses notes to show up, so unselected that. But when you get to the
second generation, it lists the children and all their information,
including the children's spouses' notes! I am including Main entries
for Individuals with children, and Register format.

So wouldn't that be a bug? Those are the notes I am trying to
eliminate. Can anyone else reproduce this?

Thank you,
Susan Daily

Re: [LegacyUG] Descendant Naragtive Report Bug?

2007-09-01 Thread Brian/Support

Carol,

Thank You!!! I think you have just found the reason we have had reported
problems with missing Location Indexes. We could never figure out why
that was happening. As Cathy explained in her reply the RTF file does
not support more than one Index. If you have selected both in the Index
Options Legacy does not turn off the Location Index selection but it
does only include a Name Index since the RTF cannot contain both.

I just ran a test and confirmed that once you have chosen rtf as a
report destination then no matter what you do later you cannot get the
Location Index in either the Preview or a PDF file until you close
Legacy then restart the program.

Now I can describe the steps to duplicate the problem to the programmers
in enough detail so they can find a solution.

Hi Carol,

Are you sure that both indexes aren't in the PDF?
They are both there for me. (same version 6.0.0.155)

However, in an RTF you can only have one index. It can only code for
one index.

In Microsoft Word you can only set up one index.
You have to make your choice.

Re: [LegacyUG] Is This a Bug!

2007-05-22 Thread Susan Daily

I can only guess if the woman didn't have a father, you accidently
clicked in the blank father box, rather than the large box above her
name. When you click in the father box, it says Add an Individual -
it doesn't use the word Father. But when you click on the spouse box,
it asks Add a Husband. If you had seen the word Father, that would
have been a red flag.

I also liked Susie's question about the single woman having a child -
did she? Because the spouse may have picked up the child's surname as
his own, too. (And we presume the child has the mother's maiden name.)

No, this was a single woman with no children who had been included in my data
for a couple of years; I had just learned the name of her husband (at least,
the father of her child) and was about to enter him before entering the child.
I tried several times and the name came up each time. I (short-sightedly) did
not try other single women until later but, when I did, the spot came up blank
each time. I believe it was an aberration that will not be explained. Let us
now go on to more important things.

Wayne...

Not trying to be trite, but did you check to see if you have the single
woman entered in the correct position. I have on number of occasions made
the mistake of entering a female in the male side, the left side in the
Family view. Even if you change the Headings to Spouse and Spouse, males
have to be entered on the right and females on the left.

Wayne,
Does the Single woman have any other family links? Is she an
unattached person added to the file? (Sounds like the feature when
you select on a blank father's box, it gives the same surname.)

I tried it with both a single male and a single female, but both had a
father and mother attached. In both cases, the data remained blank.

Yes, but I'm not sure that I would call it a bug. What you are actually
doing is adding a Father to someone on the pedigree and as that person
has already been given a Surname (presumably), Legacy naturally assumes
that his/her father's Surname is the same.

Re: [LegacyUG] Is This a Bug!

2007-05-21 Thread Susie Zada

Hi Wayne,

Did the single woman have a child? If so then the father is possibly
picking up the surname of the child.

[LegacyUG] Is this a BUG?

I have noticed that when I make a Descendant Narrative Report and where a
person has a birth note and a marriage note, the marriage note is before the
birth note. Is this the way it is supposed to do?
