Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth
No, I thought that FF3 had a problem accessing VE. I am not sure because I have not yet upgraded to it. But if Legacy by design is accessing directly through IE then it should have no impact either way. Sorry for the confusion. Other possibilities may be a firewall problem on his PC preventing scripts, Active-X or whatever. One way to find out might be to simply try accessing VE in IE independently of Legacy. Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth
Hi My experience with Legacy and VE is as follows. I have IE7 on my computer but I use Fire Fox as my default browser. When I first opened up maps I got a message that VE could not be found. Left maps and played around a bit went back to maps and got a blank screen, waited a long time and left again. about the third time and from the locations field I finally saw a map and went back to the program to maping my family and waited and the map showed up with the pins. The next time I opened Legacy the map field was white again I waited a long time and the map showed up! Now it showes up after a short waite and works fine. It's almost as if the program had to find its own way and now that it has, it works fine. - Original Message From: Amrit Yegnanarayan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: LegacyUserGroup@legacyfamilytree.com Sent: Tuesday, June 24, 2008 8:00:39 AM Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth Thanks. I assume on your original install you saw no error messages. I wonder whether reinstall would make a difference. 1) You might want to check your system, for XP maybe other OSs scan file system To do this simply go to the *Run *box on the *Start Menu* and type in: *sfc /scannow* This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html# service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. 2) Would it be possible for you to list your System info. on XP Start-My Computer Right Click and select properties On My System(jdm) (With abbreviations) MS XP Pro Ver 2002 SP2 SKIP REGISTER TO STUFF Computer Intel P4 2.53 GHz 2.56 GHZ 2 GB Ram thanks, jdm Amrit Yegnanarayan wrote: Ron, I tired with IE7 as default too and the result was the same. Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth
John, Thanks for the suggestions. However, I just came home and tried what I planned to do. I tried to uninstall LG7 and got an error Unable to find INSTALL.LOG. I reinstalled and it works fine except for VE, for which I get the same error. I will give you some more background info: 1. I had LG 6 and LGChart7 pre-release on my machine 2. I installed LG7 and LGChart 7 on Sunday 3. Found VE does not work - error as reported What I would like to do is to remove all traces of LG and reinstall clean - I know that all dlls may not get cleaned out. Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth - change to push pin markers
I see what you're asking. Sorry I misunderstood. I should probably go back to lurking. :-) It may just be a broad interpretation of the word 'push pin'. It seems like I remember earlier some discussion of an actual push pin looking marker but the end might have been too wide and covered detail on the map during certain displays? Maybe the design was changed to different sizes of the balloon looking marker for this reason. If you'd rather have the option of using a push pin that actually looks like a push pin, use the 'suggest a new feature' request under the Legacy home tab. The next time I opened Legacy the map field was white again I waited a long time and the map showed up! Now it showes up after a short waite and works fine. Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth
LG7 has been an unmitigated disaster for me. I am now stuck with a LG7 that is not fully functional and I cannot even remove it and revert to LG6. Is there any other FT software that is better than this? I have wasted so much time on this and LG support has been of no help at all. Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth
Sometimes when I have not been able to uninstall via Control Panel Add/Remove. This problem was related for me when I had several different installations on my machine. I have been able to uninstall, when I go to installation directory and run unwise.exe. Unwise.exe will use the install.log file in the same folder, where sometimes the process via Control Panel has problems locating the correct install.log file. Good detective work on your Error 53, I need to refer to the log file you mentioned more myself. jdm Amrit Yegnanarayan wrote: I just checked for log files and in LegError.log, I found this: Sunday, September 16, 2007Error 3314: The field 'tblMR.IDMS' cannot contain a Null value because the Required property for this field is set to True.
