Amrit,

Installing over the file which is causing the problem will normally enable you
to uninstall it.

LG7 has been an unmitigated disaster for me. I am now stuck with a LG7 that is
not fully functional and I cannot even remove it and revert to LG6. Is there
any other FT software that is better than this? I have wasted so much time on
this and LG support has been of no help at all.

Null value because the Required property for this field is set to True. Enter
a value in this field. - Error saving Marriage.
Saturday, June 21, 2008Error 53: File not found - Error creating Virtual Earth

There are a lot more of the Error53 lines (as many times as I tried).

I also looked for the install.log file and find that it is in the Legacy
directory (in which installed). I can attach my install file if that is allowed
and if it will help solve my problems, which are now 2:
1. Cannot uninstall
2. Cannot use VE

I assume on your original install you saw no error messages.
I wonder whether reinstall would make a difference.

1) You might want to check your system, for XP maybe other OSs
scan file system

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to
scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with
which it finds a problem.

2) Would it be possible for you to list your System info.
on XP
Start-My Computer
Right Click and select properties

On My System(jdm) (With abbreviations)
MS XP

Don't forget that VirtualEarth is a Microsoft programme, not a a Legacy

whatever.

If you look at the copyright line on the VE maps shown on the What's New

(The maps at http://maps.live.com/ are 2008 and the pins are different

A simple google of the phrase Error 53: File not found gives the answer as
the first choice:

SYMPTOMS
The following error message displays when you attempt to call a function in a dynamic-link library
(DLL) file from Visual Basic:

Error 53 File Not Found

The error message occurs at the function call statement.

CAUSE
This message occurs when Windows is unable to load the specified DLL, particularly if the DLL has
not been saved at the specified location. It will also occur if the dependency files required by the

Install the dependency files required by the DLL file.
--

Basically you are missing a DLL file (Dynamic Link Library).

There is no entry on the Legacy site for Error 53.
If you did any house cleaning on your computer you may have moved or deleted the required file.
You may need to un-install and re-install Legacy.

No, I thought that FF3 had a problem accessing VE. I am not sure because I
have not yet upgraded to it. But if Legacy by design is accessing directly
through IE then it should have no impact either way.

Sorry for the confusion.

Other possibilities may be a firewall problem on his PC preventing scripts,
Active-X or whatever. One way to find out might be to simply try accessing
VE in IE independently of Legacy.

believe I read somewhere that FF3 has problems with virtual Earth.

2008-06-24 Thread Amrit Yegnanarayan
Both the site work perfectly fine from FF3 and IE7. The reason it does
not seem to work is that there seems to be a missing file. On this
thread, there was a message stating that it is a missing DLL. I will
uninstall and reinstall and see if there is any diff.

Hi My experience with Legacy and VE is as follows. I have IE7 on my computer
but I use Fire Fox as my default browser. When I first opened up maps I got a
message that VE could not be found. Left maps and played around a bit went
back to maps and got a blank screen, waited a long time and left again. about
the third time and from the locations field I finally saw a map and went back
to the program to maping my family and waited and the map showed up with the
pins. The next time I opened Legacy the map field was white again I waited a
long time and the map showed up! Now it showes up after a short waite and
works fine. It's almost as if the program had to find its own way and now that
it has, it works fine.

1) You might want to check your system, for XP maybe other OSs

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection

No problems at all. The new Fire Fox is awesome. Only problem I have had

since I closed it anyway, I just ignore it. New function if wonderful.
Legacy does not seem to notice the difference.

John,
Thanks for the suggestions. However, I just came home and tried what I
planned to do. I tried to uninstall LG7 and got an error Unable to find
INSTALL.LOG. I reinstalled and it works fine except for VE, for which I
get the same error. I will give you some more background info:

1. I had LG 6 and LGChart7 pre-release on my machine
2. I installed LG7 and LGChart 7 on Sunday
3. Found VE does not work - error as reported

What I would like to do is to remove all traces of LG and reinstall
clean - I know that all dlls may not get cleaned out. Now I am stuck not
being able to uninstall! So help in this regard is appreciated.

As for my computer details, here it is:

Error creating Virtual Earth map

I have IE7.* on my m/c, but it is not my default browser (FFX3.* is). I
switched to IE7 as default and still got the same error. Can anyone throw
light on what the problem may be? Legacy has been of very little help so

That list only changes the colors and size for me. Doesn't change it from a
balloon to a pin (even though the text says push pin, all I get are
balloons).

  Jeff,

Click on Mapping then Options at the lower part of the screen push pins
... there you can select from a list of markers.

Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth - change to push pin markers

2008-06-24 Thread Mary Fowler Leek
I see what you're asking. Sorry I misunderstood. I should probably go back to
lurking. :-) It may just be a broad interpretation of the word 'push pin'. It
seems like I remember earlier some discussion of an actual push pin looking
marker but the end might have been too wide and covered detail on the map
during certain displays? Maybe the design was changed to different sizes of the
balloon looking marker for this reason.

If you'd rather have the option of using a push pin that actually looks like
a push pin, use the 'suggest a new feature' request under the Legacy home tab.

switched to IE7 as default and still got the same error. Can anyone throw
light on what the problem may be? Legacy has been of very little help so
far.

Thanks,
Amrit.

Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth

2008-06-24 Thread John Magyari
Sometimes when I have not been able to uninstall via Control Panel
Add/Remove.
This problem was related for me when I had several different
installations on my machine.

I have been able to uninstall, when I go to installation directory and
run unwise.exe.
Unwise.exe will use the install.log file in the same folder, where
sometimes the process via Control Panel has problems locating the
correct install.log file.

Good detective work on your Error 53, I need to refer to the log file
you mentioned more myself.

I just checked for log files and in LegError.log, I found this:
Sunday, September 16, 2007Error 3314: The field 'tblMR.IDMS' cannot
contain a Null value because the Required property for this field is
set to True. Enter a value in this field. - Error saving Marriage.
Saturday, June 21, 2008Error 53: File not found - Error creating
Virtual Earth map.

There are a lot more of the Error53 lines (as many times as I tried).

I also looked for the install.log file and find that it is in the
Legacy directory (in which installed). I can attach my install file if
that is allowed and if it will help solve my problems, which are now 2:

1. Cannot uninstall
2. Cannot use VE

Amrit.

I assume on your original install you saw no error messages.
I wonder whether reinstall would make a difference.

1) You might want to check your system, for XP maybe other OSs
scan file system

To do this simply go to the *Run *box on the *Start Menu* and type in:

*sfc /scannow*

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html# service to scan all
protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with
which it finds a problem.

2) Would it be possible for you to list your System info.
on XP
Start-My Computer
Right Click and select properties

On My System(jdm) (With abbreviations)
MS XP
Pro
Ver 2002
SP2
SKIP REGISTER TO STUFF
Computer Intel
P4 2.53 GHz
2.56 GHZ 2 GB Ram

Ron,
I tired with IE7 as default too and the result was the same. I am
able to access VE at http://maps.live.com/ from FF3.* and IE7. Only
that I keep getting the same error irrespective of from where within
Legacy I access it. I have not tried reinstall, but am not
optimistic, as my father-in-law too has the same problem - same
error message.

Amrit.

Amrit,

You only have to have IE7 installed not set as default - so since you have it you can now forget
about it. You say purchased so I assume you have the Delux. Do you have enough memory
to run it (I know it says Path not Found)?

I don't think these possibilities will work but here goes: You do not say how you are
opening VE: have you tried both ways viz. using the Icon and ViewMaster
SourcesLocations making sure that the Show Map box is set in the case of the
latter - you may have to wait a while. You could try File Maintenance/Check Repair
but I'm even less optimistic!

If all else fails then reinstall may be the only option

Re: [LegacyUG] LG7 and Virtual Earth - change to push pin markers

2008-06-24 Thread Trippsibs5
Although I don't have Ver 7, I did see the What's New in Legacy 7 video.
Sure looks like push pins to me in the Mapping demo. There must be a way to
display the pins.

That list only changes the colors and size for me. Doesn't change it from
a balloon to a pin (even though the text says push pin, all I get are
balloons).
