Hi Rick,

Ah - that explains it - the offer to existing MyHeritage Subs ended 10
September - it wasn't long after they sent out the offer - I read it carefully
and made sure I responded in time.

Sorry you got caught with having to go the 'long way round'.

I did the same thing - I have been a MyHeritage customer for a few years - I
just called and they gave me the same offer with no new email or new name - as
Vivian said ‘it was easy and they were as nice as pie’.

Secondly, the price lock mention was in the email. It states

"PLUS: Those who subscribe before Sunday night, September 10, will enjoy a
Price-Lock Guarantee. For as long as you keep the subscription, the price will
remain 50% discounted and will never increase in the future. This is a unique

When you click on the link, it brings you to MyHeritage and the last sentence
on the second paragragh says very clearly that the price is locked.

Easy - basic economics.
The reason that My Heritage is making this special offer is to grow
their market. They already have subscribers, who, at least the vast majority,
don't need cossetting to remain. Exisiting customers are unlikely to put
themselves through the difficulty and time of creating new accounts.
The way for My Heritage to make more money is with new customers, not
giving money away via special deals to existing ones.

I love the Collection Catalogue - comprehensive but not overwhelming the way it
is presented - see by type of records or by location etc, number of records and
date they were added / updated.

In Australia we are spoilt with TROVE and the digitised newspapers but combined
with MyHeritage's superior search mechanism I've been getting fabulous results
for my people in country areas - newspapers that aren't on TROVE.

Family Search were so impressed with their the MyHeritage search that they
adopted it - part of the integration between the big sub sites.

AND to top that off, they are one of the very few who show their appreciation
to existing loyal customers - SAME offer for Legacy Users who weren't My
Heritage subscribers ... repeated for existing MyHeritage users - love it! A
bit like a loyalty rewards scheme.

[LegacyUG] How do I see a sample MyHeritage individual's website

2017-09-14 Thread DonnaMcR
MyHeritage says it offers all these perks to set up a nice family genealogy
website. Can anyone give me a link so I can see some samples of these sites?

Also, when someone syncs with your website, do they automatically take all the
information you’ve posted?

I still am not clear how MyHeritage enhances research more than Ancestry. I
looked in their catalog and didn’t come up with much for me, except some
censuses, which I already have.

Thanks---

Secondly, the price lock mention was in the email. It states

"PLUS: Those who subscribe before Sunday night, September 10, will enjoy a
Price-Lock Guarantee. For as long as you keep the subscription, the price
will remain 50% discounted and will never increase in the future. This is
a unique offer that MyHeritage is giving only to Legacy users and webinar
 viewers."

When you click on the link, it brings you to MyHeritage and the last
sentence on the second paragragh says very clearly that the price is
 locked.

2017-09-14 Thread Rick Koelz
I had to cancel my existing full access account in order to get the deal.

What a mess.

Re: [LegacyUG] Hello from MyHeritage + 2 unique offers

2017-09-14 Thread Dave Keeney
Just an FYI to current subscribers trying to get the deal. I was also able
to do it but it wasn't as easy as indicated.

When I called they told me that it was only for new subscribers. I
explained some of the messages on this board but he said there were only 10
reps and no one was giving the deal to existing users. That might be why
some people are saying they can't get the deal.

He then said he'd check with his manager. After a long wait he came back
saying he was able to do it. He apologized profusely and was able to get it
accomplished.

So just be warned that all of the reps may not know yet. So if at first you
don't succeed try, try, again.

It is, and the offer being discussed is one made to Legacy users by the
new ownership of Legacy Family Tree.

Originally when I first paid I was sent an email with below costing.

"You were charged US $119.83 (plus VAT), billed in AUD. The total was AU
$150.99".
Then by the time it hit my credit account, it was stated as $171.07.

Looks like many hands dipping into the pot along the way.
