Why? Because your media were stored under the C:\Legacy folder? Delete C:\Legacy

Well, I'm happy with V8, want to uninstall 7.5.

Since I had read previous posts about uninstall problems and the missing
install.log file, I first went to C:\Legacy and verified that I indeed did have
that file. Went to the Legacy folder on my start menu and found an entry for
Uninstall Legacy 7.5. Clicking on properties for this item, I found that it
would execute C:\Legacy\Unwise.exe /U C:\Legacy\Install.log.

Ran the selection, user account control asked for permission, said yes, then
the Unwise executed very quickly (about 1 sec), no message such as uninstall
completed, process finished or the like.

Went back to the start menu, Legacy 7.5 still there, clicked on it and
everything is still there and operational. Looked in C\Legacy, and everything
is there except the install.log file.

Tried to uninstall again, got message that install.log is missing.

Reinstalled 7.5 from website, it recreated install.log (saw that recommended in
previous posts)

Uninstalled again, same result. All I can get the uninstall to do is delete the
install.log file, nothing more.

I should say that my installation is the 'default installation' with everything
in C:\Legacy except that my data (family file, multimedia) resides in a
separate data partition.

Any ideas for next steps?

Paul,

Same thing happened to me. First I would check to see if you have the
install.log file in the Legacy folder. If you do, make a copy of it and
put it on your desktop for safe-keeping.

Next, go into the Legacy folder , find the file named unwise.exe and
double click it. Basically, you are ignoring the shortcut link inn the
Start menu and just executing it manually.

It will probably ask if you want to do a custom uninstall or an express
uninstall. Choose the express uninstall. (NOTE: can't remember the
wording exactly insofar as custom vs. express, but you will see what I
mean when the window comes up).

Let the express uninstall continue and when it finishes you should be
good to go.

Hope this helps.

Just deleting the Legacy folder from your hard drive (as someone
recommended) is probably not a good idea. That will get rid of the
Legacy files but leave a bunch of invalid entries in your Windows registry.

Dave,

Not sure this will apply to your situation, but I had similar trouble
with 7.5. and this might work.

Look in the program files for Install.log. If it's not there, try
re-installing 7.5 once more. Check again to see if install.log is among the
program files. You need this to get it uninstalled and each time you uninstall
it is deleted.

Now see if you can use Control Panel to uninstall, if it's there.

If this uninstall doesn't work; re-install again to get an install.log,
then go into the program and click on Unwise.exe. If you get options then to
do an Auto or Custom uninstall, choose custom. You'll get various options to
uninstall. If you hit all of them, you'll lose your unlocking number if it is
Deluxe and have to get it back from Legacy if you want to use 7.5 again.

A couple months ago, I got a new Windows 8 laptop. I installed Legacy 7.5
in the default directory and all worked well. Later I upgraded to Windows
8.1 when it became available. Still all worked fine. Now, I purchased
Legacy 8 and wanted to uninstall Legacy 7.5. But it doesn't appear in

install 7.5 over top of it. It then appears in the control panel so I can
uninstall. But after uninstalling, the Legacy 7.5 program icon is still
there and works fine when clicked.

Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?
