Just incase I haven't said it on list yet, next month (on the 22nd May,
accorind to iCal) we'll be going to State51 for a tech meet. This
decision was taken sometime last month and was based on the same reason we
move around from pub to pub - inevitably someone will not be able to
attend particular venues and it sucks to keep excluding them by repeatedly
using the same venue.

We previously had a box to enter our name. It was the sign in sheet on the security guard's desk at the Yahoo! building. You didn't have to do it in advance, which means that anyone who decided to come to the tech meeting on spec could do so. Now we have to be organised. Fortunately not very organised - lunchtime same day is no hardship. But it does require some organisational discipline. However, I think it's worthwhile considering that Yahoo! is an excellent venue. Why has nobody pointed out that it's just a BOX TO ENTER YOUR NAME? It took me
more time just now to cough! Christ, if people are going to bitch and moan about
something, let it be something that involves more than 0.8 seconds' typing
something that you don't even have to bloody remember. If it's not that, then
what possible reason can there be for it to be 'a pain'? The almighty effort
of following the URL to the form?

It's in everyones interest to make sure that we continue to enjoy the hospitality of Yahoo! as it's by far the most hospitable venue we have ever been lucky enough to be offered. These are availble in red, black, green, blue and brown and have names of
fictional Perl Mongers groups on them and have

written on them in perminant marker[1].
I think we've only got XXXL left however.

Faced with trying to organise a new venue in a short time or doing this, this seemed like the best idea. But no, I agree, it does make things awkward for future tech meets.
