So, totally and utterly unrelated, then?

Lusercop, wondering whether he has time to prepare a lightning talk on

"2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad" depends entirely on what you're doing.

Transporting my new desk from Neasden to Islington last night would
have been a right pain in the arse on any form of 2-wheeled transport.

As, for that matter, would be getting the 100-150 quids' worth of
booze we always seem to end up buying before we have a party.

Getting to work in the morning on a bike, on the other hand, is way
preferable to driving. Non-polluting, with no congestion charge and no
parking nightmare either.

I might go to HAL2001. If I'm going, I'm not sure whether I'm going to
Stockholm inbetween Y::E and HAL or if I'm staying in .nl...

Reminds me. I'll talk to Dougal.

Ah, just have. The marquee is about 15' by 20'. Only catch is some of
the poles are bloody long apparently. Must go and measure up the bulk
soon.

You probably need to talk to the HAL folks.

Well, there was one on the list of accommodation options Ann Barcomb posted
the yapc-europe list:

Gaasper Camping Amsterdam
Loosdrechtdreef 7
1108 AZ Amsterdam Zuidoost
Phone: +31 20 696 73 26

This camp ground is half a kilometer from the metro station 'Gaasperplas',
which is 3 stops away from the conference and 13 from Centraal Station.
It takes about 20 minutes to reach the center by metro.

No advance booking is possible, but I have looked at the campground and
it looks large. I was told that if they are near capacity, they are more
likely to let backpackers with tents in (rather than caravans).

The campground has a store, showers (1,50 per 5 minutes), a cafe
(12,50 for breakfast) and facilities for washing clothing.

The cost is 8,00 per person plus the cost of the tent (which you
must provide). A small two person tent is 8,75 and a large 3 or
more person tent is 10,75.

Cheers,
Philip

Well, I won't be. My company whinged a little even paying for a normal
single room (and I didn't feel like making up the difference), so no minibar
or modem connection for me.

Enjoy your executive rooms, though :)

thats ok philip, as a fellow resident of AC, i invite you too my room,
as a friend that is, nothing more, the sorts of emails that have been
flying around Y::E have got me worried - especially as this is holland
we are talking about, and we all know what AC means in Swinger terms! ;-)

mind you i'll probably buy a couple of bottles in duty free and never
touch my mini-bar, but i still could if i wanted too! unlike our
tented brethren, ... now where did i put my gold plated cat ;-)
