Hi! I'm working in a rather big document with loads of diagrams and equations. So far, lyx 1.0.3 has behaved brilliantly. However since my parallel port is dead, I want to export the whole document to a postscript file and print it somewhere else. This was no problem, but now dvips only exports up to page 14 in my document. The dvi still has 51 pages, and when invoked from the command line, it will report that it's gone through the 51 pages. However, ghostscript doesn't want to know about anything that goes over page 14. Does anyone know what's going on in here? I can supply you with the "offending" dvi file if you need it. PS output won't have all the pages
This kind of script will certainly kill/break/render a running LyX unusable. What about using find to only delete files that has not been modified/accessed for say 2 days? (or whatever) Lgb
double quote
Hello, I am using LyX for writing in French and in French typography, guillemets have to be preceded and followed by a small blank. The size and the protection of the blank is handled by B. Gaule's French package. How ever, I have to insert these blanks each time I insert a double quote. Is there in LyX a parameter that would do that for me ? (ie insert "« " instead of "«") regards, --Nabil

I seem to recall reading a month or more ago that LyX (or possibly LaTeX) already inserts a small blank space when « or » is used; check the mailing list archives for "guillemet" or, as it's called in the typesetting language, "guillemot". Landscape figures
Hi there! I'd like to insert a figure in landscape orientation (and the caption too), but I want the page-number in the normal position (at the bottom of an A4 page). I tried the landscape orientation in the layout document, but (obviously) the page-number goes in landscape too. Any suggest? Thank you in advance! Alex

Is Nabil> there in LyX a parameter that would do that for me ? (ie Nabil> insert "« " instead of "«") Hello, I've decided not to insert the blank automatically mainly because it is not done for :;!?, and it would be a bit strange to make a special case with quotes. However, if spacing is added by hand, I seem to remember that the algorithm which generates quotes has problems... So this is definitely something we want to investigate. Moreover, these things are handled differently by the various french packages; and other languages use these quotes, so we'd have to check how they do it. So, it seems there is some work to do it right, and I do not have much time to do it now. However, if a group of french users submits patches to improve french support, they'll be welcome :) JMarc

Ok, [leaving now to double-check...] That's funny -- the Width field only appears to be set if right-clicked just before the first "\parbox" command in cell (4,2). I foolishly thought that Table Layout has same properties everywhere throughout a cell... It looks like the Width isn't set for cell (3,2). Something like the following in your preamble should help > [not tested]: > > \usepackage{moreverb} > \renewcommand > \let\verbatiminclude\verbatimtabinput Ok, I tested it, by trying to use it with my LyX version 1.0.3, and it does not work. :( If I include this exactly as it appears above in my preamble, I get 6 LaTeX errors referring to undefined control sequences. I am guessing (though I know no (La)TeX) that something should be after the "renewcommand", as in every other instance where I've seen it used, a bunch of stuff in {} follows, but not here. Can someone tell me what's missing? I'd find this very useful for printing out my programming labs, among other things. :) (I won't even ask about algorithm floats; I'll just wait until their use makes it into the documentation! ;) I also tried a suggestion from Christopher Sawtell, that one use the following (with \usepackage{verbatim} in preamble) to include a file: \verbatiminput[tabstop]{} However, trying such things as "\verbatiminput[4]{/home/blah/file}" doesn't seem to do anything for me; this appears as \latex latex \backslash verbatiminput[4]{/home/rassilon/proj/csc234/craps.cc} ...and does nothing -- except that everything after "verbatiminput[" actually appears in the document. I am now quite confused, and am off to simpler pursuits, like learning gnuplot. ;) Any help appreciated, --- // Carl Hudkins ]=[ ICQ: 5723399 ]=[ PGP: 0x50238d9e // // "I've given up on the whole dating scene. Logos
