iTunes match on apple TV

2014-09-13 Thread Timothy J. Meloy
Hello All,
Last night I subscribed to iTunes match. I have turned it on successfully on
my iPhone and iPad. How do I enable iTunes match on my apple TV? Apple's web
site says that there is an area under music on the apple TV called iCloud
music, but I do not see it. My library is still being uploaded to iCloud.
Will that area under music not appear on the apple TV until the library has
finished uploading? Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
T.J.

William,
Yes, most definitely you can. I've done it. I don't remember at the moment how

RE: iTunes match queries

2014-05-21 Thread David Griffith
The short answer is yes.

You will then have the option to stream music or redownload it if you wish.

However you may need to alter settings if you want the ability to stream
over cellular networks rather than just wi-fi.
Certainly I found I had to do this before I could play content from the
cloud without a wi-fi connection available.

ITunes Match Driving me absolute nuts!

2013-12-15 Thread Christopher Gilland
OK, I am about two drinks away from saying ITunes match is a piece of sh**! I
am running the most recent version of IOS 7, and my ITunes running on OSX 10.9
Mavericks is totally 100% up to date as well. I’m using an IPhone 5, not a 5S
or 5C, just the original IPhone 5. Anyway, I had somewhere in the neighborhood
of about 4000 songs in my ITunes match. I removed every one of them from my
local Macintosh HD, as well as then going back and also removing them from my
Itunes Match ICloud. Mainly, I have these tracks all on physical CD media, so
I am not losing anything. I’m trying to revamp my library for the holidays and
basically only have my Christmas music imported. Thing is, it’s going to be
easier to do this over ITunes match, being that I have multiple IOS devices
plus, I have 3 mac computers: two macbooks, and one mac mini. Yes, they’re all
on Mavericks, and yes, they all are running the most recent version of ITunes.
Trust me, I’m not stupid, I did verify this very thoroughly. Remember, I’m
quite an advanced IOS and OSX user, so believe me, that was one of the very
bare first things I checked to be sure of. And yes, I ran software update on
all devices both OSX and IOS just to be sure. Trust me, everything’s totally
up to date.

Well, after deleting all my music both locally, and from the coud, I noticed
that though not on any of my mac computers, on both my IOS devices, my IPhone
5, and my IPad 4, I keep seeing this damn Kenny G track popping up which I
don’t even remember ever importing. It’s not showing up in my purchase
history, so undoubtedly, it’s something that got ripped from one of his CD’s
that Mom and I both own. I don’t really even like his stuff, so God knows how
it got there! Anyway, I deleted it from my IOS devices with a one finger flick
down whilst in the actions rotor. Once gone, I closed the music app from the
apps switcher, and then I reopened it and went to the artists tab. Instead of
seeing nothing was there, guess what! You guessed it partna. There came that
stupid Kenny G track down again! At this point, I’m saying something that
totally would get me banned from this list permanently if I said it or even
abbrieviated it. Trust me, it wasn’t what the hell! We’ll just say, change
the last word to something else. LOL! So, I look on my mac mini, which may I
remind you again, I’d deleted all music locally from, and also deleted
everything from ICloud originally from that system. I search locally, and also
in the cloud for Kenny G. Nothing at all pops up! Zilch! At this time, I’m
totally baffled! I look in the store menu of the menu bar under view my
account… and sure enough, it’s signed in with the correct apple ID, the same
one with the ITunes Match subscription. Just out of a hunch, I sign out, and
back in. I even went so far as to deauthorize my computer, then reauthorize it
again. I then, after doing so, went to the store menu, and to update ITunes
match. Once done, I closed the music app on my IPhone from the app switcher,
reopened it, double tapped on artists, and boom! There’s Kenny G again! I
think he wants to merry my IPhone! LOL, or stalk it if nothing else. At
anyrate, I’m going: I’ll be ** starred. So, I go back to the mac mini, and
search for Kenny G. It ain’t there! I look again on my phone, it’s there. I
update match again from the mini, then look at my phone. It’s still showing
up. OK, you think this is weird, you ain’t heard nothing! yet! Then, I go to
my macbook Pro. I pop open ITunes, delete the whole library locally, then turn
match on, only after doing so. It analyzes everything, sees nothing is locally
available to put in the cloud, then shows nothing in my library locally or
remotely. I for good measure go to the store menu then update match. Again,
nothing afterward shows up. So now, I’m thinking, good! Maybe that killed
that KG track. Nope? I go back to my phone? and, boom! There’s not only! now
that Kenny G track, but now it’s showing all 4 freaking thousand! of my tracks
I previously deleted from the cloud, yet, my macs show nothing! Not even the
Kenny G. So, on my phone, I sign out of Match, I sign out of ITunes sharing,
and, even more, I sign out of the ITunes Store. I then turn off ITunes Match,
and set show all music under settings, music, to off. I then closed music from
the app switcher, closed settings as well, and rebooted my phone. I don’t mean
the home/sleep keys, I mean I literally powered it off, waited about 30
seconds, then powered it back on. Oh by the way, no, before you ask, none of
my devices are jailbroken, and God kill me dead the day I think about doing so!
I’m sorry, but I highly! and I mean highyly! object to doing that, but that’s
for another post altogether. Anyway, after rebooting, I signed back into the
ITunes store, then I signed back into ITunes sharing, and finally, I then
turned on ITunes Match

An important thing to remember when using iTunes Match is that the CDDB
information for the music you import from your CD collection must match exactly
with that provided by iTunes Match, if it doesn't then all sorts of fun and

Also you may need to use the Update iTunes Match function on your devices
every now and then.

There's also a cache which may need to be cleared every so often after you've
signed out from iTunes match, at this point clear the cache in the Advanced
preferences of iTunes and add your computer to iTunes Match again.

Restore your phone to factory defaults. This might help, but I would make a
back up just in case both on the cloud and in iTunes If not call apple
care..

Good luck.

Yes, I think it updates itself from the Cloud and I should have been more
specific, you use the Update Itunes Match from your computer.

I don't know whether I'm just picky but I decided to use a computer here for my
main iTunes Match base for want of a better way of putting it, that's where all
my iTunes library is, its the first computer/device I added to iTunes Match and
its where the information comes from through the Cloud for all my other devices

An important thing to remember when using iTunes Match is that the CDDB
information for the music you import from your CD collection must match
exactly with that provided by iTunes Match, if it doesn't then all sorts of
fun and games can be expected.

Also you may need to use the Update iTunes Match function on your devices
 every now and then.

There's also a cache which may need to be cleared every so often after you've
signed out from iTunes match, at this point clear the cache in the Advanced
preferences of iTunes and add your computer to iTunes Match again.

2013-12-15 Thread Christopher Gilland
Dane, you might a actually hit on something here. I still think you did. I
looked a lot closer at things and I see that the artist isn’t Brad Paisley.
When I initially ripped the disc earlier, it told me multiple matches were
found. I was really stupid, and didn’t listen to the artist name. The first
result, which I picked, said Various Artists, not, Brad Paisley. Now, I feel
like an idiot! I deleted the disk both from ICloud, as well as locally, then I
popped the CD back in the drive. Now, it’s insisting on not bringing up the
multiple matches found dialog anymore. Yes, I reset all caches. Yes, I reset
all warning dialogs. Still, it’s refusing to pop that up again when I put the
CD in the drive. It’s defaulting to the one apparently that I picked earlier.
The weird thing though is, when I look in my track list table where it shows
all the tracks on the CD, the artist now is showing up as Brad Paisley, not as
Various Artists. yet, when I eject the CD from my drive, then I go under album
view in the music section, then search for “Paisley,” I see the album, and the
artwork was downloaded correctly, I barely have enough vision to see that, but
it still says Various artists. So now, I need to figure out how the heck to
reset the CDDB database, so I can then get that dialog to come back up, and
look at my options again way more thoroughly. I’m wonderring like you said, if
it being weirdly tagged with that one result may be my entire problem as far as
the Brad Paisley not showing up. Now, as for the other songs showing up, I
don’t have a clue! I turned off match both on my mac mini and on my phone, as
well as on my other two macbooks, and on my IPad, then one by one, turned them
back on. As I did, I now don’t see all that other crap, but BP still isn’t
showing. So, yeah, the only thing I can think at this point, is what you said,
that the thing isn’t getting correctly tagged, which does actually make sense,
being that it’s showing various artists for some reason. I’d be scared to edit
that manually in the get info dialog, as I honestly don’t know how the store
has it tagged exactlyh. But, Dane, let me ask you this, wouldn’t it be such
that if the track was! tagged where ITunes couldn’t naturally find it, that
it’s supposed to then upload it to your ICloud? I ask this, for two reasons.
One being, if that was the case, it didn’t do so. Two, if it had done that,
then, even though it’s tagged wrong, wouldn’t it still show up once it was
uploaded? O, K, it would show under Various Artists, not under Brad Paisley,
I’ll give ya that, but still! shouldn’t it hypothetically be there at that
point?

Desi,

Is this happening on your iOS device or on your Mac? Either way, I've never
seen dimmed tracks in iTunes Match. If it's on the mac, then maybe restart
iTunes and let it get its stuff together. If it's happening on iOS, then I
don't really know what to tell you other than to do the same, i.e. to reopen
the music app. If it's on your Apple TV, reboot the Apple TV itself. This may
be too drastic, but I don't really know what to make of your problem.

iTunes Match

2013-10-10 Thread Chris H

Good morning all.
In preparation for iTunes Radio coming to the UK by early 2014, I have
subscribed to iTunes Match to get an ad free experience. My question is
this.
When I signed up, I was asked to edit my payment details, since I had it
set to none. All was well and I was successfully subscribed.
I checked my e-mails this morning, and I got the receipt, but the
subscription came out of my store credit. This is slick, but why did
Apple need a valid credit card on file in the first place? Is this for
automatic renewals or something?

Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, it's automatic billing, plus, they do that for security reasons.
Having a valid card on file verifies that you are of legal concent age in
your given country according to its laws of jurisdiction.

Subject: iTunes Match

Good morning all.
In preparation for iTunes Radio coming to the UK by early 2014, I have
subscribed to iTunes Match to get an ad free experience. My question is
this.
When I signed up, I was asked to edit my payment details, since I had it
set to none. All was well and I was successfully subscribed.
I checked my e-mails this morning, and I got the receipt, but the
subscription came out of my store credit. This is slick, but why did Apple
need a valid credit card on file in the first place? Is this for automatic
renewals or something?

Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks!

iTunes Behaviour with iCloud and iTunes Match

2012-10-04 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi all

I am seeing some very frustrating behaviour in iTunes, and I wondered whether
anybody could shed any light on it.

I am trying to create a playlist in order to burn an album to CD. However,
every track in the album seems to be duplicated in the library. One entry says
Download, Button, and the second entry says something like New Upload. Can
anybody tell me what's going on here and why?

This really is frustrating me because I need to get this work done. Thanks for
any help.

Re: iTunes Behaviour with iCloud and iTunes Match

2012-10-04 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi

Yes, I figured that. But the point is why is it happening? My understanding
of iTunes Match (to which we subscribed), was that it simply checked your
iTunes Library against the iTunes Store, and uploaded the content to your iOS
devices if it was missing from them. I have no idea why the files are all
being duplicated.

Hi,
Well, the way to fix this is to delete the duplicated file and download the

Re: iTunes Behaviour with iCloud and iTunes Match

2012-10-04 Thread Gordon Smith
I think I've found the problem. There is a discrepancy in the iTunes library
folder structure. So I've decided to reorganise the entire music collection so
that it best suits iTunes. My only problem is that purchases will disappear if
I indiscriminately delete all music content. So I need to be careful. I need
to make sure I write everything vulnerable to another place and to CD first. I
have some really good news coming shortly regarding writing to CD which I am
sure will interest the group greatly.

Re: iTunes Match

2011-11-29 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

Here in Denmark, we are also often very late, it is only two months ago we got
books in the apple bookstore, and we have rather few, but there are a few
danish titles among that is surprising.

I am afraid that we will never get the itunes match here in Denmark. I think
the danish law is to restrictive. I would love Itunes match so it is a sad
thing.

Best regards Annie.

even here it's not the case. take as an example. iphone 4s pay and go with
O2. not available till new year or just after... why? apparently it's due to
 supply and demand.

oh well. I suppose that's just the way it is.

 happy macking lol

you're forgetting. Apple is based in the USA, so it has it's rights to launch
the product at first hand in the USA before shipping over the world. this is so
that if there are initial problems, then it can be dealt with. not only that,
but this is also a supported contractual agreement between apple and any other
3rd parties and support infrastructures.

I know that feeling only too well. It's like trying to get parts for the
FreeMacsForTheBlind project. acquiring them is one thing, but when they're
in the USA, that's something else.

it's like when someone produces a new piece of kit, we wait while it's in their
home country and others being trialed out and here we are at the end of the
chain. WAH WAH WAH! lol

Re: iTunes Match

2011-11-26 Thread Lewis Alexander
I agree on that one. Think about it, apple are international, so you'd think
that as a product or service rolls out, we'd all see a benefit of it. sadly
even here it's not the case. take as an example. iphone 4s pay and go with O2.
not available till new year or just after... why? apparently it's due to supply
and demand.

oh well. I suppose that's just the way it is.

happy macking lol
