Hi Kat, Am 27.03.2012 um 17:04 schrieb anakatsla...@gmail.com: hi there- macfuse mysteriously appeared on my macbook (i think the kid downloaded it with google chrome?) As far as I know MacFUSE has nothing to do with Chrome, but there are other products that need it. anyway, i'm following your instructions all the way up to replace 10 with 11, then i save and exit (it opened with xcode)...but then i'm lost at type wq...where am i supposed to do that? :wq is only needed if you use the command line editor vi to edit the uninstall script. :wq tells vi to save (write) the file and quit. The important thing is replacing 10 with 11 (or adding 11 for that matter) and then saving the file. Since the uninstall script is owned by root, you might be unable to save it after editing it, depending on the editor you use. That's why Michael suggests using vi in Terminal. Re: Can't Uninstall MacFUSE under Lion
Hello Jason, i'm glad you finally could get rid of it ! It would seem that your system still had some files cached somewhere, but maybe these files were from a commercial tuxera version, since NTFS-3G was the original open-source project and was never offered as a trial or limited version. Right now, I guess Paragon NTFS would be my primary choice for installing a read-write NTFS Driver for Lion. But I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacFUSE group. I did not realize there were still so many people having problem with MacFuse, so I was not actively following this group discussion. Jason, could you - launch the Console application that is found in the Utilities folder - clear all messages by clicking the icon in the toolbar of the Console - plug up an external hard drive and give us the message that appears ? Alternatively, you could start a terminal session and give the last lines of the file /var/log/system.log (cat /var/log/system.log) after you plugged the drive. The strange thing is that NTFS-3G/MacFuse have no trial period, could it be that you installed the commercial version ? (Tuxera-NTFS) Other messages posted here are quite old. Re: Can't Uninstall MacFUSE under Lion
Michael, i somehow seemed to get it off. i found a post where a user found every file and folder Macfuse got installed in and deleted each and every one. The following link is it http://groups.google.com/group/macfuse/browse_thread/thread/c798c621fd033c53 After i did that, initially i still received the error when i plugged up my hard drive. So i did a restart, that still didn't work, then i actually had to perform a shut down. Once the Mac booted back up, the error was gone, and i have yet to receive it again. I was just COMPLETELY surprised on how many different folders and files Macfuse and NTFS-3G were created, but yet it never showed up in my system preferences. I appreciate you getting back to me on this. Just for your knowledge, i just went ahead and bought Paragon. Seems to work so much easier. Damien, I went through that whole list and deleted everything that you listed. Hey Michael, I'm a total mac novice (borderline invalid). Are you able to explain to me exactly how to remove this program. I had no idea the trouble it would cause. Essentially, i've removed MacFUSE though the Systems preferance pane (and NTFS-3G) as i (Stupidly) though this was all i needed to do. Also, i've downloaded OSXFUSE which i read elsewhere woudl solve my problems. I''m so glad i left this until AFTER a major assignment was due, otherwise i'd be royally screwed right now. lol. Re: Can't Uninstall MacFUSE under Lion
Hi I installed MacFuse from google code, at got the system preferences icon telling me the program was not installed. I installed http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg so the system preferences program indicated that it was installed (not sure if it gave me write access though). However, pressing the uninstall button didn't do anything so i did what michael suggested in his post 26 august 12:17 (using nano instead of vi). Basically, sudo nano /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse- core.sh Ctrl+w to search for 10 (there are only one 10 in the file) press enter replace 10 with 11 Ctrl+x to exit, press y to save Then either run the script as he instructed or go to the system preferences icon and uninstall it that way Good luck!
