RE: a few questions about Iphone OS 3.1
Hi all, When in the mailbox on the iphone, there's an edit button to the far right, toward the top. If you activate this button, you can simply split tap any message you want to delete. Then at the bottom of the screen, you'll see a button that says "delete" followed by the number of messages selected for deletion. Split or double tap this button, then your messages are gone. a few questions about Iphone OS 3.1
Hi listers, I am currently using a new Ipod touch with voiceover, and I have several questions. First, in the mailbox, is there a way to delete messages without first clicking on each one? If I decide that I do not want the message based on the subject alone, how can I remove it? Second, and somewhat related, is there a way to select multiple messages at once and get rid of them at the same time? Finally, I have a question about Safari. Sometimes, when pages load, and I swipe down with two fingers to get to the next heading, not all headings are displayed on the page. In some rare instances, it only takes me to the first three headings, when I know there is more information on the page separated by further headers. For an example of this, go to www.engadget.com. Notice that even when you do a read all in safari, it somehow doesn't show the whole site, as doing a read all with the mac shows substantially more content. What's going on here? skype on the iphone
Is there a particular skype ap that's accessible? The one I downloaded is not as accessible as it might be, or I'm doing it wrong. It says I have three contact requests but no matter how I try and access what they are, it won't read them. Now it's reading a list of presumably the letters of the alphabet under which heading I might have contacts, so for instance it says A C D E F H L etc. but that's the extent of it. The other thing that's causing me problems is how to sync skype contacts between IPhone and Mac? I thought they would sync if you checked that box in the cell phone settings scroll area in ITunes, but it seems it only works one way, if at all. Any help would be appreciated. Re: Two Questions - VO reading unread messages and ability to skip past text
Hi James, If Keyboard Commander is on, the Unread Messages command is Option-U, using whichever Option key you selected. I believe you can do this from anywhere if mail is open. I always have to press control after using this command to get speech to work, and if that doesn't work, VO- F1 does the trick. I wish there was a Skip Text command and a command for going to the end of lists, but I don't think there is. However, depending on the site, moving to the next heading (VO-Command-H) or the next auto web spot (VO-Command-N) often does the trick. Re: Snow Leopard and mail preview pane
Try to do it with the physical mouse click by routing your mouse cursor to voiceover cursor with vo+command+f5. I think that is how I had switched the preview pane as it was driving me crazy. Re: sluggish composng of mail
Dear Christina, I haven't noticed any of the issues you mention. Have you repaired permissions after installing Snow Leopard? To repair permissions, go to application then utilities and open disk utility. You should find an option there udner maintenance. There are other programmes that can do it, like Onnyx but you may not have it. it's free-ware. Again, I'm not an IT expert but others may suggest something else. Re: navigation questions
Dear Christina, you shouldn't feel embarrassed about not knowing these things. It took me an inordinate amount of time to work the navigation in text shortcut keys. Somehow they didn't seem to register in my mind. I came to mac from Windows and Jaws two years ago but it took me a long time to learn the key combinations you are asking for. Here is what I can do and remember. Others will surely chip in. 1. To jump to the beginning and end of line, press control + left arrow and right arrow respectively. Voiceover will helpfully say the word which is at the beginning or end of line and remember that when voiceover has said the word, it has just passed it. It's very reliable and with time you will learn to trust it. 2. To jump to the top row and bottom row of a table once you are interacting with it, press vo+shift+left or right arrow respectively. I hope I'm not getting it wrong. I don't do it that often but I remember Esther had helped me with that one. So try it and if it is wrong, please ask the list again. 3. To jump to the beginning or end of a document either in TextEdit or in the body of a mail message with which you need to interact, press command+up arrow or down arrow. I've never successfully managed to find and execute a way of jumping up and down the document by page although others on the list have suggested key strokes for that. So I hope that someone else will provide those. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Simon On 16 Sep 2009, at 20:53, Christina wrote: > > Hi List, > > I've had my macbook for a year and a half. Hi List, I've had my macbook for a year and a half. However there are a few things I have not been able to figure out how to do. I'm kind of embarrassed because I'm sure they're simple. :) I would love it if someone can help me out. I've read the help pages but somehow I still cannot figure out a few navigations as my keyboard does not have home and end keys. sluggish composng of mail
Hello list, I've been experiencing sluggish typing while typing an e-mail. When I'm composing a message voiceover speaks very slowly. So, I don't know if it's actually typing slowly on the screen or if it's just voiceover speaking very sluggishly. It's weird because I have this sensation as though I'm typing in mud. This doesn't always occur while typing a new message. It definitely happens every time I reply to a message. It is very frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any ideas as to why this has been happening since I upgraded to SL? Re: reccomendation for menu planning software
I just took a look at my wife's copy of Yummy soup and it appears to be 90% accessible in Leopard. It has a drag and drop functionality, that allows you to drop web addresses from a cooking web site into the application and have the application automatically import the recipe. I did not try this as a blind user. It also does not appear to have a shopping list extension. There was a review of recipe management software in Tidbits about a year ago. Some of them did have shopping list managers either directly or as a plugin to the iPhone. Re: PeachPit press and training.
Hi Darcy and all, Regarding SafariBooksOnline, you have to call or write them and ask for 5008 compliant access. I just subscribed to them and they gave me the html-only access. Works pritty fine and all Apple training books are accessible. I also bought the book some time ago directly from Peach Pit Press and was very disappoint to find out that I spent $39 for nothing. Writing to them did not give anything, they said, that at most they could return me the book price, however finally they did not do even that. I found the way around, I was able to print from Adobe digital using Office image as a printer, then used the OCR program to convert image into text. Actually I got a pritty good text, however I definitely will not buy anything anymore from them. SafariBooksOnline actually contain all there titles and now it is accessible so I am fine. All the best. Igor. Darcy Burnard wrote: > Hi Jonathan. Personally I've not had much luck with Peach Pit Press > titles. I tried to get their apple script book. Hello Thuy and rest of ye folks. I don't see this as a big problem. It's great that those who pay gets some privilegues (or what it's called in english) :) This will also help the rest of the music industry to put more money into this concept.
