Hello,

I'm curious about playing Youtube videos with safari. Sometimes, a video will
let you see the controls for playback/volume, etc, and sometimes it won't. Does
anyone know why this is, and if there's a way to get it to constantly show them?
Any help would be appreciated.

Garage Band help

2013-03-16 Thread Katie Zodrow
Hi, everyone.
I listened to Ricardo's podcast about some basics for using Garage Band. I
think this was for version 6. I'm using Garage Band 11 with Mac
OS 10.6.8. I've already created a project, but I want to add some drum beats
from the Apple Loops into my song. When I'm in the window for the project,
Voiceover isn't speaking everything listed like for the arrange layout area. It
is just showing me the multiple time indicator ruler, time grid, the instrument
tracks with the scroll area and the lock time to play heads check box. I'm not
seeing anything else for the media or loop browser and Voiceover isn't
announcing
which area I'm currently in like for the arrange layout. How do I fix this
problem? Also can you navigate the loop browser and select what you're looking
for with Voiceover?
Thanks for your help.

I always leave those settings at the default which I think is compressed.
You should be ok.

Thanks Chris. It's doing it as we speak. Really helpful.
Does it matter whether you choose compressed or cd/dvd master? I've just
gone with compressed because I"m assuming it will uncompress it when I
re-burn the image onto another CD.

Then, to reburn the disc, put your blank disc in the drive, go to disc

made, and there you go.

How do you make a dmg image of a disk?

I saw the copy disk option in disk utility but not the create a dmg.

Well, there're several ways you can do this.

When you say it has to be exact, is this an OS installation or some
bootable disc? If so, you're best bet would be to make a dmg image of
the disc. Otherwise, your best bet probably is gonna be to copy the
content of the disc in your finder to your macintosh HD in a folder of
its own, then when you need to burn it again, just put in your blank
disc, navigate to the files/folders on your hard drive, copy them, then
go over to the blank disc in your finder, paste them in, then burn.

If you can be slightly more specific what you're copying it'll make it a
bit easier to tell you what to do. We don't need the specifics of what
the disc contains, as I totally understand that might be private, but at
least tell us is it just some word documents, pictures, html files,
software installations, an OS CD, or what.

Hi folks,
What's the best way to duplicate a cd (not audio) and place it on the
hard drive?
I want to be able to burn it to another CD in future, so it has to
remain exactly as is. It's not audio so I'm not asking about converting
to mp3.

Thanks.

Re: copying a disk

2013-03-16 Thread Lisette Wesseling
Thanks Chris. It's doing it as we speak. Really helpful.
Does it matter whether you choose compressed or cd/dvd master? I've just gone
with compressed because I"m assuming it will uncompress it when I re-burn the
image onto another CD.
Cheers
Lisette

Re: copying a disk

2013-03-16 Thread Chris Gilland
so, what you wanna then do is interact with the table that shows the list of
discs and volumes in your disk utility. Then highlight the disc with the
pictures. Once done, go up to the top and interact with your toolbar, and
go over to new image. It'll then ask where you want to save the dmg just
like a standard save dialog.

Then, to reburn the disc, put your blank disc in the drive, go to disc
utility, then in your toolbar, go to burn. Then browse to the dmg you
made, and there you go.

I want to be able to burn it to another CD in future, so it has to remain
exactly as is. It's not audio so I'm not asking about converting to mp3.
Thanks.

Book Mark in Safari

2013-03-16 Thread Jesus Garcia
Evening folks I forgotten how to remove a book mark and add another in
safari, I need to change the book mark button for bard since they
migrated the website, have ignored it and now it is starting to drive me
nuts. Also, is there a way to get a quick list of safari hot keys with
voice over?

Re: Track changes in pages.

2013-03-16 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Brandt,

You turn change tracking on in the Edit menu of Pages. For the changes to be
shown in a text box, go to the View menu and select Show Comments and Changes
Pane.

When you navigate in the document using the VO keys, you'll only see the
current text, but if you use just the arrow keys, you'll see the previous text
stuck to the new text. The previous text has no text attributes!

By stopping interacting with the page, then interacting once more, you'll hear
how many items are on the page. If there are more than 3, you have at least one
change.

You textbox is identified as track changes comment layout item. Interact with
this and navigating with the VO keys, you'll find the Accept change button, the
Reject change button and a dimmed textbox which VO will read as person's name,
at date and time, Replaced: the replaced word. There is then a deleted text
button.

As far as I can tell, there is no way of finding out what the text was replaced
with unless you go through the page character by character.

However, with a Braille display, you see the replaced text stuck to the new
text. So, with a combination of audio and Braille, it is possible to track
changes!

I hadn't tried with a Braille display before but it appears to be the answer.

Sorry for the ramble, but I was doing the tests while writing this message.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: rockbox on mac?

2013-03-16 Thread erik burggraaf
Make sure your player is supported. Download rockbox for your player. Go nuts.
It's 100% accessible and mostly usable unless they've recked it in the last
couple of releases. They're aware of voiceover and while they've never
bothered to make the utility accessible on windows, hopefully they won't go out
of their way to break the voiceover accessibility.

I'm looking for an equivalent key to the MacOSX key combo VO shift home or

currently I seem to be able to move only line by line through a large text

Re: Mail messages are in folder, but the text is not being read

2013-03-16 Thread Christine Grassman
Thank you, Esther -- turns out the problem resolved itself after my Internet
connection was restored. This is very odd, as these messages were days old and
had already been downloaded from the server. Not a single message's text was
displaying -- but when the Internet connection was restored, everything was
fine. Does anyone know why this might have occurred? I have had Internet
blackouts before, but my email folders were not impacted. Was it mere
coincidence? (Literally right after losing the connection, I lost the ability
to read my messages, and after it was restored, the text of my messages was
again readable.)

Hi!
I do not know if this is of any use but Nisus Writer Pro has Track changes as a

Never done anything like that!

Yes, VO+Space will let you edit. Then VO+Space is a toggle between taking you

Re: Track changes in pages.

2013-03-16 Thread Harry Hogue
Hello,

In my translation courses, my professor loves using this feature, as it permits
her to comment on small grammatical changes as well as comment on larger
structural changes to entire paragraphs, etc. I find it very difficult to
consistently find the changes in any kind of order, and I have no way of
knowing whether or not I have found all of them. Unfortunately, there also
appears no way to jump to a particular changed section. This is one of the
features that I truly wish they would make accessible to VoiceOver, and it
would come in so useful.

Thanks, and sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Re: Track changes in pages.

2013-03-16 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Brandt,

It's very difficult to track changes in Pages using VoiceOver. You can find
which page a change is on, and you can read what has been changed to what, but
you can't find where on the page it is.

This sounds weird, but the track changes appear in a separate item on the page
and the visual clue is not visible to VoiceOver. If someone absolutely has to
use this facility, then I really wouldn't recommend the Mac as it will only
lead to disappointment.

I've never had to do this but I tested it out for someone else, so I'm not
experienced in this field. It would be helpful if someone who's done this sort
of thing before could try it out, too.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Comparison between Braille support in Jaws for Windows and voiceover?

2013-03-16 Thread Teresa Cochran
I'd say that the biggest difference is that there's no clear concept of a
"Braille cursor" in OS X as there is with JFW. The Braille basically goes where
the VO cursor goes. This is ok with me, but it took awhile to get used to it.

Track changes in pages.

Hi there folks,

Someone asked me today, whether voiceover can detect and indicate track changes

If someone on this list however due, please let me know? This is the only thing

bluetooth keyboard commands for IOS devices

2013-03-16 Thread Phil Halton
are there any commands for moving to the top or bottom of a text field in an
IOS device?
I'm looking for an equivalent key to the MacOSX key combo VO shift home or end.
currently I seem to be able to move only line by line through a large text
area. moving by page, or moving to the top or bottom would be nice.

Hi all,

I haven't upgraded yet - is there any other way to enable the backspace key
besides using terminal?
Cheers,
Donna

backspace key in safari 6.0.3 in osx 10.8.3

2013-03-16 Thread William Windels
Hello,
I found a terminal command to re-enable the backspace key in safari but it
seems not to work.
I have:
1. closed safari,
2. pasted the following command in terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari
com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2BackspaceKeyNavigationEnabled
 -bool YES;
3. Opened safari and tested the backspace key by surfing on a page and go back
one age.

Any hints or known problems are very welcome

Kind regards,
William Windels

Sorry, It only works on a mac. The I Devices are too proprietary to allow for

When I last checked out Bootcamp, I noticed an entry in the Bootcamp Control
Panel to restart to Mac Os X.
So try that.
