Re: multiple recipients problem in mail

2015-03-09 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately this wouldn't work for me. I'm speaking of at least 150 people
and I have to sift through them and select the ones I need. These are not
people I know personally but rather on the larger mailing list.

Any ideas and suggestions still very welcome.

Take care,

Ioana

multiple recipients problem in mail

2015-03-09 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I have not used mac and mail much since Yosemite and can no longer send mail to
multiple recipients chosen from contacts.
I tried searching the archive but could not find anything so I’m sorry if this
has already been addressed but very grateful for your help.
I went to bcc and pressed the “add contacts” found the group of contacts I was
interested in and water to go through them and select some to add to the bcc
field. Multiple selection contiguous or not did not give any vo feedback and
even after just highlighting one contact, I found no way to actually add this
to the bcc field.

Am I missing something? Call apple accessibility and the adviser was also
stumped and said he’d get back to me this afternoon

Very frustrating since I need rather urgently to send out multiple mailings.

Thanks very much for your help!

manually managing content on iphone with itunes 12

Hello,

Since Yosemite and iTunes 12 I'm having trouble using the feature to manually

whole phone?
Sorry if this has already been covered but could not easily find anything about

smart groups in contacts broken or maybe my contacts corrupt?

2014-09-30 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I'm not usually using my mac lately but wanted to make use of the smart group
feature in contacts only to find out it's not working as it's supposed to.
If any of you could try this out and let me know if this is a bug or just some
problem with my particular setup 'd be very grateful. Feel free to reply on or
of list.
Here's the problem:
I am creating a smart group with all cards that are not contained in either of
2 groups. Yet somehow cards that are part of one or the other show up.
basically the exclusion criteria don't work for me.

Anyone know of a better contact manager for the mac?
Thanks very much for your help,

Question about shortcuts in new garageband

2014-03-29 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,
I have updated to new GarageBand and am missing some shorctcuts I was using a
lot.
Is there still a way to delete and move with some keyboard shortcut?
I used ctrl delete I think but now nothing works but going to edit menu and
selecting that option.

Also, what's a good way to move to begining or end of a region? I looked
through the table of keyboard shortcuts with no luck.

Thanks for your help.

Quandery with keyboard layout

2014-01-06 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I have a problem with my keyboard, I think since updating to mavericks, in any
case I just saw it now.

I have the input source set to US so the key next tho the semicolon should be
apostrophe. In fact, when I press it in the keyboard help environment it is
announced by VO as apostrophe.
However, in a mail message, I am using it ant it is announced as single
quotation mark.

What am I missing here?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am using multilink from IOgear.

2013-04-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Thanks Chriss and Danny.

I will check out the list and check out the myc options I wish I could find a
place where I can test them and make up my mind.

THanks also for the compliment about the audio on my page.

THe samples are from my cd and I'm afraid this will be rather hard to
reproduce. I was in an amazing chapel in Cologne Germany recording with 2
Neuman microphones.

For my youtube videos so far I had a friend sync the audio with the video on a
pc.
A bit daunting but hope to make this work and post new videos more regularly.

Re: VoiceOver: Using VoiceOver on a Mac without a display attached may cause applications to be slow or unresponsive

2013-04-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I was using a ntsc adaptor. Now I connected it to our tv via HDMI and find the
Mac mini mid 2010 very slow. I tried plugging in the adaptor at the same time
but it was messing up the resolution for the HDMI.
Will still see if I by any chance have a problem with some app.
When I get to unplugging it from tv and using it with old ntsc I will let you
know if it goes faster.
BTW I use Mountain-lion.
Best,

Ioana

best way to produce high quality sounding youtube video

2013-04-17 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I am cross posting this to both lists since my question is relevant I think for
both iphone and mac.

I would like to post youtube videos of me playing classical guitar on a regular
basis. I am supposing the iphone camera will do for the video. What is the way
you sound experts would recommend for me to record audio hq?
I am mainly trying to decide if I record on the mac and then try to sync audio
with the track of the movie made on iphone?
Or can I use a good mic that works with the iphone 5 and maybe add reverb or
other minimal processing on computer later or even in garageband in iphone?

Hope my question makes sense.

Thanks for any pointers and suggestions!

Question about downloading one update for multiple computers

2013-02-08 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Greetings,

I am unlimited data plan and have two Mac Minis with Mountain lion. How can I
download the software updates so that I can then install them on the other
computer without re-downloading them? I know for example that for the iPhone
this is possible. Can you do something similar for the Mac?

Thank you very much!

All the best,

Ioana

Any hints?
I guess I will also write them directly. They have a VO compatibility mode but
no keyboard shortcuts for many functions I found not available otherwise.

YOu could go to tack info group and interact and see the tracks there. I don't
know of any fast way to see what is on each unless you would press s to solo
each track and press space for play. Solo mutes all other ones.

Seting or checking project length in garageband question

2012-12-20 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

How can I check the project length and change it if necessary before sharing to
itunes?
Also, is there a quick way to find out where the play head is? I could go to
lcd and interact with time line group but seams awkward.

Thans,

Ioana

Re: My procedure for recording tapes with garageband into itunes

2012-12-20 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
That would work too, but you have to change project length each time to fit the
length of the newly created track. It seems like this would involve more steps.

If you interact with region in layout area first thing is a button to rename.

My procedure for recording tapes with garageband into itunes

2012-12-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Here's a quick overview of how I got my tapes into iTunes. I should say it is
an on-going process as we speak.

I am no expert about setting levels etc so I will not go into details. I have a
tape recorder with line out and I connected it in mic port of my mac mini mid
2010. My husband checked levels to not go into red and adjusted recording
level. In fact here I am a bit confused about finding the best way of doing
this between recording level and master track volume , etc. Any good pointers
about setting this optimally will be appreciated.

1. I open project and select real instrument track.
2.I changed lcd display to time rather than seconds.
3. I used head-phones with monitor on option in track info group so I could
hear what I am doing. If you know your tape you could just put monitor off and
leave it going and be sure you are there to stop.
4. If it is a music track you could listen as it is recording and stop and
re-start recording between tracks. This will create regions on the track.
5. The challenge is how to import this to iTunes so each region is a track.
5.1 In arrange layout area, interact with time line group and finally with
instrument track scroll area and select the region you want to import as a
track.
5.2 Note start and end time. I always work with the first one so start time is
0:0:0.
5.3 Press c to turn on cycle region.
5.4 In timeline group interact with multiple indicators ruler timeline (it is
the first item).
5.5 Here the last item should be a cycle layout item or something of the sort.
YOu have to resize it by pressing VO shift command accent and make sure start
and end match those of your region for the track. No need to be super precise
with milliseconds since we are talking about blank space between songs.
5.6 Press escape when done resizing.
6. Finally with the desired region selected go to share menu and import song
to iTunes. It will only bring in the cycled region.
7. (Optional) Personally I find I like to delete the region from the project
once it is safely in iTunes to avoid confusion. SO I select the region and
press control delete this moves the other region back to fill space. So for ex
region 2 will now be moved to beginning of song.
8. repeat steps 5.x for subsequent regions.
I know, not very easy I guess that's where Amadeus might make things easier. If
anyone knows how to auto split track detecting silence in garageband it would
be cool.
Hope this helps someone.

Best,

Ioana

player controls?

I seem to remember that there are some plugins for safari to improve

I am listening to radio program that requires flash and other than closing the

audio track. Any solutions?

Also, I know I have installed some kind of plugins but do not remember which.
How can I see what I have installed? Thanks,

2. Select them with either contiguous or non-contiguous method and press
command c to copy.
3. Go back to sources and select your i device.

Re: a note on running a Mini with no monitor

2012-11-25 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
IF you can get a terminal plug or a vga to avi adaptor tat tricks the mac into
thinking there is something attached as a monitor, the mac mini will run fine
with no performance difference.

Help with best way to get windows 8 on my mac mini

2012-11-23 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Could anyone tell me if they have successfully installed windows 8 on their
macs if I have to get the dvd version or if I can just use the upgrade and
create my own install dvd with an iso file? It seams to make sense price wise
to go for online upgrade and create the windows 8 install if this works.

Thanks,

Anything shared library

2012-11-14 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello,

I would like to edit the information in the shared library in iTunes. I use
home sharing. Is this possible? Would it work better if it was shared library
not using home sharing?

Thanks for helping out.

Re: without passing through router?

2012-11-11 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Thanks for all your support,
As we speak the backup is going slowly but surely.
Could anyone of you experts suggest a course of action to try to attempt the
wired connection with a cable without passing through router? At the moment I
have the ethernet connected to both macs without a router but I have a feeling
that the network is still happening over wifi.

It is very slow for now. 2 days for 125 gigs.

Thanks again,

Ioana

Re: question about hotspots

2012-11-06 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi Anne,

This is kind of my experience. However I find that, if I create activities fr
apps they remember the hotspots. They might not remember wether to monitor or
not but the actual place is remembered as long as it has data in it. For
example, in itunes I have hotspots in the lcd section to monitor progress of
sync of iphone and this works pretty well.

Please help with extracting audio from AVI file

Hi all,

I have a .avi file and would like to just extract the audio part.
I tried opening it in Amadeus light or in garage band and get an error that

but don't quite understand how it works. Even if I did though I am not sure
what encoding settings to choose to be able to extract audio.

Re: question about hotspots

2012-11-05 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi Anne,

Did I understand correctly that for you hotspots are remembered within the
application? I find on my mac that, if I set a hotspot in one app and then
change apps, it returns me to the first app. To have 10 hotspots in each app I
have to save them in activities.

Thanks for clarifying this for me.

Best,

Ioana

without passing through router?

Hi,

Just wondering if it is possible to connect 2 macs on a wired network directly
with a cable. THe router is very far away from both to be close to the dsl plug

If it is indeed possible, how do I make sure the connection works and is it
slower than passing through a router?

Re: Need help with time machine on network.

2012-11-04 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello,

Are you saying that it is better to connect to the router rather than
connecting the cable directly between the two computers? Do you by any chance
know why that would be ? I just would like to understand this whole process
better.

Thank you for your help,

Need help with time machine on network.

2012-11-03 Thread Ioana Gandrabur

Hello,
I want to use a backup drive connected to one of my Mac mini mid 2010 via usb
as a shared drive for the other Mac for it's time machine. I connected the two
computers with an ethernet cable, not via a router but directly. I set the
drive up successfully for the second computer but the backup is very slow. For
z212 gigs it said it will take 12 days. Is this normal? What is the best way to
create a wired network for this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi a time ago I asked about a way to find codec info of a video file.

Videospec is not accessible completely but the developer was very responsive to
consider changing in future.
He also pointed out you can save the info about a file in a text log. Tis way I
can access all the info about the file.

HI,

After connecting the display go to VO utility with VO F8 and choose Braille in
the utility category.
GO to the Display tab and choose assign commands.
Here you will see a table wit all assigned commands. Here you can also add your

Here is the Braille help topic in the VO User guide.

multiple contacts from mail cc:

2012-10-28 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I spent a horrible amount of time manually adding 130 contacts from the cc of
an email I received. In windows there is a feature where you can add everyone
on list to contacts. Anything similar on

mac?

Thanks,

Ioana

Do any of you have any information about how well windows eight will work with

I would like to take advantage of the pre-order price for windows eight to get

setings in gmail and mac and iPhone

2012-10-24 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

I am cross posting this since this question concerns both devices mac and
iPhone.

For any of you using gmail IMap , how are you saving your drafts? In other
words:
1. When creating a draft on the mac is it saved on the gmail server and if so
is this the same location as where the iPhone stores the drafts?
I mean how is the setting in mail prefs, accounts / mailbox behaviors set for
drafts (save on server checked or not?)
HOw is the iphone mailbox behavior for the gmail account?
I would like to achieve the following behavior:

I would like to have both iPhone and mac save drafts on the imap gmail server
so that they are synced and I can access them from both ipphone and mac in the
same location.

Any help is appreciated.

Best,
Ioana

Accessible way to find out the codec information of a video file questions

2012-10-20 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hello everyone

is there a way to find out codec information For a videophile that is
accessible? I Found a program called "video spec" and it is great but it's not
accessible as far as I can see. In windows there was something called G spot
that would do this.

Any help is very appreciated.

Re: Trouble Interacting with the HTML Area in Messages

2012-09-29 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
I experienced this inability to interact also. Haven't used it much lately but
think I have resolved the issue.

I had set up a messages activity to turn off cursor tracking like it was
recommended by the user guide. I deleted it and now use normal default cursor
tracking options and it appears to have solved the issue with interacting with
the html.
Best.

Skiping empty fields in contacts found a sollution

2012-09-24 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Someone wondered a while ago about how to avoid flicking through all fields in
a contact and viewing only the ones containing data. I accidentally deleted it
so cannot reply directly to it.
Here's how to do it.
After selecting a contact in the name table VO left to the contact information
group. Interact and VO right to the "contact information scroll area". Interact
here and you will only find completed entries.
If you do want to open card in new window with command i or to edit it with
command l you will see all fields so you can quickly find what you want with
item chooser. YOu can also customize the template of fields shown by default in
a card. Go to contact preferences and select the template tab.

Re: removing preview pane

Hi,

May I offer an alternate method that works in ML but didn't work in Lion.
In the old instructions after vo to the vertical splitter and routing mouse to
it you do not have to perform the physical click (at least not I). I performed
VO Shift space twice rapidly. VO announces "collapsed". IF you stop interacting
with the splitter and vo right you should reach the horizontal one and preview
should be gone.

Re: Ripping audio tracks from video files

2012-09-23 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
I managed to do this in garageband but I suppose there are a bit more straight
forward apps but since this was already installed on the mac I went for it.

Basically you paste in the file and then in the track list you have a video and
an audio file. You delete the video one and then you can save your project.

Can't give more detailed instructions since I don't remember all the steps.
Could try to redo this some time but maybe you'll find better help on the list.

Re: solved sharing reminders. cool

2012-09-22 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
HI,
GO to reminders app:
1. Find the table containing reminder lists.
(I assume you have several and don't know how it behaves if there is only the
default reminder list).
2. Interact with table of reminder lists.
3.Find the list you want to share by VO arrowing or flicking or whatever.
4. Interact again. You should land on an edit field allowing you to rename the
list.
5. VO right and find an unlabeled button.
6. Activate it and there will be a popover sound and you can share the list
with someone else with an iCloud account using ml or ios6.
I actually labeled this button to "share".

Best,

solved sharing reminders. cool

2012-09-21 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
HI,

Found how to do this. Interacting with reminder list tables then with the
actual list where you could rename it or VO right to unlabled button that opens
sharing preferences for the list.
Pretty neet feature for shared checklists.

Labeling photos tips

2012-09-18 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi all,

I am posting to macvisionaries and viphone since this question might concern
both.

Did a search on viphone archives and read about photovoice to add audio labels
to your pictures on iphone. IS there an other way to do this so you change the
actual name of the photo in your camera role? I tried renaming a picture in
iphoto on mac but it still showed up on phone with useless img X name.
Assuming I would use photovoice to audio-label, how can I ultimately change
actual photo names?

I use mac with ML and iphone.

Thanks

Re: Caps Lock to VO, KeyRemap4Macbook update

2012-09-09 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
Hi,

Thanks so much for the procedure. IT worked perfectly for me.
I would point out 2 things I had problems with.
1. On the download page I could not download the 8.0 PCKeyboard hack without
sighted assistance. FOr some reason clicking on the link downloaded the 7.x.
2. In the PCKeyboard hack preferences changing 51 to 110 worked but one has to
check the checkbox to enable the changing of caps lock. Pretty obvious but
thought I'd point it out.

Amazing improvement!

Hi,
However this will not work in the changes made on the fly with VO command left

utility and interact with the sliders there or actually write the desired value
for the setting.

Hope this made sense.

I tried to read through an email with my Brailliant 40 and I found that the

Did anyone notice something similar? IS this a bug or is there a tracking
