paypal on a Mac
the last couple times I tried to use Paypal on my Mac it showed me this message that said I didn’t have to log in because my device was recognized. then I couldn’t navigate at all. that was the only thing on the screen acording to vo. I know they prefer that we use the app and I often do but this happens when I’m on a site on my computer where I want to buy something. has anybody else had this experience? I tried to find the place in settings to un-do that setting where I didn’t have to log in thinking that might solve the problem but I couldn’t find it. suggestions. thanks. Re: PayPal on Mac safari
Maybe you have a small message window open related to paypal. There should be an keyboard command or two for open small windows. This is a moment where it could be good to have keyboard commands on a number keyboard e.g. Keyboard commands you usually do not use so often, therefore you may want to put them on theese number keys, then you hold down vo or what have you, and try hitting 1,2,3,4 etc and see if something happens. Sometimes it works sometimes it dos not work. Many thanks man. 1. mai 2023 kl. 02:23 skrev Brad Snyder : > I’ve never had a problem using Safari on my Mac with PayPal. > Try using VO + CMD + J, to locate the submit payment button. > If Safari keeps giving you problems, try using google Chrome to access > PayPal. > > HTH. > > - Brad - > > > > On Apr 30, 2023, at 13:12, Herbie Allen wrote: > > I find the app easier and a simpler layout. > > On Apr 30, 2023, at 12:21, Phil Halton wrote: > > What the heck is wrong with PayPal using Safari on the Mac? I’ve never had a problem using Safari on my Mac with PayPal. Try using VO + CMD + J, to locate the submit payment button. Hi there, Regardless of what solution you may discover, please please please report moments like this to Paypal. 1-888-221-1161. Speaking personally, you help those who, although perhaps sharing a label with you, do not embody the disability experience as you do. Paypal cannot fix what is not shared, and the platform should work equally, across tools. Hello everyone, this is why I stopped using this service. Issues like this. Your message, situation. That you described earlier on this list sounds like an extreme phishing attempt. Not answer reply or do anything with a message that you don’t know, or you’re not working with anyone closely. What I would do, just write down the apparent fraudulent email message and or copy it. Lead it. Then report it to the proper authorities. I would certainly not reply to any message like this. All they want is your information. Don’t give it to them. And if you continue to get messages from what were the says that you’re not expecting block realm. And again report it to the appropriate authorities. Just want to sense worth. Re: paypal revisited.
Two supervisors in the past week claimed paypal has no accessibility policy..at all. three staff members, two of them supervisors walked the through, but cannot someone help you? over and over again. To be sure, I doubt they are actually in Canada, but still. And the one supervisor who thought they could find an accessibility email address, found one, but it blocks incoming mail. Varifying my PayPal account via the Apple App Store.
For the last year or so, I’ve had all my subscriptions I’ve been billed for go through PayPal. However, I ended up with a mysterious charge about a month ago that had a blank receipt go through that I reported to Apple/Paypal, which PayPal refunded me for. However, sense then, Apple has apparently now blocked all access to my PayPal account, and is now asking me to verify the account, but I’m seeing no way to do this within the App Store, and simply logging into my account seems to do nothing. I’ve gone into settings, and under my name tried to reactivate one of my subscriptions, thinking that would work, and just end up back at square 1, so I’m not sure how else I’m expected to verify the account, and going to apple.com/bill <http://apple.com/bill>, then to reportaproblem.apple.com <http://reportaproblem.apple.com/>, doesn’t seem to take me anywhere that allows me to verify the account either. Re: What has happened to the PayPal mobile app?
Hi, I don’t know if this could be why, but do you have the screen recognition feature turned on for PayPal? If it is try turning it off. There is an option under voiceover settings called voiceover recognition. If you go in there you can see if screen recognition is on and if you click on that, it will show you for which apps it’s on. I just deleted and re-downloaded the PayPal app with the same result, no send or request buttons anywhere. Actually occasionally using the item chooser, I can find the send button but It is buggy and unreliable. when I click that send button it sends me into the scan section of the app where I can use the camera to scan something, So obviously that is screwed up and not what I want. upon entering the app I get at the top three buttons, notifications, profile, and settings. That is followed up by a sales pitch for the PayPal cash, then some cash rewards from my Discover card then most recent activity. after the most recent activity is a pitch to make donations to charitable organizations. Hi, I have not seen this problem. Did you try swiping up to see if there was a dismiss or close button? Problem sending money with PayPal app
Sent from my IPhone Sending money with the PayPal app, I got to the final send screen and tapped “send money“. Well, the screen seem to freeze up, with the “send money “button selected but nothing seemed to happen. I tried shutting off voiceover and tapping it with no joy. Even the back button was dimmed. I couldn’t leave the screen nor send the money. I finally closed out the iOS app and sent the money via the Mac. RE: PayPal question
Laura, Please please tell Paypal that you are having this problem, even if someone gives you a solution. Reasoning is because there was an intensive discussion on the w3c main list, the people who draft web access guidelines for the internet. In many ways paypal is violating these rules. Just because an individual claims it works for them does not mean it applies to anyone else. Although paypal has a program manager for accessibility, she has no direct contact with customers. Meaning paypal has no idea anyone is having a problem unless the problem is reported. I know their transform setup changed recently. Call them, 1-888-221-1161, ask for a supervisor, and tell them. Otherwise those who do not have access to lists like this may never get a solution. Thanks, Karen On Sat, 13 May 2017, myguidedo...@gmail.com wrote: My clients pay me through money transfer. RE: PayPal question
My clients pay me through money transfer. All they need to do is give you the password to access the money and you do the rest. You get a notice from money transfer that has sent you money, then all you do is click on the link, enter the needed info such as your bank institution, account #, then enter the password the client gives you to get paid. But, some also are using paypal to send money so, this post is good info if I ever need it. Yes, I do have the pay pal app on my IPhone. -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Kawal Gucukoglu Sent: Saturday, May 13, 2017 12:33 PM To: Macvisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> Subject: Re: PayPal question Hi Laura. PayPal digital gift store
Hello, I usually use the PayPal digital gift store to purchase iTunes gift codes, however, I’m having a hard time with the website today. For some reason I cannot get past the shopping cart page. Actually, even though the webpage title says it is the shopping cart, I cannot locate anything inside the page to tell me so, nor can I find a log in or sign in link/button. This isn’t typical behavior. I’ve tried on both Safari and Chrome. Any suggestions? Thanks, Traci -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Hi Mark, This sounds great, Just wondering though if this prepaid card is a paypal service or is a bank related service? I'm just wondering if it's available worldwide or only in the USA? It would be a great product to have available to my pay pal account. Cheers, Simon f -Original Message- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of M. Taylor Sent: Thursday, 9 June 2016 7:28 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Some Info on The PayPal PrePaid Mastercard App for iOS Hello Everyone, I am cross-posting this to let you know that the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard App for iOS is more than reasonably VoiceOver accessible. There are two VoiceOver bugs that are immediately obvious. 1. The primary menu button, located in the upper left corner of the display, is not labeled; it just reads as, "button." 2. It is sometimes necessary to perform a single-finger, double-tap and hold gesture in order to activate items labeled as links. Other than these two items, all of the information one needs, in order to conveniently manage the card account, is accessible. I have submitted a bug report to the developer and, hopefully, these bugs will be addressed in future releases. Please note that I am referring only to the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard and not to the PayPal Debit card. Just in case some are wondering, the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard is a secured debit card. This is to say, one must load money onto the card, either online or at a local market, such as 7 Eleven in order to use it. There are several reasons for using such a card. Some use these kinds of cards because they either have no established credit line or bank account or have a very bad credit history which prevents them from obtaining a traditional revolving credit card account. It should be noted, however, that prepaid cards will not, unless explicitly stated in the terms of use agreement, help either establish or improve one's credit score. Another reason, which is why I have one, is because one does not want to give an untrusted vendor access to a revolving credit line or bank account, such as would be the case if one were to use a standard debit or credit card. As a scenario as to why one may consider using a prepaid card, and this has happened to me in the distant past, a vendor was only supposed to charge me a fee, once. However, the vendor began billing me monthly. While I eventually received a refund for the unauthorized charges, I had to both file a credit dispute and cancel the account. The real inconvenience came when I found myself having to update several trusted online vendors with the new credit card number. Remember, a prepaid card can only be charged up to the amount loaded on the account. So, in the above scenario, assuming that I had funded the card only up to the amount that I was to pay the vendor, subsequent billing attempts would have been denied. Assuming that I had received notifications of the failed attempts, I could have investigated the problem, before money was taken. Even in the event that subsequent unauthorized charges had gone through, however, I could have cancelled the card without having to update all of my online accounts, assuming that I had not used the prepaid card for them. You should know that while there are no interest charges associated with prepaid cards, there are, however, associated fees that, depending on the brand of the card, can make using the card unreasonably expensive. The prepaid card market has exploded in recent years; so much so that even major banks such as Chase are offering such accounts. If you are considering a prepaid card, be sure to shop around and make certain that you thoroughly understand the fees associated with using the card. Just so there is no confusion, I am, in no way, promoting/recommending prepaids cards to anyone. I am merely providing feedback on the current VoiceOver accessibility of the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard App, for iOS and describing a scenario in which the outcome would have been different if such an instrument had been used. Tabbing passes it up. Absolutely nothing allows me to click my payment option. When I click continue I am told that I don't have enough balance in my paypal account (which of course I don't!) and am asked to choose a payment option - as if that isn't what I've been trying to do! I’m going to jump in and offer a piece of prudent advice. I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable computer user. However, when it comes to entering financial transactions online, I would much prefer to have a sighted person assist or review what I am attempting to do before hitting the submit button. Never assume that the screen reader is showing you all the pertinent information. Chris -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: Problem with paying paypal credit
Your advice is appreciated but if i did that (1) a sighted person would know business I don't need him/her to know and I might as well just go back to having a reader go through my mail and do my checks; and (2) I would never get things done because I usually don't have a sighted person around. I have been doing my own transactions online without the confirmation of a sighted person for over ten years - in fact, I do almost all my financial transactions that way - and have never made a mistake doing it. In fact, my screen reader has indeed been up to the task as long as I checked everything carefully, be it a Windows, linux or Mac screenreader. However, I do understand that mistakes can be made and information may not show up correctly in some instances and I don't blame or belittle people who wish to use such precautions. However, for me, to do transactions online would be totally pointless if I had to have a sighted person okay my decisions for me. Sorry, I know this does sound impatient with your view; it's not that I don't respect it; I just know that for me it would put an end to my use of online systems if I followed this advice. But I commend those who can do this and feel they need to do so for their caution and wisdom and patience in waiting for sighted help to do these things; if you have doubts as to your ability or feel you need more practice first or for some reason don't trust your screenreader or a particular sight, this is indeed a good idea. But I will have to say that I do not think this is a risky thing for a blind person with experience to do in most cases. -- Cheryl Go beyond the Christmas story this year; meet Immanuel (God with us), Jesus, the crucified Savior, Christ, the risen LORD!!! Re: Problem with paying paypal credit
Hi, Ray, I am also having trouble with paypal and they keep telling me there is a problem with my account and I already changed my password in response to their email once. When I called the number you gave Cheryl, I was asked to take a survey about vacations even though I declined the cruise. After I did that, i got a busy signal and then the phone disconnected. I tried the number again to make sure I dialed right and got the same recording about the cruise. I called toll-free direct but they had no other numbers for Paypal. Thank you. I finally got it paid with the paypal app but it wasn't really better. what I finally had to do was first click the link that said something like How do you want to pay? Re: pdf, captcha, eba/paypal, and access.
My usual rules of thumb for CAPTCHA which work at Internet scale are: 1. Algorithmically generated puzzles which are hard for algorithms to solve (one-way transforms) Likewise, puzzles which are reasonably possible for real people to solve 2. Puzzles which do not require localization 3. Puzzles which are not susceptible to brute force attacks (high random success rates) That said, it should be obvious that swirled character image captchas will not work for those with vision impairments but this is easily remedied with an audio version. Audio and image recognition are pretty much the two areas that algorithms have trouble with. Common solution is multiple people speaking on top of each other. Hard for algorithms to crack but not impossible for real people. Playback using Sound Manager 2 http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/ does the heavy lifting to select native html5 or flash for the audio and do it in a way that works for all browsers. Other than that they just have to make sure that the audio play button is easily found in the tab order and, once pressed, moves focus to the text input. Not much else needed beyond that. So you're asking about people who have both audio and vision impairment? Re: pdf, captcha, eba/paypal, and access.
Karon, I have found that most PDF files are not readable using voiceover in OS X. this doesn't mean all of them are inaccessible, but it appears that a vast majority are imported graphic files in a container. as for captchas, I find them nearly impossible to solve, and some sites that have audio captchas, the audio will not play under safari and some others are severely distorted. couple this with the fact that mozilla firefox isn't accessible using voiceover, that certain captcha solving plugins are also inaccessible (and no such plugins are available for safari that I know of). since I am not a windows user, nor do I wish to spend large sums of money to do so, I am not inclined to use microsoft based products. This means that I am also limited in how I do some things on the net (especially where visually based security is concerned. -eric On Nov 8, 2011, at 4:57 PM, Karen Lewellen wrote: Hi folks, For reasons that are complicated to explain I have the ear of the legal department at paypal -ebay. If you've got one I'm all ears :) I've reviewed a number of them from various research centers and they all fall down in one of the three areas I mentioned. Re: pdf, captcha, eba/paypal, and access.
Yes, this can be a hard one as computers can't think to do something different to protect against harvesting the questions. I think the thing that will end up working is some out of band means of generating one time codes. Many of the sites you would have captchas on have you make an account where such could be registered the first time. The Yubikey from http://www.yubico.com is a good example of one anyone on a computer could use. You plug it into a USB port, find the field on a website that requests it and push inside the easily felt area and it acts like a keyboard to fill the box with a code. - Original Message - From: Chris Blouch cblo...@aol.com To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, November 09, 2011 4:10 PM Subject: Re: pdf, captcha, eba/paypal, and access. Re: pdf, captcha, eba/paypal, and access.
Yup, but for the jillions of free services they will not want to support something that requires potential users to buy a piece of hardware (or provide it themselves). In theory the captcha stuff should only come up to create credentials on a site and then the point of pain is over. So even if it takes 2-3 tries it's still better than requiring special dongles. Of course sites have to support audio captcha and embed it in a cross-browser way to cover 99% of the users. One captcha I reviewed required the user to move a slider to prove they were human. I pointed out to them that I could easily emulate that with a script since, in the end, they just send back to the server that 'slider_move=true' or something. I keep hoping for a silver bullet but nothing but the current tough puzzles seems to work. As I mentioned some time back, it's an arms race which is going to end badly. As the algorithms get better (IBM Watson anyone) the puzzles that only people can solve are going to get harder to keep them out. Eventually they will become so difficult people won't actually be able to pass the Turing test or the algorithims will storm the gates. This is while centralized ID systems like OpenID are essential. If we can do one real person check one time and load all the cost there we can then use that ID for everything else, we can do non-automated tests which are not subject to online cracking. Facbook IDs are becoming a defacto standard so that all the other sites don't have to re-authenticate. We live in interesting times. Hi folks, For reasons that are complicated to explain I have the ear of the legal department at paypal -ebay. Part of the reason is that, as some of you may know, they are *requiring* all users to agree that that they read pdf files, or they will lose their account. Because of this and some other access issues with paypal and ebay, i have been asked to document why things like pdf and captcha are issues for those using adaptive tools. I have told them already that to assume everyone is using jaws is impractical, and that still browsers like lynx, with its recent edition dated June 2011, are good foundations for access. I have shared that pdf reaains a hurtle, and captcha is flat out an issue, as is stuff like flash. because they are serious though I want to make maximum use of this opportunity. What I would welcome is article information, places that discuss why pdf for example and captcha remain barriers. Likewise posts from you if you have met with issues with either service would be welcome. I want them to fix this for everyone, not just sweep me under the corporate rug. That they are shifting all document responsibility t the end user is disturbing, since if you have an issue say with security, you will bare the blame for any discrepancies in documentation. Additionally, if part of your professional life is access, share under your professional umbrella. If I get enough research responses, i will construct a solid document for them, and include as many other people as I can.
