N810: How to avoid white?
Hi, have a strange problem with the N810. Whenever the color white is displayed, the display is flickering. I already asked here about this behaviour. I installed a grey theme which already helped a lot. Now my questions: 1. Is it possible to disable displaying white on the fly, e.g. to let it replace by X whith grey? 2. If not, what about convert with imagemagick all images (icons, etc), so they didn't include white? N900 display doesn't turn on
Hi, the display of my n900 doesn't turn on. But the device itself works (received IM messages and mails, led blinking, keyboard light, shutdown and boot sounds). Even the touchscreen works somehow (I hear clicks and touchscreen feedback). I tried to reflash it, but it didn't helped. I tried the video cable, but the output is just 3-4lines high of white, blue and black color, which reminds me to the default background. Any ideas? Hope some Nokia hardware guys reading here as well. (Feel free to forward, if you know them...) I repost this here, because I got no answer in maemo-users. Hi, I have a N900 with English keyboard, but my main language is German. If I want to write a U-Umlaut (Ü) than I need to type Fn-Sym-¨-U. That are four steps... On the other side I have £-key (Fn-Z). I would like to change it with a compose key or the at least with the ¨/(diaeresis)-key. So I don't need to wait for the virtual special characters keypad. Is it possible to replace £ with compose (or ¨)? Modest doesn't update one IMAP account anymore
Hi, I have set up two IMAP accounts in modest (maemo5). Since I was in england and had an connection error during roaming, one of the accounts doesnt update anymore. It also doesn't show the contents of already downloaded mails. The newest message is 4th nov. In evolution everything works fine. My question: How could I find more details about this behavior (logs, debugging etc) I'm not so much interested in a quick fix, because the account isn't urgent. I just want to now what goes wrong, so I can file a bug report. Or should I just write one. Transfering contacts to N900
Hi, I just try to transfer my contacts from a SonyEricsson W810i to the N900, The direct import via Bluetooth doesn't work. I have all the contacts saved on my PC via Wammu. Is there any way to communicate from a Linux PC with the N900, so I have all my contacts there? I tried multisync0.90 as well. On the N900 a dialog for pairing appeared, but multisync didn't show me the PIN code, so I wasn't able to finish pairing. Internal memory card is read-only
Hi, my internal memory card is read only, but in the Memory-Settings (from Control panel) the checkbox isn't activated. I tried to restart the device, but after reboot it's still read-only. I can remount it to read-write, but after one action it's read-only again. Any idea? Hi, how is the policy to edit the wikipage for NokiaWorld 2009 QA? [1] I would like to change the order of some questions. I know there was rumors month ago, that Nokia will offer the N900 via a T-Mobile contract. I don't see any arguments for this rumor, because e.g. Quim advertise the root shell[2]. I would like to add a question, if there are plans for subsidized and locked phone and move every related as a subquestion. If Nokia didn't have a deal with T-Mobile, some other questions doesn't make sense anymore. So: Can I change the wikipage freely (with caution and common sense, of course)? Hi, I had this problem, too. But after I reflashed my N810 with the newest Diablo image I didn't have this problem. But I didn't have it in Diablo in the beginning, too. I tried the steps from bugreport #1626 but still everything is ok. Hi, I suspect that your internal flash is full.(...) I can't remember to install lot of software or put other files on the internal flash before this incident. Normally I try to keep the internal flash (the system flash) clean and save stuff on mmc1 and mmc2. Of course I am not 100% sure, that the system flash isn't full. If you don't have a recent backup and don't want to risk losing data or go through the PITA of reinstalling everything from scratch after a reflash, try some patience. Start by removing the battery for at least 15 minutes, then reinstall it and plug in the charger. It might immediately start booting before you even touch the power button. Leave it alone, and even if it seems like it's frozen just wait. If it hasn't successfully booted in a couple of hours, start over. If you do eventually get a successful boot, try removing a few of the larger apps that you don't really need and see if that helps. I tried this. I used a full charged battery and let the N810 try to boot the whole night. It's just an infinite loop: Nokia logo - blank screen - Nokia loge - battery symbol - Nokia logo How can I reflash it, when I don't have access to the device. just for a short period (1s) the USB-logo appears. Hi, do you know an alternative to StarDict? Something more hildonized? Also I would love to use the dict.tu-chemnitz.de German-English-Dictionary, which is released under GPL. I have a text-file (suitable for Ding) and a version prepared for dictd. Is there a dictd client for Maemo? Or if StarDict is the only usable tool at the moment, how can I convert a dictd-dictionary to a format that StarDict understands? can't get a gps fix (was Re: Looking for gps logger for n810)
Hi, sorry for thread-hijacking. I can't get a gps fix with my n810. Yesterday I try it with lot of patience and put the n810 for more then 30min on a table on the balcony. When I try maemo-mapper the gps-icon in the status bar appears and disappears again and again. But my Garmin eTrex (cheapest GPS device I know) get a fix even indoor behind the window. How must I setup GPS in maemo-mapper? What can I do to get a GPS-fix (I tried GPS-Settings- Location)? hi, I have installed Leafpad and want the file manager to use it to open certain source files like lhs, python ... How can set an default application for a certain filetype? Hi, after nobody could help me here I tried to reset the library, but eventhough I deleted .osso/mediaplayer-* it still use the wrong data. Any hints? Did I asked the wrong way? same contact shown multiple times in the contact list
hi, I have some contacts in my jabber and gtalk roster multiple times. first they was double, then few days later 3 times. But I can't recognize any pattern. All my accounts are affected, but not in the same degree. And not all contacts are affected. Some or 3 times, other two times in the list. Does anybody has the same problem? I use the default chat application of maemo and have installed diablo on a N810. How I can get more information to write a useful bugreport? Hi, like the good old MS Word 9x Maemo support the widely loved feature to write the first character after a point or paragraph in upper case (A instead of a). How can I switch this off? This is with a hardware keyboard a little bit, but with a bluetooth keyboard totally annoying. Hi, I am using the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard with the N810. I set German layout, but after most (but not every) reconnects it reacts like a standard or US layout. I also try to overwrite the English layouts (us,gb) with the German one in /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols Any ideas? Thanks, Keywan PS @Nokia: Bluetooth GUI could be really improved. Allowing bluetooth applet stays in panel, even wenn bluetooth is switched off and a menu shortcut from this applet to bluetooth keyboard settings. Cant access connectivity settings
Hi, since I added my new phone (Sony-Eric. W810i) to my N810 I can't access the Connectivity settings anymore, neither from the Control panel nor from the applet. If I try it from the Control panel, the Control panel crashs. If I try it from the wireless applet, the panel (or the hildon desktop?) crashs. I only can push the on/off button and restart the N810. I'd like to add a bug-report, but how I can dig more information.
