Re: [Mailman-Users] Converting Majordomo archive files to Mailman archives?
You can use $prefix/bin/arch to add the contents of .mbox files to the HTML archives of a Mailman mailing list. RUn it with the -h option for more information. You could consider using the following patch to Mailman for integrating htdig for archive search: http://www.openinfo.co.uk/mailman/patches/444884/index.html and the following patch which integrates MHonArc for HTML archive page generation, which is compatible with the htdig integration: http://www.openinfo.co.uk/mailman/patches/mhonarc/index.html These patches are also available via sourceforge. One of my mailman lists is used as an announcement-only list. Each alert, or announcement goes out to a different group, which is pulled from a database query. [Mailman-Users] reliable python 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 backport?
Hi folks, I've determined that the problems I'm having with Mailman now are related to the fact that I have Python 2.3.2 running in Debian (woody). Moderated messages keep erroring into logs/error about True not being defined. Does anyone here know of any reliable Python 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 backports that I can use in my debian install? I've combed the net looking for this and I have run into brick walls and discussion lists where someone said there is one available but never mentioned where. I found something in the wee hours and installed it only to learn that 2.3.2 is just not cutting it. Surely someone on this list has found one if it exists, right? :-) I am starting to question my decision to use stable vs. unstable since so many applications require me to break the rules to make recent versions of applications run. -Jeff -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/

I recently made the upgrade* from 2.0.8 to 2.1.5. It went well. Thank you, mailman maintainers, for a great piece of software. Mail to our mailing lists has had empty Cc headers since the upgrade. You may want to pay special attention to the entries at http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=showfile=faq04.041.htp, and consider the performance advantages of upgrading to version 2.1.5. Most of the FAQs are related to mail deliverly. This list only sends one email a day, so that's not an issue. Also, all archiving is turned off, so that's not an issue either. This is why I pointed out a specific entry which had to do with other things, and mentioned the issue of considering upgrading to 2.1.5, since it is known to resolve certain specific performance problems. It loads the Python pickles, yes. Ah, the pickles... I'm sure this is the problem. I'm no Python guru, but isn't there a way to keep from reading in the entire jar (of pickles) unless you actually need to? Maybe I need to ask the developers list instead of this one... I don't think there's any way to keep Mailman from doing this, at least not in any current version. Patches are welcome. In the meanwhile, if you're having problems of this type, you may need to resort to the command-line oriented methods which are discussed more extensively in the archives. -- Brad Knowles, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. -- Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), reply of the Pennsylvania Assembly to the Governor, November 11, 1755 SAGE member since 1995. [Mailman-Users] Debian Woody/Exim4/Mailman2.4.5 -- Failure to Deliver
Resolution: Seems that the Python version I upgraded to 2.3.3 had some bug in it that was braking mailman. Upgraded to Python 2.3.4 and rebooted machine. All items now working in perfect harmony. For those trying to get the same system of Debian\Exim4\Mailman 2.4.5 feel free to drop me a line if you need assistance. Re: [Mailman-Users] Can't confirm subscriptions
Problem solved! While wating for a reply on this problem, I configured the crontabs as described in the INSTALL file. Re: [Mailman-Users] reliable python 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 backport?

-Jeff Hi Jeff, I'm running Woody on the server. I've also installed Mailman 2.1.5, with Sendmail. My version of Python is 2.2.1-4.3. Because I use Sendmail rather that Exim, I couldn't get a working list server using .deb files. So, I installed Python using aptitude and then installed Mailman from source in /usr/local/mailman. It works wonderfully. No need to go to a Python backport. -- Raquel Believe that life is worth living and your belief will create the fact. --William James -- Mailman-Users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users Mailman FAQ: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py Searchable Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users%40python.org/
[Mailman-Users] problem still exists w/2.3.4 Python...
Here is the latest story in my saga. I'm running Mailman 2.1.5 with Python 2.3.4 If I create a list and make a user moderated they can't post to the list. the logs/errors file fills up with a bunch of lines, but this is at the bottom: File /usr/local/mailman/Mailman/ListAdmin.py, line 113, in __nextid while True: NameError: global name 'True' is not defined This problem seems to be documented in this closed bug: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=100103aid=956734group_id=103 I just upgraded to Python 2.3.4 and this problem still exists. If the user trying to post to the list is moderated their submission is shunted. Does anyone know what this might be? Defining True = 1 at the top of ListAdmin.py didn't help.
