If they are indeed using the MultiRBL.Valli.org checker they clearly do
not understand what that public nuisance is.

FWIW: Somehow that IP has been listed by both nodes of drbl.gremlin.ru
for many years, supposedly because of a spamtrap hit, which is
extraordinarily unlikely. Since the link for removal is broken and this
is the first time I've ever seen anyone care about it, I gave up years
ago trying to figure it out or fix it.

I don't doubt that. They blocked my new IP space because my unassigned,

From same data center but a real email server cluster..
Looks like they might be using aggressive RBL checks, but exempting
known whitelisted servers somehow?

Also, try from servers with 'mail' in the PTR record.. just a theory

From the very same server, I get different results depending on which
local IP address I bind to. If I bind to an IP address which regularly
sends email (89.16.184.172) then it connects fine, but if I connect
from an IP address that never normally sends email (89.16.162.4), then I
get the same error message that others are reporting.

I had less luck from my residential line and VPS in various other

strangely enough we've see only one such error in he past week and that
came from a remote bounce. Since you have already checked the rDNS my

Yeah, it looks like they went overly aggressive, not sure if they use
