MD: MD car units
Hello there. I'm new to the list, so I apologize if similar messages have been posted already! Anyway, I'm looking to buy an MD unit for my beloved Saturn. I am rather partial (ok, very partial!) to the Kenwood KMD-42 unit. Problemo numero uno: this Kenwood unit only has one input, and I want to keep both a tape deck and my cd changer. That brings up problemo numero dos, but I'll get to that in a sec. Back to "uno." If there is only one input on this unit, is there some kind of switch or adapter that I can use so that I can play my cd's and my tapes? Just wondering. If not, is there a player out there that has more than one input? Problemo dos: If I do get this new deck, it will only fill half of my oversized Saturn deck opening. I planned to fill in with a tray, but I hoped I could find a tape deck that would fit there too. The kind of cassette deck I'd be looking for would be simple: it'd have the tape slot, and the play/stop/cue buttons..that's it. I've seen them before, so I know they exist. Here's what my dream car deck looks like: _ | | |_KMD-42_| || | |__tray___|_cassette__| Is it at all possible?? If anyone knows, I'd much appreciate some feedback. In fact, I'd appreciate ANY and ALL feedback, on anything in this email..so feel free to write back! Well, you'll have to excuse my 2-year Spanish..sorry! Thanks in advance for the feedback that I KNOW you guys will be giving me..haha..adios! Ryan - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

MD: Shipping ex-US from Kheops
I just bought a Sharp 722 from Pierre Forest at Kheops Minidisc for $US198 and had it shipped to NZ by registered airmail and fully insured for about $30 more. It arrived in two weeks enclosed in extra packing and I just thought others outside the US might be interested. I was very impressed with the service and saved a bundle over the local cost. Paid by Visa. No problems at all (apart from the voltage discrepancy of course) and great to deal with someone who answers questions quickly and can be bothered to help. Plus of course the 722 is a great buy at this price - get one before they disappear! G Slevin - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: md--which has digital output?
I use the Sony, because I don't have to mess with setting the record level when take it to festival to record "parking lot picking" and jam sessions. I have to contend with the END SEARCH problem, but the time and date stamping, and automatic level settings really help in that environment. To make it even handier to use when I am carrying my instrument and don't want to be bothered with a bunch of cords and need a compact unit including the mike, I designed and built a stereo mike that I can plug directly into the unit, so all I have to do is plug in the mike, remember to press END SEARCH and push the record button. (Or pause, mono, unpause to record in mono.) Here is the mike and building instructions. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=89237a=1919386p=16700797 http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=89237a=1919386p=16700746 http://www.tir.com/~liteways/Mandolin.html#Microphone susan wrote: trying to decide which md recorder to get for field recordings at night outdoors in bad conditions-rain etc. need durable machine with dig output and also need advice on microphones. thanks Please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Susan and the Wolves of Suffern, Cory at the Bridge ICQ #17750260 cc to [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Jim Coon Not just another pretty mandolin picker. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If Gibson made cars, would they sound so sweet? Re: MD: md--which has digital output?
I forgot to mention that none of the portables have a digital output at this time. THey have digital input, but not output. The decks do but they are pretty unhandy to take to a field recording session because they don't have a mike input and you have to supply power and a preamp, and they are bulky. susan wrote: trying to decide which md recorder to get for field recordings at night outdoors in bad conditions-rain etc. need durable machine with dig output and also need advice on microphones. thanks Please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Susan and the Wolves of Suffern, Cory at the Bridge ICQ #17750260 cc to [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Jim Coon Not just another pretty mandolin picker. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If Gibson made cars, would they sound so sweet? MD: MD Boombox
"this may be a dumb question, buy why not order one from asia or outside the us from somewhere that does carry them?" In answer to your question, I'm looking for recommendations about places where I can buy a boombox. I haven't purchased anything form an overseas vendor, and I thought maybe someone on the list would recommend one, or knew of a vendor in the US that carried these. The pair would match nicely in the dash, and you'd have tape, CD (via changer) and MD all at hand. That's about the only way I can see you getting the best of both worlds anyway.. hth, -- Simon - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Adapter for car MD player (SONY MDX-C5960R or MDX-C6500R)
In order to hear the MP3 file you will need to be able to hear it from the laptop speakers, once you can get it to play thorugh them, you shold be able to plughinto the external speaker jack with a stereo plug and run tha to the twoRCA jacks. Hope that helps. "Stefan Andersson A (MIC)" wrote: "J. Coon" wrote: I'm nOt sure what you are trying to do. Are yoou playing MP3 from your laptop to the car speakers? What kind of laptop is it and what kind of car MD is it? I want to connect my Toshiba Portégé 3010CT to my car MiniDisc Player (which is a SONY MDX-C5960R). I have tried to connect it to the line-in RCA connectors (there you connect your md/cd-changer too). But i didn't get any sound out of if. In short, i want to connect my laptop computer and play mp3's throuh my sony mdx-c5960r car player.. who do i that ? /Stefan - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Jim Coon Not just another pretty mandolin picker. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] If Gibson made cars, would they sound so sweet? Sometimes you need to trick the head unit into thinking there's a changer connected when there really isn't, or it won't enable the RCA in's. /fnord - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Boom Box or Speaker set
Neon John [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Cambridge Soundworks has a spiffy portable speaker set: two small satellites, subwoofer, and a small car-type (lead) rechargeable battery to power the set. Cost is around $70, I think. Intersting. Now my question. Does anyone make a single piece amplified stereo speaker system? I had a really nifty one oh, 'bout 10 years ago. Had a little compartment on top to stick the walkman or tape player or whatever. Used 8 D batteries and would recharge nicads. No idea what brand. Alas, it went in the house fire. I would LOVE to have another one of those. It was so nice - just clamp the walkman in the compartment and it became a 1 piece device. No fooling with cords or carrying cases or the like. Anticipating that nothing like this is made, anyone know of a decent amplifier (component or board level product) that could be used in a homemade speaker box? The one that Rat suggested is exactly what you're describing. I actually have one (sans battery). The bag is rectangular (taller than wide), and the subwoofer fits in the bottom. The top has two compartments for the satellite speakers (with mesh "windows" so that the sound gets out), and a space between them for storage. On the very top is a "shelf" for a CD player, MD player, etc. You can unzip the top flap for quick access to the player. One side has a zip-open door for power cables, etc. (in case you want to plug it in, or use the satellites outside of the case). The other side has a pocket for the battery for portable use. It's really a great little system (and it's now much, much cheaper than when I bought mine five or six years ago!). == Dan Frakes [EMAIL PROTECTED] == - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: MD: Automatic gapless track marking from PC
==BEGIN QUOTE Basically, when compiling MP3's or even a wav file with track marks / regions, I'd like to be able to just transfer them digitally to MD via the coax connection I'm currently using between my TB Fiji and the JA30ES. I know neither soundforge nor cooledit pro support it, but I'm not sure if that's because it's a soundcard issue or a software issue. Any ideas fellas? I don't want to do the x second(s) gap thing because these recordings are seamless from track to track. It's kinda tedious watching the clock to make sure I get back to the deck in time to produce the next track split by hitting the record button on the MD deck. END QUOTE=== I would check out WinRemote which is an IR remote / A1 emulator for Sony MD decks; - details may be found in the Accessories section of the MDCP. There may be plug-ins available for WinAmp or other popular multimedia players and jukeboxes. Some of these plug-ins coud do tricks such as issue the REC function when items start during playlists or title tracls according to filenames or CDDB titles.
