Your LPS will not work as well. Wow. Bold statement, especially without specifying _which_ LPS product. LPS3 is a waxy oil stuff that is very good at protecting from rust, and good at keeping moving parts moving. In my experience, WD-40 is vastly inferior at providing a protective coating. Again, in my experience LPS2 is a superior lubricant compared to WD-40. I'm not sure how they compare for long term protection because I use LPS3 for that job. LPS1 is a dry lubricate once the carrier evaporates. I does not cause dust to stick, so is suitable for things like the 40ft telescoping pneumatic masts. It doesn't gum up like WD-40, and in my experience lubricates at least as well. I use WD-40 to kill wasps on their nests and to displace water in ignition systems. It works well for those jobs, but I personally wouldn't use it for any task that required lubrication - long or short term. My only complaint with LPS is trying to find a local retailer to sell it... --Philip ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

It looks like a pair of pliers with a box end wrench on one jaw and a short stud with a washer base on the other. Put the bushing on the stud, reach up and start the bushing in the hole and pres the handle. You're done. Slide bolt through bushing opening on the shifter arm. Place PVC cap and 1/4-20 nut onto end of bolt to create a sandwich around the shifter arm. The idea is that tightening the bolt/nut will push the bushing into the arm. The PVC cap creates space where the bushing can be pushed by straddling the opening. Is that more clear? Make sure the drains in the wells are open (they get clogged up easily) so whatever gets in will drain out. The water is probably coming in around the rear window seals at the corners, or you are getting corrosion that is letting in water, or some combination of the two. This is happening on the SD, not sure what to do about it. A window guy told me that replacing the rear window seals on a 126 was the worst job imaginable, don't know about a 123. --R On 7/3/13 10:48 AM, Jon Agne wrote: After the last two weeks of deluge, I noticed that I have water in the side wells of the trunk compartment. [MBZ] Transmission W124 91 300D
I bought one of the transmissions from Sun Valley through Rusty in Dec 2011. A few days ago I noticed that 1st gear is not being selected when I push the pedal to the floor when leaving a stop sign. It does not go into 1st using the lever either so I guess that lets the pedal switch out... I checked the switch under the accelerator pedal and it is not blocked or being prevented from engaging. Is this a problem that might be transmission related or is it more likely a switch, wiring or a vacuum line? Are there other black boxes that might be at fault. I know you cannot diagnose it long distance, -- I am just looking for a best guess reply. First extended cruise since the lower rad hose debacle; coolant level light came on about 15 min. into cruise. temp holding steady at 90-95C; stopped to check level manually and for leaks, etc. Visible level in expansion tnk about half; no leaks visible. Level light came on coupla more times during 80 mile round trip at straight and level cruise; stopped 2nd time to check tank and for leaks; visible level half way between full line and indicator switch and no leaks found. Checked level after sitting coupla hours - a little above half way. Filled to full line; hoping it just needed some burping. Level indicator switch is at lower front of exp tank, well below visible level in the tank. Eng temp never above 95 during trip. Take it out again tomorrow. So how she popped up there I have no idea, but it really creeped me out. I figure they must be using some kind of data mining someway somehow, but how she got snared in that I cannot imagine. That was kinda fun, but no one I cared to friend or whatever you do there. I hit this one whose picture looks sorta familiar, and the first name is sorta familiar, and I look closer and see it was a girlfriend from some time before I was married, which was 31 years and 1 week ago. I just about sh*t. Turns out she is linked to a guy I know, two away, but that must include about a million people, and there were only a coupla 2 away people on the whole list. So how she popped up there I have no idea, but it really creeped me out. I figure they must be using some kind of data mining someway somehow, but how she got snared in that I cannot imagine. [MBZ] OM603 nicht startering
A fella on the OzBenz list has a mate with a 124 300D that was taken to a doctors appointment and 2 hours later wouldn't start. Here is his cry for help: I am trying to get a friend's W124 300D going and was wondering what the expected mileage life could be for one of these engines? There are good service records up until 300k, and it now has 470k on the clock. Although the motor cranks over and nearly starts it will just not run. So far I have done some basic things such as cleaned the tank filter, blown out the line, fitted two new fuel filters from MB Spares, checked for a broken timing chain/correct engine and injector pump timing and they appear OK. Fuel is pulsing around each injector line, and there is test light voltage at the glow plugs. Am looking to do a compression test next when I can get the fittings. The car was driven to a doctor's appointment one day and just refused to start again, and had to be towed. I thought I had read that these motors were capable of quite high mileages, but am now fearing it may not have enough compression to fire. Could this be likely? Any experienced thoughts? Thanks in advance, Col. My guess is a busted headgasket leaking between cylinders, so in fact taking out two cylinder, I would think it would run on five cylinders. Perhaps fuel shut off valve? However I don't know enough about the OM 603 to be able to come up with specifics. Re: [MBZ] (SPAM?) OM603 nicht startering
Most likely is a leaking suction hose to the lift pump, or a bad o- ring at the fitting on the lift pump. Try putting the car on a steep slope nose down -- the fitting or hose will leak fuel OUT under these conditions. Leaking suction lines will prevent starting. Makes it run badly, too. Fuel should not pulse at the injector fittings, it should run all over the place.
