Re: [MBZ] OT - GEORGE TALES - THE SCROUNGER
True, but it's "buying power" is never based on deliberate governmental devalutation (inflation) like the dollar. Over time, the averaged price of gold continues to increase in value. For example, the gold that a friend bought in the 1980s is now worth four times what he paid for it, and at one time was worth 6 times what he paid for it in US$. Of course, the gold standard is an impractical system in the current, fast moving, computerized world. I might point out, those dollars your friend paid for that gold is now worth about 0.13 cents in real buying power. Adjusted against the dollars buying power at the time of purchase. Hard to keep such comparisons in a strictly "apples to apples" frame of reference. But quite necessary when assessing real buying power of stored investment gold. The worldwide ponzi schemes of central banks AKA Federal Reserve have just run out of fresh victims and ponzi... expect major crash in near future, some have already crashed and been propped up in short term.. there is no "reserve" to call on for long term left. [MBZ] El Capitan
Not heeding my own advice, but I was forced to... I picked up a macbook off Goodwill yesterday. Paid next to nothing for a unibody with working battery, no charger, small ram. The thing was wiped with fresh install of 10.6.3. I tried to migrate stuff over and update the OS. Update just locked it up, as it had done on my other macbooks. It would not allow me to install 10.7 from DVD, but manual update got to 10.6.8 so the DVD did work. Auto update on 10.7 farted and locked. It did not want to behave, so I just went with El Capitan. Took all night to install. This thing is ugly. Like ios. Or winblows. All flat and pastel. No lock up so far. clay 2002 s430 - Victor, a Stately & well tailored chap 1974 450sl - Frosch - Two tone green 1976 300D - Blei Vanst - it looks silvery 1972 220D - Gump - She was green, simple and ran 1995 E300D - Gave her life to save me against a Dame in a SUV POS 1987 SDL - Beware Nigerian Scammers ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

They dumped classic icons and went South Beach, flat pastel cartoon. Looks like something from Toontown for Miami Hotwives. The install was very simple. Took forever for the download, but I had the install screen there when I woke up. Poke the install button and away it went. The whole feel is simplistic and very one button. The same look and feel interface as with the iPhones and iPads for configuration, as well as execution. It also hooks deeply into iCloud and synching all your Apple products together. That way you can answer you phone on the computer, phone or ipad. Or move from one to the next as needed. There's an awesome apple tree in my front yard planted by a PO in 1982. Tree is not much to look at but the fruits are numerous and totally free of disease, although they look mottled and streaked red/black. Taste is tart-sweet, crisp skin, small sized. I went to applename.com and it seems to be a Virginia winesap. I made applesauce on the stove (cored but unpeeled) and then blended it in the Blendtec - voila - pink applesauce. :) Also, some apple-mint jelly that has deep flavor and is quite unusual (not sure I like it). The winesap is not supposed to be self fruitful but my tree has nothing to pollinate it yet was lousy with fruit.
