They have Febi for $7.52 plus about $15 for shipping. (Free shipping
if you order more than $75

Their website is always very slow. It can't find the driveshaft center

keyword driveshaft.

Sure it does. I use it all the time.

Double click to open a photo. In the upper right hand corner of the screen is
a button that says “Edit”. Click that and go to town.

If you’re editing multiple photos in the same album, whne you finish editing
one there will be arrows on each side of the photo that allow you to move to
the next photo in the album.

Yeah, I found edit, then found out "retouch" means resize. (Odd choice
of descriptors) but if I click on done after resizing, the file is
still the same size. When using resize, there is no indication of the
dimensions, the number of pixels, or the file size. There is no save or
save as. As with everything else EL CRAP they broke or lost what works
and I see no improvements. Bah!The photos started as 1.5 MB and is
still 1.5 after "resizing."

Is there any free batch resize software for 64 bit OS 10?For the
68040 system 7, there was a great drag and drop editor. You just set it
up for what you want, then you drag and drop batches of photos over the
icon. Bam! Done!Editing one at a time is stupid, unless you just
need to work on one picture.

Export the photo to a folder or your desktop. When you export the photo you
can choose the file size/quality. This would apply to a group of photos if
you’re doing a bunch of them at a time, just Command-click to choose the photos
then go to “File > Export” and step through the choices.

You’re not dropping down the “Photo Kind” option. Just to the right of that
field is a little square box with a carat in it. Up and ou see nothing, down
and it expands the selection to show a bunch of options for JPEG quality, color

IIRC, it had about 130,000 miles on it. And I agree those engines did tend to
need a head gasket around the mileage you suggested. I just wasn't happy with
the power of the car and saw an opportunity. I don't know enough about the 3.2
in the 140 to say whether they are strong enough. But, it sounds like you have
some experience with them. My only suggestion would be to avoid the 126 with
the 3.0.

If you recall, your indie had a really nice 300SEL for sale last year that he
wanted too much for.

The W126 with the 3.0 liter inline six is underpowered, but it’s still a nice
car. The reason I like them is that the W126 V8s are so tight and difficult to
work on I would gladly sacrifice horsepower for serviceability. The LWB models
are appointed better than the regular length models, too. The 300SE was like a
300E 2.6 - an entry level car that had a lot of options either unavailable or
deleted.

As for your head gasket, I’m betting the engine had about 150k on the clock.
Every M103 engine will need a head gasket between 150k-175k like clockwork.
Valve guides, too.

I have driven the W140s with the 3.2 liter six, and they are amazingly quick.
I drove one las year and had it out on the interstate with AC and everything
else on, and it had no problem standing on its’ hind legs and getting out in
front of traffic. That did convince me that I could own/drive a six cylinder
W140 at the time. Those engines are pretty robust and the amount of space in
the engine compartment makes things a lot easier when it comes to service.

I am firmly in the diesel camp any more, but if I had to buy a gasser I would
probably lean towards a late 90s S320 for ease of service. Yes, the W140
chassis is pretty damned complex, but at least by going with a 97 or later
you’re avoiding a lot of the known weaknesses of the chassis.

[MBZ] cars for sale?

Anybody have a cheap and reliable car for sale for around $2000? The

The car is for a 16 year old that thinks that wife's SRX is too big (but she
was happy with the STS). She cannot drive stick shift and is a little bit of a
snob when it comes to cars. But, I'm the stepdad not the Mom. Actual Dad

doesn't matter whether she likes it or not.I am thinking something like an
older Taurus or Buick would be good. I suppose an older Camry, Accord, or

[MBZ] 'nother use for a tractor

2016-09-02 Thread Curley McLain via Mercedes
I needed to glue up 6 pieces of 2x lumber to make a turning blank. I
don't have the 6 or 8 pipe clamps needed to get it good and tight. I
hit on the ideaof using the floor jack against the tractor frame, but
decided pressing against the Lift-all hydraulic pump was a better
idea. I jacked up the workpiece until the front end of the tractor was
2" off the ground. Left it like that for 2 days to cure the glue.

MB content: the floor jack held for 2 days. No leakdown whatsoever.
Another reason why I trust the floor jack more than the "3 ton" little
jackstands. The "6 ton" jackstands have a much larger base and don't
tip as easily as the "3 ton"If I am using the small jackstands, I
leave the jack under too as a safety (or vice versa)

It was a bust here. Wednesday it was really nasty with lots of rain.
Yesterday, when it was supposed to be at its worst, it was actually pretty nice
until the evening. Last night and this morning we had a lot of rain and wind,
but thing of any real substance. This continued through the morning, and since
midday it’s been sunny and pleasant.

I’ve got a lot of detritus from the trees in my back yard, but other than that
it was a non-event.

Re: [MBZ] Hermine and Floyd

2016-09-02 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
Rain stopped this morning about 9:30 after tstorming and raining most of
the night starting at 11:30P. I think we got some pretty good rain, the
driveway was awash in several places at 8ish (but it has soaked down
now). Wind is gusty but not that strong. Got some tree branches down
but nothing significant, one tree lost the top which fell in the woods
so at some point I will probably get the chainsaw after it.

Lots of detritus in the driveway, mostly just little branches from the
pine trees that snap off if you look at them sideways. A job for mama
tomorrow.

One small oak down across the path along the road but it did not get
into the road just right to the edge. I'll probably go out in a while
with the chainsaw and clean that up so the neighbors can walk/jog/bike
along the road and not get into it.

I was sitting on the porch this afternoon watching the wind blow, saw a
few branches drop. There is a little hummingbird that has been hanging
around the last few weeks, it was coming to the feeders and chattering
quite loudly. I don't think it is too happy about the storm.

Radar suggests it is mostly inland along 95 with the heaviest rain, and
probably mostly headed up 95, I don't know about the wind. I might go
over to the beach in a little while to see what's going on with the
surf. There were idiots in the surf at Folly Beach today, one got
washed under the pier which is VERY dangerous.

As far as getting into CLT I'm guessing it should clear through there by
early/mid morning so unless other things get buggered up you should be
OK unless it's a redeye in which case you would get in early, maybe
before it clears through?

[MBZ] cars

2016-09-02 Thread Randy Bennell via Mercedes
So, Donald noted a few posts back that he had owned something in excess
of 40 vehicles over the years and had only lost $$ on a couple of them.

My record is not quite so good. I just counted up and I think I have had
about 23 vehicles (including a couple that are essentially my wife's
cars but not including the one's that I bought for my sons to drive, and
not including things like motorcycles or boats - just cars and trucks)
and have lost $$ on pretty much all of them.

Some were terrible cars (although reasonably new) and there are only 2
that I can say I wished I still had - a 65 Mustang and a 68 Cougar.

Anyone else care to compare? Kleb probably has the most but we should
not let him count the ones that don't run.

I currently have 4 including my wife's Honda Accord. I have the 76 300D,
as well as my '13 F150 SC and the 08 Civic I bought from my mother this
past winter.

I tend to keep vehicles and of the 23 in total I think that I kept 7 of
them for 10 years or more.

Randy,

You also have to consider the value they provided while you had them, it can’t
just be a “I bought it for this and sold it for this.”

It is probably changing the _print_ size - or DPI. Which means the
image itself isn't being changed.

Look for "scale" rather than "resize".

ImageMagick is, in my opinion, the very pinnacle of batch image
processing. But it is command line. And I don't know how many
hoops need to be jumped to make it work in the Apple GUI...

This look promising.

GraphicConverter. I think it's still available.

" Only reason for selling is we just have too many vehicles. If we can't
get really close to our asking price we will just keep it."

Looks like he is going to be selling one of the other cars to make room
for this one.

The GIMP is potent. But it doesn't have built-in provision for
batch processing. But one-at-a-time it can do almost anything
Photoshop can do, though often it will take a couple steps rather
than just a single menu item.

It could be available for Mac, but I don't know if there are
pre-built binaries.

I don't remember paying for Graphic Converter, but it probably was on
the used Mac I got, or the univ. had a site license. I used it while
working at the Univ. Thanks for the link. I did not remember the
name. I DO remember it was real slick.
