Drivers should allow extra time, consider traveling during non-peak morning or nighttime hours, and stay on the designated detour route with SB I-17 closed between Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will detour on WB Loop 303 to SB Lake Pleasant Parkway and use EB Happy Valley Road to return to I-17. Crews are continuing a much-needed project to improve the ride on six miles of I-17 between Happy Valley Road and State Route 74. Additional I-17 closures or lane restrictions will be needed as the work proceeds. After the cataract surgery, the back sides of her lens capsules clouded and caused her to be unable to see well. She ended up having laser surgery where they made X cuts in the back sides of the lens capsules, which caused the points of the cut portions to curl back out of the way so she could see again. [MBZ] I-17 NB closed this weekend near Phoenix
For all you Arizonans, https://www.overdriveonline.com/equipment/article/15676844/drivers-death-prompts-incab-carbon-monoxide-warning-new-paccar-mx13 I-17 NB closed this weekend near Phoenix NB Interstate 17 is scheduled to be closed this weekend, June 7-10, between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 in north Phoenix for pavement improvement work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra time, consider traveling during non-peak morning or nighttime hours and stay on the designated detour route, ADOT said. The closure will last from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. On-ramps at Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads also will be closed. The posted detour follows WB Happy Valley Road to NB Lake Pleasant Parkway and EB Loop 303 back to I-17. The reverse of this route moved traffic efficiently throughout last weekend’s SB I-17 closure between Loop 303 and Happy Valley Road, ADOT noted. The department also said truck drivers can consider using I-10 in the West Valley to NB Loop 303 as an alternate detour route. ADOT said crews are continuing a much-needed project to improve the ride on 6 miles of I-17 between Happy Valley Road and State Route 74. This is the last of an initial series of four weekend closures so crews can safely and effectively remove the surface asphalt and clear as much dust and debris as possible before the freeway reopens. Additional I-17 closures or lane restrictions will be needed as the work proceeds. When I was an undergrad at Caltech, we had in the fall an activity called the Interhouse Dance, which, contrary to its name, had very little dancing. Each of the seven student Houses would build a more-or-less elaborate carnival display through which the vistors would travel. My freshman year ('67) my student House (Blacker) had the theme of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and was especially elaborate. It included a paper mache mountain 25' high over an area of perhaps 1800 ft^2 held up by telephone poles and many 2x4s, complete with a flooded courtyard with small bridges and paths through the insides of the mountain which had several stops, not unlike Disneyland. One of the "exhibits" I helped with was a wishing well into which people would toss coins (or small rocks :-) ). Down the well and out of sight was a small piece of thin plywood which was connected to a microswitch such that when the plywood was hit it would actuate the microswitch before the coin fell off. This was connected to some relays and a stereo tape recorder playing a tape loop. One channel of the tape loop was a splash sound and the other were two tone bursts: - One just before the splash sound of a pitch interpreted by some electronics and relay to connect a loudspeaker to the tape recorder's amplifier, and, - The other after the splash sound of a pitch to disconnect the loudspeaker. So, when someone tossed in a coin, one would later hear a splash. The time delay between tossing the coin and hearing the sound, of course, would depend upon exactly where in its looping the tape loop was when the microswitch was actuated. Showing the audience, when we took the display apart late that the night, we found someone had computed the mean and standard deviation and written them on the sign. I can get them > cheap, like $160/each. $160.00 --- = $ 0.32 / Watt, which is really cheap. 500 W In the table attached to your email, all of the panels have Voc (open circuit voltage with no current) and Isc (short circuit current with zero voltage) above spec. This is good and bodes well for their longevity. The Calculated Watts is obtained by multiplying the panel's Voc by its Isc (except for #9 whose Calc.Watts should be 521, not 513). This is not how solar panels work. The maximum power from a panel will be at a point (not coincidentally called the Maximum Power Point, MPP) where the voltage out is less than the Voc and at a current that is less than the Isc. My understanding is - The MPP changes with illumination and distribution of panel shading - This has to be measured for each panel and cannot be calculated from Voc and Isc, though I could be wrong. PV panels are operated at their MPP by using an electronic circuit called a Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT). If you are charging batteries where the voltage to first order will be constant, you can substitute a maximum current tracking circuit, which is much simpler. Sunpower is a decent brand. I bought some solar panels in the mid- to late-1980s I think were made by Sunpower, but I cannot find the pictures of them right now to verify. https://us.sunpower.com/company says they have been headquartered in Silicon Valley since 1985. "And with nearly 40 years of dedicated solar experience, we're the only U.S.-based solar company that's been around longer than our 25-year warranty." https://us.sunpower.com/home-solar/states/arizona talks about solar energy in Arizona. Shirley and I lived in Los Osos, CA, for three years in the mid-70s. It's right on the coast and a few miles south of Morro Bay, which has (had?) a commercial fishing fleet. > Notice how foggy it is? That’s the glass guy in the dark > jacket. If one went up the hill to the south to Montano de Oro where one was above the clouds, in the summertime one could see a bank of fog starting a couple of miles or so off the coast, funneling in between the mountains as it came inland, getting thicker all the while, until a couple of miles inland where it would disappear because the warmer inlands would raise its temperature above the dew point. In that region, the valley near Fresno gets hot, the air there rises and air from the Los Osos/Morrow Bay area gets sucked in to replace it. One always wears a jacket there. I planted Subartic Plenty tomatoes, the fastest ripening tomato*, against a white house wall shielded from the winds and barely got anything to harvest because of the cold and lack of sun. The fresh fish from Morro Bay was a compensation.
