My split system does not do hot water, I have a tankless hot water heater and it has been very good. The hot water heater uses natural gas with electric ignition. The split system heat pump AC works on electricity. Both very good choices. Sent from Dr. Scruggs, Gulf Coast Oral, Facial, and Dental Implant Surgery iPhone. dsereta...@yahoo.com wrote: Ok. Now I know what you guys are talking about. My father installed one years ago in a flat in Athens, Greece where I grew up. It was mounted high up near the ceiling. Compressor was outside on balcony. We used it for AC. Are these that good for heat as well? The ones from the top manufacturers (Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin, maybe LG,Samsung,Toshiba) with DC compressor motors are. The key phrase is 'inverter drive'. Often with oversize compressors, they loaf along during A/C and mild weather heating, then go to full power (and sometimes beyond) when it gets really cold outside. My Fuji is AHRI rated to put out 12,000 BTU/hr at 47° ambient but it's capable of running from 1700 to 15,000 BTU/hr at that temp. Rated output drops to 8100 at 17° and 6600 at 5°, I assume max is around 1/4 higher. If you're used to old fashioned heat pumps, the fact that it's usable below 17° is a minor miracle. My house draws about 30,000 BTU/hr when it's 0°F outside, I hope to get that down around 24,000, so a single 3/4 ton mini split is just a supplement to the furnace like having a fireplace in the living room. The Hyper Heat Mitsus and the RLS series Fujis are really impressive in heat mode when they overdrive the compressor at low ambient temps. I think the MSZ-FE Mitsus are a real bargain for heat, unfortunately only available in 3/4 ton and 1 ton sizes. The comparable Fuji costs 20% more, and the top of the line Daikin 50% more. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Electric AC and heat pump combined unit or you can just do AC. Re: [MBZ] Mini split ductless heat pump
On demand water heater. Great for small homes with few demands on concurrent water use. They make about enough to run a shower and the bathroom sink. Some of the larger ones allow you to run a bathroom and use of kitchen sink. If you have two bathrooms, somebody in the kitchen and a washing machine, you will want to have two heaters. Place them close to where demand is and you are golden. Two story homes are good this way. Put one heater on the main floor and you have kitchen and washer covered, upstairs unit does bathrooms so two people can shower. Options are to run electric or gas. LP works same as natural fuel. Best to do as new construction than retrofit. clay On Dec 27, 2012, at 4:34 PM, Mountain Man wrote: > Does anyone know about water heaters (used overseas) that provide at > source hot water at a shower head? I think I'm getting close to 14k out of that 3/4 ton Fuji with outdoor temps in the 20s (it got up to 29° this afternoon). With the Fuji set at 80°, it's exactly 80 on the other side of the living room from it. Uncomfortably warm, in other words.
