I think JD is running 3000 psi (constant pressure, variable flow) for a
few decades. In the 70s they used 2000 or 2500 PSI CP. My IH Liftall I
always thought was 1000 psi, but some documents say 800 PSI. It really
does not matter because it is constant flow, variable pressure, so it
only hits the pressure relief in overloaded condition.

I believe the PS is CF, VP. If so, it only hits the 110 bar when the
steering is full left or full right, and you hear the oil opeing the
pressure relief valve.

Thanks Max! BTW, your note reminded me that I need to look in the
Black Tech Data Book to see what they say about pumps - I always
forget to look at that til I am half way through my repair! It's a
great little book - I wonder if they are still available? Do you have
one?

I'm glad to hear the Vickers and ZF are the same! I saw my pump has
110bar on the label - Man! that thing runs under quite a bit of
pressure!!

I need to get my WSM out and see what it takes to remove the

Other MB cars with the same pump / same pressure:

I'm pretty sure some of the gasser engine pumps will have a remote

experimenting. I would have tried that in a pinch, but I ended up finding
a good used pump from a gasser wagon that had the dual circuit feature.

I think Vickers and ZF were both OEM suppliers?  I swapped the PSP off
the donor 420SEL onto the 560SEC and they look the same but had
different tags on them (or on one, the tag was missing but it was
clearly in a different place/size).  I'm pretty sure one was Vickers and
one was ZF.  I tried to find some details and on one of the forums it
suggested they were different internally, so different seal kits, but
externally the same.  I forget now which one was leaking and which is
the "new" one but they both came off the cars and looked to be original.

How I'd reseal the Single PS pump: Remove the old seal, take it to the
local bearing supply (Motion Industries?) and buy 2-3 replacements.
Probably only $3 each or so. Buying 2-3 insures that the first one
will go in right. If you buy only one, you may need to go back and buy
a second. You may need a oring or 2 to rebuild the pump. The same
place will have the orings too. A single pump is a simple reseal.

That looks to me like a complete break of a tab on the body of the
pump, so

you'd need to replace the entire pump. A used pump would probably be a
good bet. If your pump is a single circuit and not a dual circuit like a
car with SLS or ASD, then they are pretty common. I suspect that just
about any pump from a 124, 201, 202, or 210 car would work, although you
may need to move your reservoir over to the "new"pump and change the
pulley.

haven't found anything yet.  The ads are either so vague that I can not
be sure the part will fit or so precise that I am sure it will /not
/fit!  It's frustrating looking for a odd part like this = had the same

Oh well, just what I needed - another project to test my knee.

the pump is really good) or buying a new pump. I have found a seal kit
for about $18 and an A1CARDONE pump for about $70.

Is the A1CARDONE pump a reliable one, or should I just reseal the one I
have? Of course, if the A1CARDONE pump is reliable, that would be an
option for Larry, too.

Any idea if the material can be welded?   I have electric arc and a
MIG welders but  not much recent experience using them.  But I can
probably weld well enough for it to last a while. ;-)

I would guess it could be welded but it looks to be aluminum and I would
think you need to take it to a welding shop for some expert attention.

Larry,

That looks to me like a complete break of a tab on the body of the pump, so
you'd need to replace the entire pump. A used pump would probably be a
good bet. If your pump is a single circuit and not a dual circuit like a
car with SLS or ASD, then they are pretty common. I suspect that just
about any pump from a 124, 201, 202, or 210 car would work, although you
may need to move your reservoir over to the "new"pump and change the pulley.
