Re: [MBZ] Todays job
It's not very clear from my email, so here's a list of what got done. Disconnected refrigerant lines, electrical power, low voltage lines, and removed outside unit. Disconnected same from air handler under house, plus supply air duct and return air duct, and condensate drain, and removed air handler. Ran new refrigerant line set ~45 feet under house, after removing old. Installed new outside unit, brazed refrigerant lines while sweeping with nitrogen, made electrical and low voltage connections. Repaired kink in new line buy cutting out damage and brazing in a coupler. Put new air handler in position, connected supply and return ducting. Had to fabricate a plate to reduce the size of the supply air duct opening on the air handler. That was about twelve hours of work for me. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '95 E300 '87 300TD Max Dillon wrote: >Late start on Saturday, full day today, have only two copper lines to >braze to the new air handler, then electrical connections, then drain >line. > >Of course, once the brazing is complete, then pressure and vacuum >testing of the new lines. > >Yesterday I thought I'd done a good job brazing the connections at the >outside unit, but I had not. Late start on Saturday, full day today, have only two copper lines to braze to the new air handler, then electrical connections, then drain line. Of course, once the brazing is complete, then pressure and vacuum testing of the new lines. Yesterday I thought I'd done a good job brazing the connections at the outside unit, but I had not. Moved the unit a little, joint failed. Went back to brazing school, read a few articles, watched a you-tube video, switched to my oxygen-MAPP torch, practiced on a piece of scrap. Figured out what I had done wrong (not enough heat), corrected that and got those two joints done. -- Max Dillon Charleston SC '95 E300 '87 300TD Craig wrote: > >So, how did it go? > >Did you complete the installation? > >How well does it work? > >Yes, I know, questions, questions > > >Craig > >___ >http://www.okiebenz.com >For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com >To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > >To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: >http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

They make chillers and UPS systems that are probably used in 90% of the computer rooms in corporate America, if not worldwide. Stulz, well, suffice to say they're sort of the Yugo of the market, I guess. I don't know much about them, as I've never seen any of their equipment, but I have heard stories. A diversity of feelings - upset with self for "ruining" a good controller; elation at finding that it's still good, anyway, and not having to order over-priced replacement; regret for not checking it thoroughly earlier; disappointment in not knowing why it wouldn't work after the pop, etc. Wilton - Original Message - From: "Rich Thomas" To: "Mercedes Discussion List" Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2012 1:27 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] Todays job I have on my dirtys now, fixin to go sand some sheetrock compound so I can get a head unit put in after that is done. funfunfun On a related note, I have this (pricey) fan control I thought I had fried back in the summer when I tested it out by plugging it into an extension cord. Heard a pop and then it would not work. So yesterday, wanting to get that sorted out, I was gonna order another one, but $55, ouch. So I took this one apart, it is kinda interesting in that it has a push-buttton power switch that sends power to the fan and the little low voltage RF transmitter board to tell the fan what to do when you push the various control buttons. Nothing looked toasted, I put the meter on a coupla components, they looked OK.
