Interesting comparison. Good thing batteries don't cost as much per pound

Well, I'll add some data points. I have two older 617s. My old Indie had always
installed Interstates when I needed a new battery. My current Indie doesn't
sell batteries so I was on my own. I went to PepBoys. They had a very nice
Bosch with excellent cranking amps and a very nice warranty. I've used the
warranty once when my servo stuck and killed the battery. PepBoys replaced it
with no questions or problems. I'm very satisfied with the Bosch in both of my
617s. Great, fast cranking power and a very good price.
Just some extra info to consider.

Out of curiosity, I emailed the parts desk at the local MB dealer.
They tell me they have a battery for my 115 300D in stock.
$230.00
I asked about warranty thinking if it was really good, it might be worth
the extra money.

2 year replacement and then 2 year pro-rated.

I think, I will go with my tape measure to see if the biggest battery at
Costco will fit. I think I can buy it for about
$90.http://www.theweathernetwork.com/index.php?product=weatherplacecode=CAMB0244switchto=cref=wxnetappcitypageV5var1=0

Canadian Tire has a big one that might work too for about $120.

Have not looked at other places or local FLAPS etc.

Could also check in Grand Forks ND to see if US prices are better.

Of course, I might just try to run the car for a bit and see if the
existing one holds up.
It appears to me that it is fading but I have it on a trickle charger
and it seems to be up to a full charge at the moment.

Just use the darn Canadian Tire battery. As long as it is type 49, which is
what is called for in your car anyway, the thing will solve the problem.
Should have a six year warranty, fit properly, and have all the power you will
need to start the car from under two meters of snow. It is also the same
battery called for since at least 1970 until 2003 in diesel benz.

The Bosch Group 49 fits perfect in my 80 300SD, 116, if that helps. It also has
the battery forward and close to the hood. It also was a great price compared

altho' the later years are pro-rated as you'd expect.

I have not called the dealer but my guess is that they won't have one in

Batteries have become so generic anymore I don't see the value in paying a

The last two batteries I bought were from AutoZone, and they had a better
