2019-12-06 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Feeling much better this morning. Not quite 100%, but definitely better.

When I went in for my annual in October I asked for the shingles vaccine and
they didn’t have it. However, both CVS and Walgreens have it around here, so I
went to the Walgreens we frequent for the wife’s Rxs.

Gotta go back in early February for my second round.

Yes when i got my first Shingrix shot last year the pharmacist said I
would be sore. An under statement. It hurt like hell when she gave it and
for days after. I really didn't have flu symptoms just sore arm for days.
But my wife has had shingles so i know how awful they can be

This is topical, as I just got the first of my two shingles shots yesterday….

The monograph they give you with the shot says that one of the potential side
effects is flu-like symptoms for 2-3 days following, which occurred in 80% of
the test subjects.

Oh, yeah.

I started feeling crappy last night but just chalked it up to a day that began
at 4:45 am and ended past 11:00 pm. Today was a different story. Achy, flushed,
chills, etc., as bad as I’ve had the few times I’ve really been nailed by the
flu (I get annual flu shots, I would add.) I left work at noon today and went
by the bank to set up the wire transfer for our closing tomorrow. Then I went
home, logged on to work, piddled around for maybe 30 minutes then went to bed.
Slept on and off through four hours of the Addams Family channel on Pluto TV.

I just got up and am feeling a little better, not much. I’m a little put out by
this, as I was planning on changing spark plugs in my 98 S210 wagon this
afternoon, but there’s no way I’m up for that.

Suffice to say, if you get the shingles vaccine (Shingrix) be prepared. And
like with most immunizations, the injection site is sore as heck, but I can
deal with that. All this aside, get the shingles vaccine. You definitely don’t
want the disease.

I didn't place too much credence in that, but this week I has an
interesting experience.
I was setting up a Moto E5 for a friend who never had a cell phone
but had Gmail.
I tried to use her Gmail ID in setting it up when it asked for a
Goolag account login. It claimed I was using an unrecognized device
and I needed to prove I was her by giving it a cell number to text me
a code to enter in the new phone, Every device she ever used before
was unrecognized, she usually reads her email on library computers,
and it never gave her the text message security thing before.

So, finally I put in my phone number to send the secret code to,
since she had no other way of receiving texts until after we got her
phone working.
Goolag sent me the code, and because I received her code on my phone
I successfully proved I was her. ???
Then I went into Gmail, and her Gmail on her brand new phone showed
me ads for Taste of the Wild at Chewy.com.
(This Sunday I'd been looking at TOTW nutritional info on Chewy.com
on my computer, in a web browser that had Goolag cookies in it)

Goolag didn't want a phone number to confirm identity, they wanted a
phone number to link an existing spy database to the new phone, and
lied about why they wanted a phone number. That reminds me, I still
need to delete all the Google analytics from my laptop.
